Walking Boot of Doom

Government and Sports

The NCAA is under fire in the judicial system.  Between the O'Bannon case and the push for unionization the courts will be forced to hear cases on the matter of student-athlete rights more and more until there is some sort of legislative ruling on how the NCAA is able to operate as a not-for-profit.  So we can either get that process started on the legislative side or continue to have court proceedings on the matter that are extremely costly to all taxpayers.

Also, the US Government does have business in this matter as every NCAA institution accepts federal funds and grants.

Bringing key stakeholders together to discuss the topic as the White House is doing seems to me to be a step in the right direction.

I alluded to this in another thread. Changes are coming, and most agree the role the NCAA plays in everything is far from perfect. I'm just not sure what we end up with in 15-20 years will be better or worse.
