  1. Nothing to leak yet. Still analyzing candidates. No hurry. Very little competition for job openings. Let the tournaments play out.
  2. Drops from $16 M to $10 M as of 4/1, correct? Saw that if Cronin is at UCLA 4/15, he gets a $2 M retention bonus, so buyout really $8M, I guess
  3. UCLA destroying USC. Bruins are so well coached. Would IU pay the buyout, though?
  4. After Sampson, IU won’t hire a guy with a show cause. https://www.al.com/sports/2024/01/ncaa-expands-penalties-for-hiring-coaches-under-show-cause.html
  5. It would be a big risk. He’s not my first choice. But of the coaches who’d likely leave their current gig, I’d rather take a chance on him than Brownell
  6. Or their analysis points to hiring a rising mid-major coach over high floor - low ceiling P5 coaches with high buyouts. Moneyball you know.
  7. Nothings a sure thing. “Ben has had numerous other opportunities to become a Division I head coach over the past few years,” Hardin (Drake AD) said. “But he waited for this position to open. He didn’t want to just be any Division I head coach. He wanted to be the Drake head coach. And that matters. That matters and it’s why he’s a tremendous fit for our campus and for our community.”
  8. Live around some FSU and FL grads. Have never heard them mention bball once.
  9. As I recall, Woodson credited “someone in the huddle” for suggesting a zone
  10. I was very envious of their success. WI had lost 31 straight to IU until 1997 (Dick Bennett). Now IU hasn’t won at WI since 1998.
  11. Whoever hires McCollum is getting Bo Ryan 2.0. Ryan won 82% of his games at WI-Platteville and four DIII national titles. He was at Milwaukee for two seasons before WI hired him, after at least two candidates turned them down. The rest is history.
  12. So, which current Bulldogs coach will it be? Few, Jans, McMillan, McCollum, Matta or Cooley
  13. It is painful watching him physically struggle on the sidelines
  14. Have maintained all along that Stevens is a valuable asset to the new ownership. They will offer an even greater equity stake .
  15. Downside is as scary as Beard and in a creepier way. FL closed the Title IX investigation, but there were some really weird accusations. Maybe all made up (why?) but it came from more than one woman. No claims of attempted extortion. “According to the letter, the Title IX coordinator determined there was no evidence to indicate that sexual harassment "occurred within a university program or activity," and that is why the school had to dismiss the complaint” “Attorney Karen Truszkowski, who represents a 21-year-old college student who did not attend the University of Florida, said that although the reported behavior might not fall under the definition of Title IX, there was "certainly evidence that there was questionable activity that occurred" while Golden was participating in a university event.”
  16. Will we Wade deep into the murky and slippery depths?
  17. It’s just getting started
  18. Dolson spoke at length about a study members of his staff produced at the time that became instrumental in the hiring process. He directed his team to analyze the last three decades of Indiana football to identify areas of consistency when the Hoosiers were successful. The group asked the same questions about like-programs — including North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Purdue and Illinois — to see what common factors were present when they were winning. Dolson leaned on that research to come up with an initial pool of candidates that included Cignetti. The athletic department also hired prominent search firm TurnkeyZRG to assist them. Dolson has gone on record describing them as “invaluable” to the process in the past. At that Rotary Club meeting, he said the firm worked off criteria he provided them, criteria which came directly from that study, to identify candidates. Indiana will follow a similar blueprint in the coming weeks, as it seeks Woodson's replacement.
  19. The Buzz is getting louder
  20. Definitely not a troll job. Never said they are the only candidates, but they are on the list
  21. BGleas is by far the most knowledgeable poster on here when the Celtics are the subject
  22. Not affected, but they’re aware. You should probably research the major donors to IU bball and the causes that are important to them. https://spokesman-recorder.com/2024/10/20/black-coaches-minnesota-indiana/
  23. Sampson is Native American and one helluva coach
  24. Two names getting serious consideration are Dennis Gates and Anthony Grant. The major donors are acutely aware that there are only two African American coaches in the 18 team B1G. They don’t like that Woodson is being forced out and Ben Johnson may be out at MN. They don’t want the B1G to be all white coaches. Think the optics are terrible. They’d like to have Shaka in the mix, but don’t think he’ll leave Marquette. They’d love Tommy Amaker, but his record in recent seasons is a tough sell. Don’t count out Shrews either.
