He may take the call, but he isn't leaving. He was born in Oregon and has never lived anywhere but the NW. He's 62 and has only coached at Gonzaga, 10 years as assistant and 25 years as head coach. His lifestyle is deeply embedded in the NW. He can win 4 of 5 games every year at Gonzaga. The only job he's ever considered was Oregon, but turned that down. He's already named his successor at Gonzaga when he retires from there.

Love ya man, but that's not really accurate. McCollum is a phenomenal coach and possibly one of the most creative minds in CBB today. Their offense is incredibly efficient, but they play at a very slow pace. He can definitely win that way, but everyone needs to understand what he brings. He's playing the same style he brought from NW MO. This is an article from 2019. If you’re looking to copy what Northwest does, this next sentence may scare you a little bit: they’re one of the slower teams out there. I calculated Northwest at just 64.9 possessions per game this season and was surprised to see it that high; their final three games of the season went for 57, 62, and 54 possessions. By no means are they threatening to turn into Whitman anytime soon. And yet: slow, patient basketball clearly works: https://statsbywill.com/2019/05/29/building-a-better-basketball-offense-ball-screens/2/

Few isn't leaving Gonzaga

No. His team is ranked #!. They are on pace to probably win the best conference in CBB and be a #1 seed. He was in a FF last year. IU offers nothing that he can't achieve where he is. His new contract will now run through the 2029-30 season. Oats will be paid $5 million the first year of his new deal, athletics director Greg Byrne told the committee, with annual increases to $7.55 million the last year. Oats' previous deal was set to pay him $4.7 million in 2024-25 to $5.5 million in 2028-29. Oats' new salary places him within the top seven coaches in USA Today's database of publicly-available contracts. Oats' buyout under his new deal will be $18 million for the first two years until March 2026, which Byrne said is the highest of any coach in the country based on his research. The buyout then drops to $10 million until March 2027, when it drops to $4 million until March 2028.

What has continued? Message board speculation? Why would Stevens or Dolson have any reason to comment if not asked? Stevens isn’t coaching, so he isn’t doing post-game interviews. It would be really weird to issue a statement about the IU job and only create more media attention.

Dusty May would be an idiot to take the IU job. He has too many close connections. His mother lives in Btown and his in-laws live in the area. One three-game losing streak and they will start to hear all the negatives. Nobody needs that. Plus, I think he's just too nice of a guy. That isn't a slam on the IU fan base, the same would be true at KY, KS, UNC, Duke, etc. He can win but remain below the radar at MI, which is definitely football first. IU needs someone who doesn't care about the outside noise and doesn't have to worry about their extended families dealing with it. That's why guys like Beard & Cronin make sense. I think Stevens could deal with the noise, but he isn't coming.

New ownership will do everything to keep Stevens. He’s a significant part of the current value of the franchise. He’ll get a contract offer that will make his great grandchildren wealthy. He’ll be offered a minority interest in the Celtics. -

It’s even more ridiculous than the KY fans who were convinced they were getting Dan Hurley -
He'd be great, but that would be a tough get. Former asst with master's from TX Tech. Wife is a TX Tech grad. If anything, he'll be the next TX coach.

That's actually very plausible. Massive male ego. Yesterday he bought into the retirement thing, to avoid being fired. He went home and his wife and other family members raised hell saying "they can't treat you like that". So he marched back in today to say I'm out. -

I don't think any NBA GM would be happy with all of his players being free agents every year. Watch what Brad's been doing in Boston. Signing all of his players to contract extensions.

Because he would have lost. Even though the charges were dropped, the damage was already done according to his contract. Best to take the $4M and move on. Per the Austin American Statesmen, the University of Texas has a “clause in the contract allows the university to terminate or suspend Beard with cause if "Any conduct (a) that the University administration reasonably determines is clearly unbecoming to a Head Coach and reflects poorly on the University, the Program, or The University of Texas System; or (b) resulting in a criminal charge being brought against Head Coach involving a felony, or any crime involving theft, dishonesty, or moral turpitude." -

No, that is his philosophy and has been for years. It didn't change when he went to Drake. There are plenty of podcasts out there where he discusses this. He's concluded that good teams won't let you score in transition and tournament games always end up being played in the half court. He believes it's a waste of practice time to push tempo. He wants to be able to play efficiently in the half court, which also helps with defense. Just his philosophy. Don't see him changing if you goes up another level. -

They should stay with the game plans against NEB and IA and give up over 40 each half. -
