  1. He was my early sleeper favorite. Just didn’t think he could get pried away from Marquette.
  2. Yeah, should have included Shaka. There was the thought he wouldn’t leave Marquette, but now his name has been floated for VA.
  3. Hence the parentheses
  4. Saying you don’t know anything about IU’s major donors without saying you know nothing about IU’s major donors.
  5. Gates was on some early hot board lists to IU. Put together a list of “successful” African American coaches. He’s on it along with Ed Cooley, Anthony Grant, Tommy Amaker. Lamont Paris would have been on the list last season as SEC COY. He would have gotten a very strong look with his Midwest and B1G history. Not saying IU will hire anyone on this list, but there is some pressure to hire an African American coach. May not be enough to ultimately win out.
  6. Several days ago, I brought to the board that IU and MN (likely) would be replacing the only two African American coaches in the B1G and that some donors were pressuring Dolson to seriously consider Gates and others. Everyone laughed. Well, here we are. Now, it will ramp up the “keep Woodson” chatter as well. Don’t see it actually happening, but the noise will be louder.
  7. Sort of. He was born in IA City but grew up and went to HS in Storm Lake in NW IA. It's 240 miles to IA City. The University of MN campus would be the same distance. The Nebraska campus would actually be closer to his hometown than Iowa. Same is true for NW MO ST, which is about 90 miles from Kansas City.
  8. If you think about it, that's a really easy sell for an AD. 81% winning % DII, 79% conference. Four national titles. 30-3 first year D1.
  9. Maryland when Turgeon was there. A bunch of students would dress like him and dance during games. Called themselves the Turgeonites
  10. Warm up the Turgeonites
  11. He needs the extra $2M to start his tiny giraffe ranch
  12. Brad informed the world that he wasn't a candidate on 2/14. People chose not to listen.
  13. He was getting a lot of love early. No idea why.
  14. We'd never touch Golden.
  15. Plus national and international recruiter. Coached high level players at LaLu
  16. In four years, McCollum will be coaching Kansas
  17. Sorry Scott, I missed your call. There were 12 hookers in front of me
  18. Sure you’re not a Purdue grad?
  19. When I was at IU, there was a bar band touring Midwest campuses called "Jif and the Choosy Mothers". I believe they were from Iowa.
  20. Right. I don't really see Cig as a "schmoozer", salesman type. He probably ranks donor meetings alongside colonoscopies. But the guy is supremely confident in his abilities and projects that. Also very media savvy.
