  1. We can be successful without succeeding in the early signing period. It's not very comfortable though is it?
  2. If we block out the hs recruiting element, Woody is still cooking.
  3. He's not on the HH visit list.......smh.....
  4. I'm picturing Woody pulling up to in-home visits in a pick-up with the Sandford and Son theme playing loudly from some invisible source. The assistants all cramped in the cab together. Walking into these homes looking lost and not knowing what to say maybe Walsh brings a cheese platter from Costco. Woody falls asleep. The rooms silent for 30 minutes, Woody wakes up having slobbered on Hunter says "ok then." Woody leaves some butterscotch candies, Rosemond stuffs his mouth with cheese and they leave. Then the recruits get random texts from Woody meant for golf courses in the area scheduling Tee times. This is officially a problem. You still have to land 2 or 3 high school players every year. You can't lay there in the spring cranking a jack in the box waiting for someone's parents to call. We can win a national title this year, you still have to put this recruitment thing together.
  5. Remember the circumstances with each of the names being mentioned. Bates was a decommit after a coaching change and Hunter slid in late in the process. JHS resembled a traditional recruitment. Reneau was a decommit after a coaching change and the JHS connection helped but again a quick recruitment. Mgbako we never had any involvement with, his mom contacted us after he de-committed from Duke. Tucker we were involved with but others were as well and when GLE was disbanded his dad called Woody. Quick recruitment Then the wham bam transactional portal recruitments Woody does well. The player that looks most likely to fit this would be Mikel Brown, if Rice looks like he's going into the draft after this year.
  6. Ten years from now what will be the legacy of Braylon Mullins in the state? It won't matter that much to a multi-millionaire playing on his second contract in the league, but to a solid rotation piece that gets a cup of coffee in the league it might. Joining UConn after they brought in Adam's, who in many circles is rated as a higher prospect is a gamble. I wish him well. I went to see him play alot the last year and a half. He's really good.
  7. They were on Zillow-Storrs looking at investment property together lol.
  8. I've been in a couple of those.
  9. UConn will take a step back this year but this recruiting class will definitely get them back on track. At some point Luke Murray and Kamani Young will get jobs somewhere else and Dan will be mortal again.
  10. There's multiple seasons in one that we all want to do well in. Portal, we crushed, hs recruiting not so much, regular season looks promising and the post season you never know. Without games to play and the portal in the rear view mirror we all focus on this portion of the process. Coming off a bad year, every miss pi55es us off. There is a scenario the longer Brown and Ament hang out there that our success this year will benefit us. Until such success we're a 5☆ early signing period backwater.
  11. UConn has two brilliant assistant coaches. Which by the way am I the only one that didn't know Luke Murray's dad is Bill Murray? For me that's enough. I wish I could go to UConn now.
  12. Are we going to look back next week and realize that we held a co-visit for UCONN on September 20th?
  13. He's our second offer on that class. It seems odd that we weren't his first offer. In the big picture it doesn't matter but what are the rules of operation in the recruiting department at IU?
  14. I would feel better had he visited recently. Georgia Tech feels like the "stay at home" pick to me.
  15. I think if Woody can pull off just Mullins and Sisley they would be players that would stick after a coaching change. Assuming it's a smart choice.
  16. That my friend is the million dollar question. What if: • a class of Mullins and Sisley • win at Wisconsin • split w/Purdue • win the BTT• finish in the top 15 • 3 seed and lose in the second weekend ? That would give Woody a pretty good 4 year story. He could retire having stamped his name on a couple of things and give us the perfect window to hire someone from a short list.
  17. I agree. Give me Sisley and Grady with another Woody spring time 5☆, retain everyone we can and fill in with a couple of portal big bodies.
  18. Woody made some assumptions when he first took the job that were inaccurate. Then he was suddenly a 60+ yo first time college head coach for a team and staff that no idea how to win. A lot of pride and arrogance got him dug in this hole. I think he knows x's and o's as well as anyone though. This year will be successful enough that he could step down with legacy in tact. OR we may get really close and he'll coach the remainder of his contract.
  19. I think Trilly is a member of Russian Intelligence that is in charge of one small portion of the American population. There are bugs everywhere.
  20. We should be throwing more love Trents way. He's going to be a good one.
  21. That damn Trilly. I bet he knows who killed Kennedy.
  22. Now, we are recruiting more realistically. Chronicler, Weis, Grady, Sularski. An IU offer will hold some water with these players. They're strong foundational pieces. Until we can counter the negative recruiting that is happening against us and Woody is either replaced or proves he can succeed at the highest level we need to hit homeruns on a pair of these every year. Add a homerun or a spring 5☆ and buy the rest.
  23. Well as much as we've dismissed the Maryland insider, he's been pretty accurate. We may have to take our lumps until the spring.
  24. I can't reconcile that amount of money given to someone that doesn't know if they're ready to leave home.
