  1. I really appropriate your Westhead reference. But I have to dig into you a bit. If I was irrational I would say "f the university and students I want to win" but of course that's ridiculous. I will say from witnessing the job at the low starting points of college coaching, it's nasty. We can go down a list that starts at the top. Self, Sampson, Pitino, Pearl,,,,etc on and on. You look at a guy like Drew or Brad or a Jon Scheyer. These guys didn't start in the trenches and have divorce number 2 and functional alcoholism to deal with. We have 1971-1995 to hang our hat on and for all the reasons most people fail to mention about RMK that were awesome and I love, every year starting in 1977 he became a little bit more out of his mind. He never succumbed to cheating though. The great John Wooden tried it. He was the Ben McCollum/Brad Stevens/Dusty of his time. Super successful at ISU for 2 years, went to UCLA and finally gave up trying to beat Pete Newell and handed recruiting over to Sam Gilbert and was the most successful and dirtiest coach of all time. We really aren't much to talk about if you take 1971-1995 out of the story. You have to go back to before the rotary phone. There may not be the coach that returns us to that greatness that hasn't or isn't capable of pushing it too far.
  2. I'm afraid instead of b.i.n.g.o it's going to be b.u.n.g.h.o is our name-o and I'm going to have to buy a bunch of St. John's gear to keep my sanity.
  3. I have really taken advantage of the fast food fish sandwich deals.
  4. This kid can play. Like Rice, Carlyle and a lot of the portal players that turned us down, if you are a downhill player that excels in space or God forbid play off the ball out of weekside movement and a ball reversal, IU can make you look pretty bad. There were plenty of schools, like a St. John's or Michigan St where he would've fit right in.
  5. This makes a lot of sense to me. A name that's currently not coaching. That would be a homerun: Jay Wright would definitely be a homerun
  6. Jay Wright is wearing a red pocket square. There you go.
  7. They stay close and eventually break your will to compete. I hope we can get a St John's vs Houston championship.
  8. Houston is holding up their end of the deal without Robert's.
  9. If we had a team that played as hard as Houston or St. John's, assembly hall couldn't keep a roof on.
  10. It's easier for me to believe we have our guy.
  11. Wade would bring some juice for sure. He's having talks with NC State right now.
  12. I think a Pearl wager would be a good idea. You can give a hobo going into a liquor store the Few money and get a better return.
  13. Damnit man, snap out of it.
  14. I agree. I just didn't want to be pulled back into people's court again. Personally, I think Scott Dolson has had his guy for a while. After the 2021 debacle that opened the door for QB to step in, no way he repeats that again. With that line of reasoning, I think it's going to be a name that brings excitement. It's going to be the "Damn Scott I didn't know you had that in you" kinda hire. Or "Way to go Scott you sneaky f, that took some balls"
  15. If somehow Scott Dolson is sitting in a position where it's an impulsive BM for the first time in his life, that thinks IU and its money is too good to pass up, or a guy that may very well be a late bloomer and let's not forget our catch phrase "with our resources." I hope he picks McCollum. I don't know anyone that feels differently.
  16. What was the spread on the game?
  17. In a hypathetical world where we would choose Brownell or a similar candidate and not interview an initial bad PR hit, I would be bothered.
  18. Watching Pitino teach a class
  19. The Celtics have been very good to Brad. They made him their head coach after 6 years of mid-major college experience. Then after a Woodyesque 7 years as a professional coach, moved him to the front office and now pay him 11+mill a year to build championship rosters. Which he has done. That's why it has been ludicrous to think he would go back to coach college for anyone.
  20. Frans gone so if you add Iowa holdovers to eligible Drake players you have a team that can compete. He gets to stay home. It will be cool to see how he does there.
  21. One guy is all it takes for schools to forget all the rest. BYU right now is becoming the blue print for a school like Texas.
  22. One is some initial bad PR, the other is torches and pitchforks.
  23. Clemson will still be playing.
  24. If he leaves Drake after one year for money, it will be off script. He's not that kinda guy. Iowa might be the exception.
  25. I'm with this guy.
