  1. High school recruiting is worthless to a 72-year-old that has a window of 2 years that isn't looking to build a program and just wants to assemble talent for his final 2 years. If you are looking to develop a culture and long-term program, high school recruiting is still important.
  2. I only picked IU to win by 2 in the contest, but I do agree we have a chance to win big in this game. Purdue is not that talented.
  3. Don't forget that Crean was one quirky dude.
  4. Not many. Tony Bennett and Scott Drew and they may be long shots.
  5. I think Buckner had a list of 2 and we got stuck with #2.
  6. If guys like Brownell and Turgeon are really being considered then just shut down our basketball program and put the money into football, soccer, and baseball.
  7. You may get your wish. If we hire Brownell, a large part of the fanbase will take 4 years off until the next coaching search.
  8. My hope is that two weeks after the Celtics won the NBA Championship, Dolson called Stevens and said "Congratulations on winning the NBA Championship! Now, are you ready to win an NCAA Championship because the IU job is going to be open next year".
  9. Are Rabby's connections with Woodson and the coaching staff or Dolson? I believe Rabjohns was the one that floated the rumors on Dane's firing.
  10. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of McDermott. His teams are fun to watch. The Big East teams may be at a competitive disadvantage when the new revenue sharing takes place so McDermott might be open to a move. I'm still holding out for Stevens or Bennett.
  11. Until a new coach is hired, I'm choosing to believe it's Stevens. No inside information. Just being optimistic that something finally goes right for IU basketball.
  12. Missing on Dusty last year and then having to hire Brad Brownell would a real kick in the nuts. The downward slide of IU basketball into complete mediocrity and irrelevance would be complete.
  13. Well, fudge!!! We better get a stud coach or Woodson will be remembered for being a mediocre coach and costing us Dusty!
  14. I could be wrong, but I thought someone said last year that Buckner didn't think there was anything special about Dusty as a coach (or something like that).
  15. I am so glad that Dolson retired Woodson mid-season. The tournament bubble is so weak this year, we could actually squeak in as a 10 or 11 seed. Just like mediocre Mike to take a top 10 roster and barely make the tournament. I was always fearful that Woodson's influential backers would say you can't fire a coach that made the NCAA Tournament 3 of 4 years. I just couldn't take another year with Woodson underperforming with a talented roster. My love for IU basketball was diminishing with each game.
  16. I think that would be a good hire for Virginia.
  17. No. Coach 1 is not Drew. Coach 1 is Pearl. His stats are no greater than Cronin. I think Pearl is more beloved because he displays positive energy and Cronin (like Archie) comes across as surly.
  18. Coach 2 who only received 8% yes votes is Cronin. Coach 1 is not Beard.
  19. Assuming you mean coach 1 Cronin and Coach 2 Beard- that would be a no and a no.
  20. Fun with blind resumes. Coach 1 received 75% yes in the poll last week. He is in his 21st year of D1 basketball. He has a .680 win pct, made 13 NCAA Tournaments so far and will make the tournament this year. He has been to one Final Four. Coach 2 received 8% yes in the poll last week. He is in his 22nd year of D1 basketball. He has a .683 win pct, made 14 NCAA Tournaments and will make the tournament this year. He has been to one Final Four. Based on the survey, we evidently want more than winning out of our next coach. I would accept either of these 2 coaches, but neither are in my top 3 which are Stevens, May, and Bennett. Any guess as to who they are without peaking at the survey?
  21. Speaking of senior night, do Leal and Galloway get recognized again? It made zero sense to have them go through the ceremony last year when they had already announced they were coming back. Senior night used to seem special. I feel like it has lost its specialness over the years.
  22. Has an offense that uses off ball screening and movement Flexible on defense, willing to play man or zone depending on the situation Hates losing and will work his rear off to make sure he doesn't Establish a culture of hard work, development, and discipline Understands the analytics of college basketball and runs a system based on that understanding Emphasizes proper shot selection Recruits to his system and not worry about star ratings Recruits players that want to be at IU and win a Big ten title and not just looking for the most NIL Builds program with high school players and uses the portal to fill gaps Outgoing personality and represents the university positively
  23. Richard Pitino > Mark Turgeon
  24. We get it. You know Mark. We do not want him as our next coach.
