  1. Or Pearl is using IU as leverage to get a raise and have his son designated as the head coach in waiting at Auburn. Pearl has been at Auburn for 10 years. I'm sure that he and his wife have developed a lot of friends at Auburn. At 64, I don't see him wanting to pick up and start over again. I think the IU fanbase is getting way too excited about the Pearl rumors.
  2. Just as long as Dolson's plan doesn't include a raise and extension for coach Woodson.
  3. You rarely get the ideal coach at the perfect timing. Alabama hired Oats from Buffalo after a few good years. Tennessee hired Pearl from Milwaukee. A good AD should be able to project how a mid-major coach would project at his school with the improved resources. Glass missed on Archie. Fred Glass was a lawyer. Dolson has been around basketball for a long time. He should be able to be able to properly project how a mid-major coach could do at IU with our resources.

  5. I agree. I think we win tomorrow as well. We matchup with Wisconsin fairly well. We just need to guard the three-point shooters or at least hope they miss.
  6. I didn't like the hire but tried getting behind it. Happy with the victories over Purdue and making the tournament, but still felt like we had underperformed the first 2 years. I didn't think we shot enough threes the first two years but believed it when we were told the offense would change after Trayce left. Recruiting had been decent getting some highly rated players but the bottom fell out this year after chasing too many 5 stars when we have a lot of scholarships to fill. Rolls out the same lineup each half regardless of how players execute. The lack of accountability has been frustrating. IU needs a change.
  7. So, Galloway to Notre Dame?
  8. I've never met Dane. I've heard a few interviews. He seems like a guy with a weird sense of humor and you probably have to be his friend to get him. LOL
  9. You can't recruit high school players when you're on the hot seat which means that we count on free agency, oops, I mean the portal to bring in new players. We have to build a program and culture. That isn't happening under Woodson. Time for a change.
  10. I'm not advocating for Dane Fife as the IU coach. I just stated that an argument could be made that he would have been a better choice than Woodson. IPFW won 7 games the year before Dane took over. His team improved incrementally and had winning records his final 2 years as head coach. Fife then spent around 10 years as one of the lead assistants for Tom Izzo. Fife's resume of college head coach and assistant coaching experience is as good or better than Woodson's NBA resume if you're hiring a college coach.
  11. Does Quinn really want an IU guy or does Quinn want "his" IU guy? If it was just an IU guy, Alford or even Dane Fife would have made more sense than Woodson.
  12. Sometimes you have a team that doesn't shoot well. It happens to coaches. You compensate by playing great defense, but we haven't even played defense well. No offense and no defense is on the coach, plain and simple. Currently in Kenpom we have the 113 ranked offense and the 109th ranked defense. There is no foundation and no identity established. We need a real college coach.
  13. I believe that Shrewsberry has $24 million left on his contract at Notre Dame. I would assume that he has a rather large buyout.
  14. If we are going to have to get a proven coach, I would prefer Oats. His offense is fun to watch and although his defense stinks this year, last year his defense was ranked 3rd in Kenpom. 'If we're going to consider an older coach like Pearl, I'll throw in a few names of other older consistent winners. Tony Bennett, Randy Bennett, and Greg McDermott are all coaches that I could be happy with.
  15. I think Dusty would be a great fit. However, the more I think about May, the more I realize that the administration is not going to push out a former IU player to hire a former IU manager even if he would be a better coach. Call it what you want, internal politics or pride. The May hiring can only happen if and when Woodson would voluntarily retire imo.
  16. "Believed to be under consideration", means I read on a message board.
  17. Watching Purdue at Michigan today. There's almost as many Purdue fans there as there are Michigan fans. This is where IU is heading under Woodson. Fan apathy is going to set in, and attendance will be poor. The program has lost any momentum. A change is necessary.
  18. Otzelberger at Iowa State has been mentioned on this board. Grant McCasland currently at Texas Tech has won everywhere he's been. Mitch Henderson from Princeton, Darian DeVries at Drake, or Schertz at ISU would be intriguing imo.
  19. I know there's bad feelings because IU fired his sister years ago, but Tony Bennett would be that proven winner so many want. I wonder if Bennett is ready for a change of scenery.
  20. Maybe "we're young" is code for I haven't required them to learn the plays to get playing time.
  21. The belief is that someone has reached out to former players and some of the YouTube personalities and asked they cut coach Woodson some slack. Assembly Call postgame after Penn State didn't want to discuss the macro issues of the program, instead focusing on the issues within the game. If you want access, you have to sometimes play ball with those in charge.
  22. Archie was a bad fit. His personality was just all wrong. Archie missed on his evaluation of several recruits which helped lead to his demise. But to be fair, Archie was hamstrung when he came into IU. Archie was a defensive oriented coach and a lot of the Crean players were offense first guys. It took a while to put in his defense. Also, if I remember correctly IU had APR issues and the Athletes Bill of Right, so he couldn't run off players to bring in a point guard he wanted.
  23. I agree. Our primary focus is to get the ball inside. Shooting the three is an afterthought. It's difficult to get rhythm or confidence when the three is an afterthought. We did run some action to get looks from three today and we missed those as well.
  24. We lost the turnover battle (IU 12- PSU 11) We lost the rebounding battle (IU 30-PSU 33) We lost steals (IU 5- PSU 6) We lost free throws (IU 14 of 25 - PSU 26 of 30) We lost the battle from three (IU 2 of 15 - PSU 9 of 21) This is a losing formula. We have to be extremely efficient on 2-point shots to make up for it and that's just not realistic against good teams. Still very few changes in the way we play all year. Coaching malpractice.
