  1. Bruce Pearl lied to NCAA investigators about an impermissible barbeque held for recruits. He was given a rather harsh 3-year show cause penalty.
  2. Most quality coaches are simply going to use IU as leverage to get an increase at their current jobs. If you are a top P5 coach you probably not interested in rebuilding Indiana. Really, why would you leave a program that you have rolling to come to Indiana? You might find that niche candidate that has a new AD they don't like or wants to move to the Midwest to be closer to family. But I would assume that most successful P5 coaches are comfortable where they're at. We, as IU fans, see us as sleeping giants. I'm not sure outsiders do.
  3. FAU has three freshmen guards coming in next year. Dusty seems to understand that guards win in college basketball.
  4. Bob Knight used to get on the team captain if the team wasn't playing well. The idea was the captain would then get on the other players and the team would play better. I'm not sure that dynamic still works in the age of NIL. It certainly doesn't work if players have other agendas than winning.
  5. I'm not a fan of the inmates running the asylum, but sometimes player feedback matters. I wonder if there will be players that enter the portal and let Dolson know that I love IU, but I'm not staying if Woodson remains coach.
  6. Scott Dolson must realize that the IU program needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Is a soon to be 66 year old Mike Woodson the guy to do it? That answer is obviously- no. Why wait on starting the rebuild? Financial? I've got to believe that there's a few wealthy alumni that would pay for this nightmare to end. Fairness? Archie got 4 years, so coach Woodson deserves 4 years to "play" head coach too. Asinine reasoning. Saving face? Dolson just gave an undeserved raise to Woodson 8 months ago. Is he worried that he would look incompetent? Yes, but another year of this would be even more incompetent and might cost you your job as well. We must cut loose Woodson and do a thorough job search to find someone that can build a program from scratch because this program has hit rock bottom.
  7. If young is Woodson's go to excuse, why not play Walker more this season?
  8. I've got to do better. I need to make sure that we're better prepared.
  9. I'm not even upset. I'm just numb.
  10. Please tell us that you forgot to type DWS.
  11. Worst case scenario is that Ware goes pro; Johnson, Walker, and Leal graduate; and Malik, Mgbako, Banks, Galloway, and Gunn put their names in the transfer portal. In this situation is Woodson held responsible for this **** show or does the administration just say this is the new normal?
  12. Xavier is a steppingstone job and IU is a job where careers go to die.
  13. Seems like a good fit. Although, after Arizona, I'm a little surprised Sean is leaving Xavier. Who gets Xavier? Holtmann or Mack?
  14. I'd love for coach Woodson to get a technical if a bad call goes against at home. Please show some passion and show these players that you want to win and that you'll fight for them. (Of course, it needs to be tactical and not in the closing minutes of a close game.)
  15. The last remaining hope for the 2024 class?
  16. I thought I read somewhere that part of Mgbako coming to IU was the promise that Woodson would play him at the 3. Personally, I don't expect Mgbako back unless NIL is just too crazy to turn down. I can't imagine that this year has gone as his family envisioned.
  17. Yes. Definitely some truth to that. It was also assumed that IU guy would run an offense that screens, cuts, takes good shots, and plays with discipline and court awareness. The jokes on us.
  18. I have no doubt that we have the NIL money to buy talented players to add to some quality returning players. We will have a talented team again next year. My questions are will we maximize the talent? Will we run more 4 out and 5 out offense? Will we be able to create team chemistry adding this many new players? Can Woodson find a way to beat teams that have similar or more talent? My fear is that we'll have a talented roster that underperforms and finishes middle of the pack in the Big Ten and the powers that be will see this as improvement.
  19. Tom Izzo has built a very good program at Michigan State and is a coaching great. However, over the last few years I can't help but feel that he's underachieved with very talented rosters.
  20. UCONN vs Creighton tonight on FS1. Could be a great game. I would love for Creighton to win. I'm tired of UCONN's success.
  21. My guess is both. My concern is with our inability to sign high school players. Getting just 1 or 2 high school players every year is not the way to build a sustainable program. They may be highly rated, but they may also leave after 1 or 2 years. We need to build the program with 3 and 4 year guys. That's how you build a program and culture. You can build a team with transfers, but not a program. I've heard from a head coach that it takes until February until players get to know each other.
  22. This is a good roster and would be competitive. There are a few issues imo. My guess is that Mgbako is going pro. That was the intent coming out of high school and I would speculate that the family saw nothing this year that would make them think there's any benefit to returning to IU (other than NIL). If Mgbako does return, his family want him to play the 3 and start. That would mean that Mc Neely and Mgbako both vying for playing time at small forward. Can McNeely play defense as a freshman? We'll see? If Queen comes it will be with a guarantee to start which means a lot of minutes with Reneau and Queen on the floor at the same time. So, we'll see a lot of 2 bigs offense again. We know that Reneau is just an average defender. Can Queen guard Big Ten players as a freshman? Thornton and McDaniel play on worse teams than us. They may not be as good as we think they are.
  23. I was initially depressed when I read this. I hope this is said for the benefit of recruits. Hard to recruit if players think you have one year left. So, I'm still holding out hope for retirement after next year.
  24. We better win the remaining home games or it could get ugly for Woodson, Dolson, and the team. Unless apathy has totally set in, there could be some major booing at Assembly Hall if we don't win these games.
