  1. Here's my expectations of an IU basketball coach. After the first 2 years, Woodson would have scored well on numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4. This year he would only score well on number 4. I feel like he has been way below expectations on 5-10. These would be my expectations of any new coach that we would bring in. Expectations for the IU Basketball Coach 1. Consistently be ranked in the top 20 nationally 2. Consistently be ranked in the upper third of the Big Ten and winning a Big Ten title once every 3-4 years 3. Win 90% of home games 4. Recruit quality young men that will positively represent the university on the floor and academically 5. Establish a midwestern recruiting base in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan 6. Recruit players whose intent is to play 2+ years in college basketball 7. Build the roster through high school recruiting and utilize the portal to complete the roster because of an unexpected departure 8. Play a modern style of basketball that attracts recruits and provides an opportunity of beating an athletically superior team 9. Establish a team identity 10. Establish a program culture
  2. MgBako has played better the last few weeks. His plan was to be a one and done. He will enter the draft.
  3. I hope they keep Howard.
  4. Self- Kansas > Illinois. Williams- North Carolina = Kansas (Williams was an alum, money had nothing to do with it) Beard- Texas > Texas Tech (Beard was a Texas alumnus/dream job) Kentucky > Memphis (Memphis a mid-major) IU < Auburn, IU < Alabama
  5. You're missing the point. Hiring a coach that's currently at a winning P5 program rarely happens even for so called Blue Bloods. Pearl's Auburn program is currently superior to IU. He's not leaving for IU and we are just being used. I'd love Oats, but the same thing goes for him. Why would he leave Alabama to come to IU? Our best shot might be Otzelberger from Iowa State. He's developing a solid P5 program, but he's never won the Big 12. Otzelberger did make a Sweet 16, but I've been told that could just be flash in the pan. I'm not even sure that he would see IU as an upgrade over Iowa State.
  6. Not sure what you mean by acting like a blue blood? Blue blood basketball programs: North Carolina- Hubert Davis Promoted from within. No previous head coaching experience. Prior to that Roy Willams came over from Kansas, but he was a North Carolina alumnus. UCLA- Mick Cronin came from mid-major Cincinnati. Prior to that, Steve Alford from mid-major New Mexico. Kansas- Hired Bill Self from Illinois. Prior to that hired Roy Williams who was an assistant at North Carolina. Duke- Jon Scheyer promoted from within. Prior to that hired Coach K from Army. Kentucky- hired Calipari from mid-major Memphis. Prior to that Billy Gillespie from Texas A & M. Connecticut (New Money)- Danny Hurley hired from mid-major Rhode Island. Kevin Ollie promoted from within. It appears that Blue Bloods hire from within or hire the hot mid-major coaches more than they hire from another P5 school.
  7. Here's one of many soon to come articles on why Michigan should keep Howard. The articles and national pundits telling us why we should keep Mike Woodson will be coming soon. Five reasons Michigan should keep beleaguered Juwan Howard as coach (msn.com)
  8. I posted this a week or so ago, but I think it needs repeating. I can't see IU pushing/forcing out Woodson to hire another former IU player or manager. That would be too much of an affront to the old guard (Woodson, Buckner, Wittman, etc), IMO, the only way Alford or May can be the coach here next year is if Woodson voluntarily resigns.
  9. We need Jake Diebler to win out. I don't want Dusty at Ohio State.
  10. After beating Maryland twice this year, I'm not sure that Kevin Willard was an upgrade over Mark Turgeon. I was surprised to find out that Turgeon is not coaching anywhere. Turgeon reminds me of Alford. He seems to be a solid, but not great coach.
  11. I wonder if there is some friction between Bruce and the AD. Auburn hired a new Athletic Director in 2022. You could be right about IU being his dream school. Bruce has been complimentary on IU in a couple of occasions. However, I would think the only reason a 64-year-old head coach would want to move from one major program to do a rebuild at another would be that he's not happy at Auburn.
  12. Just realized that IU and Maryland have the most home losses of the Big Ten teams. We need to start protecting our home court. Five losses at home should not happen.
  13. There were only 25 fouls called which I think benefitted us. I thought the refs were consistent and let both teams play. The lack of fouls allowed us to play Ware almost the whole game which certainly is vital for our defense. We shot free throws well today, but who knows what may have happened if we shot 8-10 more. We may have ended up closer to our season average.
  14. I thought we already punted on high school recruiting.
  15. They started Geronimo all year and he wasn't going to play at IU. He would have been with Banks and Sparks on our bench.
  16. Happy we won today. Also, very happy that Maryland isn't very well coached. How do you not foul Galloway every time in the last 90 seconds when you are trying to come back? I kept expecting they would, instead they tried playing straight defense and then fouled us anyways.
  17. Let's just enjoy this game and be happy for the players. Plenty of season left for evaluation.
  18. His entire IU career it seems like you get either good X or bad X. There doesn't seem to be an in-between. Today, we are getting good X.
  19. A lot of NBA scouts are there and we start playing our best half of the year. It can't be a coincidence.
  20. We are terrible at managing the end of the first half situations. Usually, we shoot too early. Today we didn't even get a shot off.
  21. Did we just give up 43 points in a half to Maryland? That's bad.
  22. Earlier in this thread, someone wrote that Rabjohns (I believe) said that IU was saving their recruiting days for portals players after this season. Sounds like the 2025 Indiana kids are not a priority for the staff.
  23. If Purdue is a 1 seed, I want Kentucky to be the 4 in their bracket.
