Only chance for next year is a couple players from transfer portal who are like WNBA bound type players… .Side-note: though they may do it somewhat on their own anyway many very top players may not take well to being told they are expected to live in the gym and work on expanding their game by playing out of position during recruiting.
-
If I remember correctly did you call last year that the players were leaving the team to the transfer portal while others were debating and a few days later to the surprise of many, it happened?
-
T. Moren has not forgotten how to coach. However, after losing 6 players to the transfer portal, IU Ladies were not able to get one high impact player from transfer portal last year…..not even Z because of injury history which continues….. but were only able to get very average players that would come with questionable potential and T. Moren was hoping she and staff could develop them…..just not good enough at this level. T. Moren knows it. T. Moren has always kept a talent thin roster…..2 or 3 (older 5 stars that can score needed from transfer portal..:.hard to win scoring in the 60s each game….most 5 star players will play some defense and can handle and pass the ball and some can even rebound ….that’s why they are 5 stars.
-
Not from the current staff.

Sometimes it’s best to stand pat.

And what NIL is available comparisons across big ten and top major schools in the whole U.S…..and how things have shook out for T. Moren (because NIL will be competitive in transfer portal). Mark Cuban and or a couple others could solve the NIL situation for IU Ladies Basketball coach if anyone knows what they are doing.
-
Give T. Moren UCONN players and she wins National Championship…like many coaches. Maybe, AD and T. Moren have talked a couple times. Has 2026 under 19 USA coach been announced? Last year it was announced in May. Sidenote: which does not look promising next year for this player because of her history….Z has no timeline and is not coming back soon from other foot injury. Don’t like either title “Fire Moren” nor “Time for Moren to Move On”….unless maybe used as motivation to get a big ten win.
-
Overall, T. Moren post game gave a good assessment of IU Ladies. I expect her to perform and reset through 28-29 season…and be given a contract extension after 27-28 which would mean success has been achieved…..or not (success means competing at the top of the big ten conference….I see Makalusky a big part of that success along with whoever ends up as IU Ladies over the next two years. (Expecting a good story line)…. and recruiting to be in much better shape over the next couple years.
-
Makalusky can be a good 3 point shooter and improve her all around game as she gets older with the right players. She can play as a freshman right now. However, if things don’t change with 0 wins I don’t know how you live in the gym to get better as a sophomore or throw in the towel and transfer. Makalusky is worth holding onto and will be very good with the right kind of team mates as in good players.

Speaking of Bargesser I seen her in video clips in NY, I think working with a trainer on her game last summer. This year 15 ppg, 79.1% fts, 45.6% fgs, 2 pfs, 37.3% 3 ball, 5.7 rbs, 2.1 tos while playing 31 minutes a game. I get the competition level….but Caffey could have worked under Bargesser because she worked hard and is much improved.

Contract runs through 26-27. So after the season fiasco of transferring I doubt if there is an extension. So bringing in the 26-27 recruits (4), keeping key players from this year’s team (maybe 4 or 5), and 2 or 3 of the best players from transfer portal would turn things around…getting 3 high impact players from transfer portal is a long shot)….to be competitive. Option 2: Call Molly Miller (as noted by others). Option 3: ? Correction: contract runs through 28-29

Arizona State Ladies Basketball coach has that personality and she wins to back it up that recruits and young people are attracted to. The couple short interviews I saw she is enthusiastic, high energy and confident.
-
Z continues out and it will probably silently continue from game to game. After 1 down 9x4=36 point loss. Is L. B. (one of the leaders on this team…and her absence was one of the excuses for last year’s difficulties) going to be good enough to start next year? pending what players return for 2026-2027. Take 3 players off this IU Ladies roster and replace them with Bargesser (who has improved and statistically proves it) Garzon, and Meister (and maybe even LaMendola)….IU Ladies would have more than 0 big ten wins. Losing the noted players that were already in the IU Ladies system for a number of years….yes there was going to be a drop off but the loss of these players to the transfer portal is proving out to be devastating to this IU Ladies basketball season.
-
Most of a group of good well fed guys come together and hunker down at IU for one or two years and bring national playoff game and then a national championship. Some remain. Then, just like that….many are gone. Such is life for the major colleges nowadays. And coaching staff will continue to hunker down.

Maybe, T. Moren deep down doesn’t want to deal with all the NIL nonsense Including how she may feel that she is at a disadvantage and has self actualized at IU. The Ladies college game seems to be moving faster than IU Ladies program. She may be ready in her mind for a new career trajectory……however, nothing from the horse’s mouth so this conversation is just speculation. -

T. Moren, Rhet W., and Box seemed to be a strong staff together along with many high character players. Box became coach at Miami Ohio and Rhet W. health seemed to coincide with some of the current IU Lady issues. -

Hard to win games with firepower of IU Ladies challenged to score more than in the 60s almost every big ten game….with S.C. scoring about a third+ of those points. Highest big ten point total this year is one game thus far vs Nebraska = 73. IU Ladies will lose a third+ of scoring from Shay C.
