Hiring, firing, or keeping someone based off of their race is a symptom of a losing mentality imho. -

@Chris007 what’s the scoop on the frontlines? Anyone packing boxes? Any confrontations or screaming matches to report? -

I suspect you’re right. Personally, I’d rather have Pearl though. -

Any news on the severity of the injuries to XJ and MR? -
If we lose at home to Iowa does this thread fire back up? I’ve kind of missed it.

Unless I’m mistaken (and that’s possible) Coach K and Roy Williams did this multiple times along with John Wooden. UK did it ‘96, ‘97, and ‘98. Then they did it again in 11 and 12 and 14 and 15. UCONN was close, they had 3 FF’s from 2009 to 2014. Tom Izzo went to 4 in 5 years from ‘99-‘04, and back to back in 09-10. Also, Brad Steven’s did it 10 years ago. All of these are examples of either back-to-back FF’s or three in five years. Why can’t we aim for that, too? Because RMK didn’t do it? Because of NIL? Sorry, fellas. For me BACK means we’ve climbed to the tippy top and not just accumulated a few E8’s and a couple second place finishes in the B1G.
-
What do you mean when you say “unreasonable and unachievable anywhere” ?
-
Close. Back to back or 3 in 5 years.
-
Right. Because of his success then, and consistently putting together final fours and championships into the early 90’s we still felt elite. So IMHO we either need multiple FFs in an short period of time or #6 to be “BACK.”
-
Coach K and Roy Williams did this multiple times. UCONN did it from 2009 to 2014. Heck, Tom Izzo did this twice. I say set the bar high.
-
What’s deep?

IMHO If a coach already has multiple titles under his belt he doesn’t have much to prove. If we were to have a single FF I wouldn’t consider that BACK. 2 FF in ten years wouldn’t persuade me much either. Too much time in between. E8’s are nice but also not persuasive for me. What’s your gauge for being BACK?
-
After we beat UK with the Watshot many (myself included) thought we were back. After CTC won a B1G title we joyously exclaimed “we’re back!” After CMW was hired, the strained relationships with former players was restored, we went to back-to-back tourneys, and we pouched MM from Kansas last May— it appeared we were going head-to-head with the big dogs for top recruits and we again said, “we’re back!” We are clearly NOT back to the glorious heights from which we once reigned, and I look back on such sentiments with cynicism. So my question for you is what constitutes being “BACK”? For me no amount of B1G titles = “BACK” For me, BACK isn’t measured by any number of victories against so called rivals, and BACK doesn’t have a thing to do with luring top recruits from anyone else. Personally, back would mean we’ve hung Banner 6, gone to back to back Final Fours, —OR— 3 Final Fours in five years. I admit this isn’t scientific or anything, and I’m open to being persuaded. But that’s how I see “BACK.” What say you?
-
Sorry, that we could get him.
-
What makes you say that?
-
Pearl would be my number one choice as well
-
I’d turn cartwheels to have Pearl. I Love what he did at USI. Would also be ecstatic with Drew from Baylor. He’s proven he can win against tough teams consistently. Heck, I’d even take Sampson for 5 years if we could get him back. I could be persuaded toward the Dusty train, but I still feel like he has something to prove, personally. I didn’t know he coached with Mike Davis at UAB.
-
I don’t things get turned around by adding new assistants. This is a leadership issue. If CMW doesn’t change/adapt things stay status quo imho.
-
So what are we expecting to be the minimum for CMW and company to keep their jobs after the season and what are the odds a change is made. my opinion is CMW could streak across the court mid-game and he’d still be the coach to begin next year. Short of an home run hire approaching us out of the blue, I’d say we’re stuck. Odds of a change being made is 5%.
