I saw Pitino’s name in the Schutte article, but didn’t in the Bozich one.

Interestingly, I didn’t see the Bozich article ever mention Pitino. After Steven’s and Matta it says, “Other names who are believed to be under consideration are Texas Tech coach Chris Beard, former Michigan coach John Beilein; Pacers assistant coach Calbert Cheaney; Baylor coach Scott Drew; Eric Musselman of Arkansas and Michigan State assistant coach Dane Fife, a former IU player.”

Pitino turned us down? Can you share the article you referenced?

Can someone help me understand why Todd Leary is on with Jim Coyle pointing out all of the team’s OBVIOUS insufficiencies but following his criticism by saying “CMW isn’t going anywhere and I don’t want a new coach bc there’s no home run hire out there and I don’t want to start over.” He on the payroll? Help me understand.

I’d say Pearl is unlikely, BUT imho he checks the most boxes that matter. A few other quality options, but he’s be the biggest get for me.

I’d dive into pool of razor blades to get Pearl. He’s done very well with less talent and at football schools. I’d take six years of his passion and intensity any day of the week.

So you fellas believe that if we lose 5 of 6 and flame out in the BTT we don’t make a move? I just can’t accept that. Coach’s comments are EXACTLY what you’d expect him to say publicly for all kinds of reasons. Some of those reasons are good and not JUST self-serving. If a couple of our target coaches go on deep runs and we continue to fizzle to the tune of 5 or 6 more L’s some kind of change is getting made and it won’t be an assistant or two. I don’t care what is said publicly. so maybe I’m still at the denial phase…

I may be in the minority here, but I’d love to see our starters and Leal back next year with a coach that demanded excellence from his players and had a plan and scheme to get that out of them. I think we have talent (minus a piece or two) but lack direction and vision.

I was just looking into this. Is there any way to know specifics like this in any coaches contract or are these kept under wraps?
