Just saw the post count go up and stopped by to see what the blow-up was.
I mean, it's not anything that surprised me.  It's exactly what Woodson's personality says he would do and it sounds par for the course for HH to suck in general as well.
Just looking forward to actual games being played, although I think every loss will just build this thread and infiltrate game threads as well.  My take at this point is that Woodson's three years in terms of winning have had okay -- not good, but okay -- results.  10-10 in conference last year wasn't bad, the non-conference results weren't not good.  And I think he would have been given more of a pass for missing the tournament if he just wasn't such a spiteful guy.
HH puts out an often self-centered product and given the circumstances, they weren't going to keep the access they had.
But overall, I do like the roster for next year and while you can say it's all about the NIL, there are a lot of schools with NIL that weren't able to bring in the guys they wanted and others spending $2 million on a single player because they whiffed on so many.  But because Woodson's behavior has been so abrasive, the measuring stick for a good majority of fans in terms of wins and losses is going to be such that it will be hard to achieve.

How Mike Woodson still has supporters, especially such diehard supporters, is beyond me. In no way does his job performance warrant it.
And at the end of the day, Mike Woodson would put those folks in the same category as the rest of us non-true fans if they dared to question his job security last spring.

You're as soft as Woody. I'm over your post. People point out where you're wrong and you ignore and feel sorry. Keep following blindly.

We’re paying top 15-20 coaching money while getting top 40-50 results the last 3 years. Underperform and get overpaid, seems like the IU way

I'm generally inclined to agree - particularly with your last sentence - but also that all high major coaches are going to have a pretty big ego and that's not by default a bad thing at all. Dan Hurley obsessed over no longer being the "third Hurley" and he's not done yet. They have a program motto at UConn "foot on the gas, then up their a$$" ... that reflects more arrogance to me than Woody's behavior.
On the bold, I would not go so far as to call it an "inappropriate level" but I definitely understand the sentiment Hoosier2017/others have relative to this part:
My turning point with Mike Woodson was when I drove through a monsoon to watch them at Rutgers despite a declared state of emergency in NJ, we played TERRIBLY and blew a winnable game to an awful team. Then in the post game, when asked a very simple question he gruffly barked about "I'm not going to explain myself to you or the fans." Not expecting him to break down the entire game in the press conference at all, but I'm not expecting the coach to totally blow off the fans when they need to hear a hopeful message.
Personally the true fans commentary comes off as tone deaf/unnecessarily combative towards your own. Didn't offend me because I get he's a competitor and wants to stick it to the naysayers, just find the target a bit weird. IMO its more insecurity than arrogance.
Look, he's our coach, and credit where it's due for him and the staff putting together a roster that is objectively better than last year's (not calling it perfect because it's not and I know people like to reference posts like this in a year's time and call people sunshine pumpers lol). I don't love the guy but I don't think he's the devil incarnate either.
Just want to win, and win big, consistently. Nothing else matters. Odds look better for next year than this past one.
But we can't win until we start playing games and that's not for a while. If anyone is spending considerable time being fixated with how much they believe CMW should not be the IUBB coach, may I suggest going for a 20-30 minute leisurely stroll around the block.

Why are you so angry? Like, all the time. Lighten up dude.  Most of us are just here talking about sports. No one dies at the end of the day if they don't "win" the argument.

Did Bob Knight regularly take shots at the fan base?
And Mike Woodson has Bob Knight-level arrogance while delivering Tom Allen results.

They did a terrible job last season as a staff/team then blamed the fans for having expectations and not rolling with one of the worst products I’ve watched at Indiana in a long time. Then Hired a crew to change the narrative online and try to attack any dissidents.

When, all he/they needed to do was genuinely explain why last year was a failure and what he is doing to avoid that this off-season.

I’m a true fan despite what any coach calls me because as an alumnus I’m rolling with Indiana no matter who the coach is and no matter what the circumstances are.

Everybody wants success (I think, finally including the admin/boosters/etc).

They are definitely trying this year and for that I’m grateful. I keep my fingers crossed Woodson has the basketball savvy to deliver the goods.

Now, if IU could get a competent coach from the portal we'd be all set.

I think what some people are missing is that while 3 point shooting volume is an issue, it's just one of many with Woodson's system. If it were just a trade off between 3s or close 2s by TJD or Reneau, that would be one thing. But that isn't what we're seeing.
Instead, IU consistently shoots substantially more long to mid-range 2s than is mathematically efficient.
Here is IU's full season shot chart compared to UConn's. As you can see, IU shoots many more long 2s than does an efficient modern offense.
This is a schematic issue, not a talent issue. While one can at least semi plausibly argue that Woodson's hand was forced on 3 point shooting by a lack of backcourt talent last year (although it doesn't really hold up over 3 years for the reasons a number of people have noted), that's hard to reconcile with IU's over reliance on long 2s that same season.
If the team is bad at shooting, then there is no reason to be taking so many mid ranged jumpers. But that is a shot that Woodson's system prioritizes, even though the analytics on the inefficiency of such an approach are clear.
Thus, while a lack of explanation point shooting volume is certainly an issue, it's just one symptom of the larger problem: Woodson's insistence on running an outdated offensive scheme.

One big factor is Sparks for the 5 position was pretty short and didn't seem to have an overly long wingspan...which is fine if you have some polish to your game, but Sparks was just a bull in a China shop....works at Ball State, doesn't work in the Big Ten.  This kid looks to be a little longer and he can hit a jump shot....Sparks was always extremely limited because if it was outside of 5 feet he was out of his range.  I liked Sparks hustle, but he was just so limited offensively that you were playing 4 on 5 offense....This guy will at least make his man play straight up defense.

Time will tell, but what's laughable to me is the suggestion that this is a top 15 offense. This whole line of argument also conspicuously sidesteps the fact that if guards who can create off the dribble are so essential to Woodson's offense, why it is that he willingly went into last season with a lack of such an essential ingredient to his offensive scheme.
And, of course, it also sidesteps the severe defensive regression IU has experienced each season under Woodson...

Not sure how anyone could have watched this coaching staff operate the last three years and think that because IU suddenly has Rice and Carlyle in the backcourt that that will lead to a significantly increased 3 point shooting volume.
IU has had playmakers, shooters, etc., over the last three years and still played post dominant. They just spent $1+ million on Ballo, and lord knows how much to retain Reneau. The offense is still going to be post dominant.
