Don’t forget that he inherited one of the top players in college basketball.

The Davis hire was absolutely racial. He got the one interim year due to the players and the timing of Knights firing. But he should’ve been fired after the Kent St loss and real search done. If never happened due to one BOT member. I heard the same story from multiple people in the room.

We saw the political and racial components in the Mike Davis and Kelvin Sampson hires. Could be the same thing here.

If our administration wasn’t as dumb as they are we wouldn’t have to. Sadly it is necessary.

Of the guys we can get I have no doubt there are a couple who would do really well here.

Not going into it here but check out his X page sometime. He won’t fit with our crazy administration. We need someone younger any how.

His political views are probably a much bigger obstacle for this administration than any baggage.

It was blatant nepotism and a reward for his buddy. QB isn’t a bright man but he’s not that dumb. And given that virtually every NBA to college hire had been a massive flop he certainly knew better. Arguably the dumbest hire I’ve ever seen in college basketball but I expect nothing less from this administration.

He’s also high strung much like Crean and definitely has that beer and burrito body. I love Pearl but the time has passed imo.

The sad thing is that if we could go back 4 years in a time machine I guarantee you QB still makes the same hire.

Don’t forget that we paid Archie $10M to leave and Tom Allen close to $20M.

Because he had one year and one year only where he had 2 of the top 5 players nationally. He wanted to go for it all and needed to plug holes by whatever means available.

Corruption?

If Brad had no interest he wouldn’t have let conversations drag on for weeks. He would’ve just said no immediately.

He’s possibly the worst college basketball coach I’ve ever seen if that’s baggage.

Part of the issue with our bad hires is that the administration won’t hire anyone with an ounce of baggage. They also won’t ever hire anyone that could ever become bigger than the program ever again. Stevens and May are really the only 2 that would satisfy both the fans and the administration. The fans want Beard or Pearl of the realistic candidates right now. I doubt either would ever get hired and if it’s someone else not named Stevens or May half the fan base will be rooting for them to fail from the hire and the will. That’s why while I want Woodson fired as much as anyone I have zero faith that the next hire will be much better. They won’t hire a killer. They’ll hire another yes man and the fans will have the torches and pitch forks out before he has even coached a game.

If this was anyone other top program we wouldn't have to worry about that. But this is IU. Have to keep rooting for losses unfortunately. Best scenario for all would be for Woody and Scott to negotiate a settlement and for Woody to then announce that this is his last season. But his ego is far too big. He's going with a security guard escort out of the building whenever he goes.

Wheels won't come off. Way too much talent. It will be somewhere in between really good and bad.

He'll win just enough this season to not get dismissed. He will continue coaching another 2 years with no extension. Dolson will do nothing.

You're forgetting Woody's massive ego. He's going nowhere voluntarily until he wins a natty.
