  1. Can't read the article but if it's the rant I'm thinking of it was at practice not a half time.
  2. DeVries grew up in Iowa watching the Hawkeyes and probably a lot of IU. If he didn't know what kind of roster he needed I just don't know what to say.
  3. He thought he could get away with it because he brought in shooters.
  4. Nail hits head. It's not the fact that we're losing it is why we are losing. Everyone knew this was poorly constructed roster at the time. We all knew you need size in the B1G to have a chance and called it out at the time. Everyone except Darian DeVries of course. It was a catastrophic mistake and one that will be very difficult for him to recover from. You could build an Indiana basketball roster through the portal 100 times and this shouldn't happen once. But DD thought you could play small ball in the B1G and win. He was dead wrong and he's the one getting paid $5M a year. Inexcusable.
  5. No. I think he knows the game pretty well. His personality or lack thereof will likely be his downfall.
  6. Pope, Kelsey, Dusty, likely McCollum, etc can all make the tournament year 1 but at Indiana it's always a 4 year rebuild. Maybe our administration consistently hiring crap coaches is the problem.
  7. He needs to do more than just make the tournament. Needs to be a really good season. A bubble team with a first weekend exit almost certainly equals an inevitable firing after year 3. Not sure how he accomplishes much more than that unless he gets extremely lucky or Dolson can find him a lot more $.
  8. Because they already had great gigs when we pursued them. The time to get Dusty was when he was at FAU. Same for Matta at Xavier or Brad at Butler. Or all the other schools wanting Cignetti. The time to strike was when he was at JMU not when he has IU on top of the world.
  9. Disagree bigly. I'd say he's another Buzz Williams and we know how Maryland is doing.
  10. IMO he's gonna need $15-20M this spring to have a prayer to turn it around. I don't know where that money comes from. Gonna have to over pay to get some real dudes.
  11. That's incorrect. We'd owe over $20M if we fired him now.
  12. It would be a $5M buyout at most unless we're going to fire him before he's even coached a game.
  13. Cig also just has a completely different personality than DeVries. He's someone players immediately respect and will run through walls for. DeVries is very boring and kind of Archie like. It might be his biggest problem.
  14. I can't imagine why college hoops is dying off. https://x.com/i/status/2013999896718676035
  15. Schertz maybe. He's only making $2M year at STL. Maybe 2 years $10M guaranteed would entice him. He wins enough the first 2 years to get a longer or deal or not and goes back to coaching a mid major after earning 8 figures very quickly.
  16. What do you think Michael Irvin is busting out today?
  17. Definitely getting a lot of Archie vibes with DeVries. The concern when hired from pundits like the Field of 68 was did he have the right personality for a pressure cooker gig. I think we're learning that the answer is no. Amazing that the administration keeps making the same mistakes. And yes, almost everyone wanted McCollum.
  18. There is a solution and honestly, it's probably about the only way we ever turn this ship around. https://x.com/i/status/1893010639192211723
  19. He was the one to hire. Everyone knew except for Dolson.
  20. I expected McCollum to put on a clinic and that's exactly what's happening. Why do we screw up every hire we make? It's really unbelievable. Seeing a lot of Archie similarities with DeVries. Just isn't cut out for a big time job.
  21. Should win. Both teams equally matched but we're at home. Lose and the season is definitely over although it probably already is.
