He looks like a very strong candidate. This guy is everything Carolina, born and raised, a former player, a former first round pick, and an assistant for 9 years under Williams. Big question is if UNC is ready for an African-American head coach.

I think we'll be ticked off a little bit. But then it will be quite an identity crisis for Brad going from Hoosier to Masshole to now what?
-
I agree and I think they already have someone. They would want to make this transition as seamless as possible.
-
I don't think UNC would offer as much as IU was willing to. But UNC would probably reach out to Stevens. Will be very interesting.
-
I think you're oversimplifying things. Technically you're right. Stevens can simply resign if he wanted IU job, but what if Celtics management team and the ownership were not cool with his sudden resignation in the middle of the season? Certainly a young coach like Stevens wouldn't want to hurt those peoples' feelings because he may want to come back to the NBA down the road. Boston Celtics is a powerful NBA franchise, and if a young coach like him wants to move on, it would need to be at least a mutual decision or he should be fired for performance reason.

Hands down RMK's homecoming game against none other than Purdue. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought Archie Miller, coaching staff, and players were disgrace to IU basketball. I wouldn't have cared if they would've lost the next 15 straight games, but they shouldn't have lost that Purdue game. That was how much I was ticked off. Even to this day, every time I think about that game, I still get pissed off.

I have no problem getting some help here and there if at all possible. I'm pretty sure coach Woodson would stay within the boundary.

I know this hire wasn't anyone's home run hire; certainly it wasn't mine either. Mid last week, I came across a few Youtube videos of NBA players praising Woodson, and thought 'Wait, if it's not going to be Stevens. Mike Woodson could be a consolation prize.' and started posting positive remarks on Woodson. Nothing's guaranteed, even for our once golden boy Brad ******* Stevens. But I'm happy for the hire and also cautiously optimistic. One thing for sure is that coach Woodson, IU, and the entire alumni base WILL pour all resources at their disposal for the success of IU basketball because THIS HAS TO WORK and there's no other option. Right now, national media, for the most part, is laughing at us. The harsh reality is, despite our eternal love for IU basketball, this head coaching gig is not that attractive in year 2021 after 2 decades of continued failures. I believe Dolson has taken his time and done all the due diligence he could possibly do. My guess is he didn't get positive responses from all the sexy candidates we talked about on this board, which possibly led to the Holtmann thing. To me, the fact that IU contacted Holtmann meant that IU ran out of options. The first thing I thought about after hearing Holtmann rumor (or truth) was Mike Woodson because he was pretty much the only one left who is qualified and possibly has the mental fortitude to take this gig. I really feel that this time it had to be coach Woodson, and I'm happy he said yes. Again this has to work. Failure is not an option any more. I believe and hope all stakeholders of Indiana basketball would feel the same way and get behind coach Woodson for success. Go Hoosiers!!

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

If, for whatever reason, we can't get one of Stevens, Oats, or Beard, I would rather want to see Woodson than another mid major coach. One of the areas Archie failed at IU was his inability to handle star players and players' egos and jealousy, which is always detrimental to team chemistry. I'm 100% sure Woodson has abolutely no problem handling college kids if he was able to demand respect from Carmelo Anthony. Moser could work at IU, but he, just like Archie, never recruited high school star players and 5 stars of the world. I don't see any advantage guys like Moser have over Woodson. Woodson just needs excellent assistants who've been around college games for a long time and know how to recruit and manage college kids' lives on and off the court...perferably one of Fife or Lewis, and either one will be Woodson's successor when he retires. -

Did Juwan Howard have college experience? If a coach can coach, he can coach regardless of basketball levels. If it's gotta be Woodson in the end, he just needs assistants who can sell our program and recruit. -
Candidate Thread: Porter Moser

I don't believe this. He said what he had to say before the game, but if bigger programs throw 3+ millions, very hard to say no time after time unless he's there at Loyola not only for coaching basketball but also for religious reason. I don't think so. -
Candidate Thread: Porter Moser

UI played the worst game of the season and made Moser look like the next coach K. -
Goodman probably wants to be a IU fans' enemy #1. When people who crave attention don't get the desired amount of attention and love, they deliberately make people to hate him. They think of 'hate' a different kind of attention. They can't stand indifference.

I thought so. That was just weird.

Is this our version of 'March Madness'?
