You're right, we don't know. With Beard it very well could be that they looked at his 52% P4 conference winning record instead of his off the court issues and said, "no, thanks." With Wade, it was very likely that he still had 1+ year left on his show cause. At the end of the day, whatever the reason, those schools decided they would rather hire a pair of coaches with 0 combined NCAAT wins instead of Beard or Wade.

It's what the peegs crew say about McDermott. It's safe to say that while they don't have the best info, they're certainly more informed than Joe Schmoe on a message board.
-
Wade knowingly and intentionally broke the NCAA rules. When he got caught, he compounded the problem by lying. This last part is what earned him the show cause, just like Sampson. It really makes one question his morals and ability to make ethical decisions. Yes, what he did is now allowed but what's to say he won't break some other rule which he deems inconvenient? I wouldn't have a problem with it if IU were to hire him but I can totally understand why they won't.
-
It's also thought by some that McDermott would take the job but there hasn't really been contact between IU and him/his agent.

The peegs crew released an updated hot board. The big takeaway from that is that Clemson is working on an extension for Brownell. Sign that ****, Brad! They also say that they're hearing Collins a lot in the last few days.

It seems strange to me for a guy who blames the fans to spend so much time on message boards talking to fans. People do strange things. /shrug

I wasn't referring to you or really anyone else on this board. I was referring to some journalists and talking heads. I also don't think it's Stevens. I didn't buy that talk even last time.

That's odd since we're told we're delusional for thinking IU might be a somewhat desirable job.

First Pluto, now this.

That's if they fire him. The buyout he pays to the school if he leaves is only 20% of the remaining contract (as opposed to 50% to him for getting fired) which comes out to $3.3M. I wish it was $8M if he left. I still think $3.3M is too much to pay for him but I could see IU doing that. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/sports/college/clemson/2025/03/12/clemson-basketball-brad-brownell-indiana-coach/81946546007/

It's not different. Seeing things as smokescreens is just a form of denial. It's basically saying "fake news!" any time the information doesn't align with their wishes. It lets people hold out the hope for their preferred candidate or that the candidate they don't want won't be it. There's probably plenty of inaccurate information going around, but I very much doubt that's intentional.

Unless it's his buddy Brad Stevens.... what a twist in this drama. Spoiler: It's not him.

Talk to the mods, they'll get you a refund since you're not pleased with the product. Thanks for contributing this gem of insight into the coaching search.

No done deal for Brad to IU. Brad to IU is just done.
-
Man, I never could have imagined a day where I'd be rooting for IU to make the NCAAT more because it would end their season sooner than not making it than just because I want them to make it. Crazy days.

IU is hiring Gates, Stevens to Missouri?
-
I'm thinking Woodson won't be the coach in the likely case that IU has to play in the Crown. It'll probably be one of the assistants as an interim.
-
I would give him a very unenthusiastic chance. To me, it would signal that IU is very okay with being mediocre so I would be even less invested in the team than I currently am. I'd probably just check scores after the fact and watch 1 or 2 games the first year. If I couldn't watch a game, I probably wouldn't bother to have live updates on my phone like I do now. Then if it looks like it was actually a good hire, I'd start to come back but it would be slow.
-
Probably because you have gone after others for their grammar in the past and not as a joke. It's par for the course with you. Periods almost always go inside the quotation marks in the US.
-
Even Turgeon wouldn't be as bad as the Woodson hire.

Remember, kids, KwaC is whack.

KwaC is back.

Not only do I not believe that that poster is in the know, I don't believe they're even female. I agree on the unmarried part.

Getting this thread warmed up in case Dolson hires someone like Brownell.
