I don't think it'll be Stevens but the quote he used as Stevens' denial was even weaker than that. Goodman didn't quote Stevens saying that he isn't a candidate, just that Stevens loved Boston and his coworkers. They way it was posted, it seemed that it was Goodman's interpretation that Stevens isn't a candidate.

That fluke FF run did earn him another year plus a raise and extension which likely results in a higher buyout. So he has that going for him. It just goes to show that the NCAAT is wild and crazy things happen. 1 good run does not indicate a good coach, nor does a flameout or two indicate a bad coach. They're data points in the larger resume. On the other hand, a coach with a recent FF is available with no buyout! Imagine what he could do with IU's resources! lol

Exceed expectations in the last 10 years? 0 times. It's been rare to even reach expectations in that time. I just want to get back to talking about seed instead of in we're in or not.

I'm glad it looks like IU will make the tournament but I sure am tired of squeaking in. I hope the next coach is wildly successful and bubble years are few and far between while years with no chance are pretty much nonexistent. Nonsense. Former players can't attend IU (or any other) basketball games without having some ulterior motive related to the coaching search.

The guys at peegs are saying that they've heard that IU's stance on Facial Hair is softening and he might have a legitimate chance at being a real candidate. It started a storm on this site (and others). I personally agree with you that I just don't see it having a chance of happening for the reasons you state if the administration themselves are willing to disregard his past, which I certainly hope they aren't. In that same discussion, the peegs guys also said their information is 2nd and 3rd hand and only a very small group of people know what's actually going on in the search. They aren't part of that group.
