  1. He won't be missed by me.
  2. Speaking of clowns, wasn't it you who started posting like you had inside information then turned around and admitted you didn't have inside info when people started calling you out only to then start trying to act like an insider again?
  3. 5th choice? 10th choice? Maybe, we don't know. If we landed someone that far down the list and he was still a sitting P5 coach, like DeVries was, maybe we're not as bad off as some people (like you) seem to think. Maybe he'll bomb. Maybe he'll be just okay. Maybe he'll end up being great. No one knows yet. I'm satisfied (and optimistic) but not super ecstatic with the hire and plan to actually give him some time to show us what he can do.
  4. That was $17M in basketball spending, not NIL. Recruiting costs, salaries, etc. NIL isn't university money so that probably wasn't factored in.
  5. Coal miners wouldn't leave for a better opportunity? I've never heard of a coal miner who loves their job. People in WV wouldn't leave for millions more? The whole thing comes off as extremely butthurt BS.
  6. You sure handle rejection well. If it makes you feel any better, Stevens will probably never coach college ball again.
  7. I'm hoping (but not expecting) that IU goes the coordinator route. An assistant coach that specializes in defense, another that specializes in offense, and one that is great at skill development. A GM to be the recruiting expert.
  8. I guess it depends on how much of their revenue share other schools are committing to men's basketball. IU's NIL was already very high. Revenue sharing is capped at $20.5M with a large chunk going to football and some of it needs to go to women's sports. I agree that about $2M of revenue share seems low, but we'll need to see how much it ends up being and how that compares to other schools. That said, I think that $7M would already have them up there just like they were with NIL. Edit: Old Farts post make sense that it's $7 in just NIL then more after rev share. I read it the same way you did.
  9. I've seen a few people mention Goode and Small for next year. I'd be shocked if Goode gets a waiver since it's very unlikely. His chances look good compared to those for Small to get another year. So I wouldn't count on either of those 2. Tucker DeVries will get another year.
  10. I say I'm happy to have him instead of Beard.
  11. Someone posted this article in the other thread but I thought I'd share it here for those that may have missed it. It's a good read. I recommend it those on the fence about him to read it, it might sway you to a more positive outlook on the hire. I don't think people who are set against this hire will change their minds no matter what unless he starts winning games. https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/todds-take-a-curt-cignetti-for-indiana-basketball-what-i-saw-darian-devries-do-at-drake-qualifies-01jpnd62eh7q
  12. So Stevens was a yes for 6 weeks then all of a sudden changed to a no? That would mean that Stevens is flakey and/or a d***. He doesn't come off as either of those things. Sorry, I'm not buying that.
  13. I like this hire, it seems solid with quite a bit of upside. Right now I'd probably give it a B or B+. Has experience as an assistant coach under Altman and McDermott. Turned Drake around year 1. Finished top 2 in the conference 5/6 years. Won the MVC tournament twice. Got Drake its first at large tournament bid. Won 1 NCAA game in the First Four. Turned WV around year 1. While his 1 year at WVU wasn't off the charts good, it was a huge step up from the previous year and they should have made the tournament. Had a top 15 defense. Should be able to bring his son and some other good players with him. Had 3 4* incoming freshmen for WVU so he shows he can recruit. I look at the conference tournament wins and the 1 First Four game as having some postseason success.
  14. As voted on by other D1 coaches. What do those "experts" know?
  15. Yeah, I'm waiting for someone else to say the same thing before I think it's done.
  16. Osterman didn't lie. He said that all the noise was coming from outside of IU, i.e. agents. Rabby just said basically the same thing, that agents are pumping confidence that it's DeVries.
  17. I'm guessing each of those NCAA appearances were due to winning their conference tournament? So that would be 5/6 years finishing top 2 in conference regular season plus 3 times winning the conference tournament. So even though he has 0 NCAA wins, he does have some postseason success in that regard.
  18. Mr. Old Fart, We have processed your request. After much deliberation and careful consideration, we have decided to reject it and keep posting. If you have any questions, please drop them in the nearest trashcan and we'll get to them as soon as possible. Best Regards
  19. KwaC. Call him/her KwaC. Everyone will know who you're talking about. I doubt it's Osterman.
  20. We'll discuss this in this thread while you're there and get back to you with an answer in about 10 pages.
  21. So you're saying it's Brad? We can see through this smokescreen. I kid, I kid.
