So hyperbolic. As far as I've seen, not one person is saying, or even implying, that Kent State is "an unstoppable beast." What people are saying is that this isn't a gimme game that IU can just sleepwalk through. If they don't show up to play, Kent State can beat them. Since this IU team is inconsistent and doesn't seem to always show up to play, therein lies the concern.

Just need a few "silent verbal" posts to go along with these "imminent commitment" posts that are immediately refuted by others saying he's nowhere close to committing and it'll be just like the Trey Kaufman recruitment. Hopefully it'll turn out better in both the school chosen and his impact at the college level than that one, though.

Yes!

Just because IU won the game doesn't mean the played great perimeter defense. In fact, they won despite their perimeter defense which simply wasn't very good that game. It's one of the last 4 games that IU has played and the perimeter D wasn't very good in 3 out of the 4. Even in the other (Michigan), they gave up 9 3-pointers. So the trend for the perimeter D leaves a lot to be desired. That's why.

And the farther he has to reach down the more likely it'll be a tech on the defender.

He averaged 8.1 3PA last year, not 4.

I see that now. I was responding to a post talking about recent games which said IU only played poor defense against Iowa and MSU. I was pointing out that in the recent games against Maryland and PSU, they played worst perimeter D than it would appear from just looking at the end of game stats. The key word being "recent." I even gave numbers which could've been used to determine which game I was talking about.
-
It may have come in spurts but Maryland missed 4 3-pointers in the last minute and ended up 9-24 for the game. That means that entering that final minute they were 9-20 which is 45%. So through 39 minutes of the game Maryland was hitting at a rate of 45% and it just went down because they were jacking 3s to try to come back. That doesn't look like solid perimeter D to me.
-
For the majority of the games against Maryland and PSU IU was letting them hit well over 40%. The final percentages ended up in the mid 30%s but that doesn't tell the story of how poorly the perimeter defense was for the majority of those two games. Maryland, for example, was 9 of 20 until the last minute or so.

It makes even less sense now with the transfer portal being what it is now. Take a chance in a kid and if it doesn't work out they can be immediately eligible at a new school.

Dude is from France. Why did he even bother going to college if he's going to do this? This is from 2 months ago but it has him as a second round pick: https://www.nbascoutinglive.com/yohan-traore/

Ahhhh, poor Rutger. Counterpoint to the the Rutger fan: screw Rutger. Also, the totality of their resume wasn't good enough. The OOC portion was a total joke. Did I mention screw Rutger?

Providence 40% chance against pUKe. Oral Roberts 21% chance against Dook.

"Although he had NIL money exceeding six figures, according to sources his priority was more NIL deals. And he was not happy about playing time. It was hard to justify that much more playing time for a player who stopped working, and acted as if he was better than his production. He is talented. He isn’t talented enough to be lazy." Ouch. They did also say some good things about him so I don't think it was just a hit piece. Sounds like a "pass" to me. https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mac-engel/article272966515.html

I guess that's one way to tell a player he's not welcome back next year. Just put his name in the portal.

Stewart was a Miller addition. He was also one that seemed to cause chemistry issues. Unlike Kopp and Xavier (although Xavier has made questionable decisions off the court). Durr was another Woodson addition.
