  1. Maybe he gets drafted in the 2nd round. Maybe. But he's not an NBA player. I can't fault Edey for going for it. Probably ends up overseas, where he can earn pretty good money playing professionally. (Assuming he doesn't come back.)
  2. I don’t know the backdrop to the asserted “complaining” or “cheating” comments or if they even happened whatever they are, not weighing in on that though it strikes me as silly, but what you reference here is just fact, the whole NIL world is the wild west and it should be regulated. I don’t understand anyone who would say otherwise. Ok, maybe Calipari, Self
  3. Talk about early, we don’t even know our team yet
  4. Dang it I was about to start a 3rd thread :)
  5. Where I am on Banks and Gunn is we really don't know at this point. Will they be developed and ready as sophs to play good minutes, on a team that we think is trying to develop its roster into a contending team? Just haven't seen enough of either to know at this point imo.
  6. 100%. No way is Gallo a 7 or 8 guy. I'm also in the camp that thinks that for IU to contend at the top, we need to improve our scoring and guard play and Gallo, as much as I like him (one of my favorites), is better suited to a 6th man role -- an excellent 6th man. Somewhat like a Sheehey. His outside shooting, though, improved significantly, his D and energy are usually top flight (though his aggressiveness still leads to quick fouls at time) -- first off the bench imo.
  7. "With Berger, the Fever get strength, toughness, defense and playmaking at the point guard spot -- and someone who will bring in fans, as she was such a popular player at nearby Indiana University." https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/36154575/wnba-draft-2023-team-grades-indiana-fever-aliyah-boston Yep
  8. Here’s to hoping that bears out. Ware is def a p&r guy and mobile that’s a real plus for me. Need to see how the O is set and who else joins.
  9. Is it .. could it be ... time for the Carlton dance?
  10. Which is the real reason Bird left. To his credit, IT, after much effort, later prevailed on RMK to let him run the floor, and then came the NC.
  11. Yeah respectfully disagree. Rec ball didn't make him Larry Legend, he did. May have been good for Knight? Lol.
  12. Being honest, Bird would've become Larry Legend wherever he went. Transcendent player.
  13. ^^ And might as well change the thread title
  14. Whatever, UCONN wins, I win my office pool and my partners have to all congratulate me and give me an official NCAA ball trophy while sucking eggs because Texas lost. I just can’t feel down . :)
  15. I completely get this feeling of potential just not breaking through. But Imo it goes too far into the negative on IU when we get into the past 20 years .It’s jmo, and not really directed at you or anyone, just quoting you as part of the discussion. Under Sampson we were surging. 24-4 when Sampson-Gate broke. We were one of the best teams in the country. We were on the cusp, bball wise, but then we all know now how screwed up academics and culture had become under Sampson. So then blam, Crean comes in, has to play a baseball player walkon, no players, the school idiotically self-destroyed the program, requiring a complete rebuild. He gets Yogi, Cody to complement Vic, and rebuilds to 3 SW16’s, 2 Big T titles, including the Nation’s then longest-running #1 ranked team, the years with Hulls, Wat, Bryant, OG, etc, we were a destination program again and popular and highly regarded as a program for several years, but then crean wasn’t exactly a bball genius, lost the HS coaches, failed to recruit consistently to fill the gaps of the several players we sent to the NBA, and it was time to move on, and back to mediocrity we fell. And God help us all CAM comes in and he’s the worst coach ever at IU, a terrible fit and we’re at best mediocre. But that last group of years under CAM or Crean’s last isn’t 20 years or post-RMK. Really just an inaccurate picture flowing from disgust over the end of diet coke man and what CAM did to us, imo. For me, I’ve more or less given up thinking IU will ever be the IU I grew up with, but I also don’t think we’re done being a fairly regular top of the B1G competing team. We just finished 2d in the B1G, with a NPOY level player who will likely be drafted and another guy who will be drafted in the 1st round and it’s Woodson’s 2d year. I have some issues with his stubbornness and decisions but he’s clearly heads above Crean and CAM, recruited well early, and there’s reason to think that will pick up along with portal use and we’ll be back regularly at the top of the B1G and contending for a run. Time will tell, but consider UCONN. They largely disappeared for a while, now they’re back in the NC. I can see IU doing that too.
  16. And this was also the attempted discussion, but it just kept coming back to why Isn’t Yogi a good comparison…. Cupps looks like a strong incoming pure point in his own right, not to mention he’s been helping in recruiting. Good that he has X (we think) to learn from, and lots of reason to think he’ll develop well.
  17. Go back and read the posts Gleas, that’s not how it went. He compared Cupps to Yogi directly and has basically stood by that comparison including his skill level. The Hulls comparison was in response, and frankly it’s closer, Hulls was really a 2 but played both on ball and off, was an excellent shooter, more cerebral less speed, not exceptionally athletic but not unathletic, sees the floor well. This isn’t a discussion of hey he’s Hulls, it’s that he is not on Yogi’s level or very similar to Yogi coming in, and he’s not. At one point the comment was that his burst was maybe a little slower than Yogi, and that’s not even remotely accurate. That was the discussion
  18. Well my dumpster fire of a bracket won my office pool - thanks UCONN. This is like some kind of moral support poster - never give up, lol
  19. Yes good point- we played without our starting point all season, hard to know if things would have gelled with him running the offense.
  20. Go UCONN! All that’s left of my bracket says, please
  21. You’re literally the only one lol. He’s not Yogi, why he can’t be good in his own right, and not be similar to the 5-star incoming, immediate starting, lightening quick, future NBA player that Yogi was, I just don’t understand.
  22. Really something, 9 seed and 1 point from the Final. Props
