  1. If paying the players wasn't worth it, the schools wouldn't do it. Very simple. The players are a huge part of the equation just like the university brands are important.
  2. If we are going to look at a mid season G League addition, can it please at least be a 7 foot big guy? Lol
  3. Taking advantage of the system? Do they mean participating in the American free market as our judicial branch of government has decided they are able to? Lol. What legislation would they like to see passed on their own earning potential? They have a skillset worth paying for. It's really that simple.
  4. And there'd be no product worth watching and no money to be made at all.
  5. Something something free markets
  6. Not sure there's a better thread for this, but thought this was too absurd not to share: https://marathonhandbook.com/d3-runner-banned-for-accepting-donation-to-help-pay-for-college/ Why exactly is the NCAA still a thing again?
  7. Whit is a very, very good coach. I wouldn't be "worried" to see him at Michigan because Indiana happens to have a great (the greatest?) coach. I do think he'd make them orders of magnitude more competitive than Moore. Fun times ahead in Big Ten football.
  8. I can't even tell if this is serious lol... but if so, very cool. I'd be shocked for many reasons. Eligibility rules make no sense to me at all anymore. But he would certainly be a major gamechanger. Not holding my breath
  9. With Nnaji, apparently the Knicks will retain his draft rights. This basically appears like it could help set a precedent that would be more similar to NHL rules where a HS/euro player could be drafted and "stashed" in college instead of going/staying overseas.
  10. I am good with paying these kids crazy money and even letting them transfer two times without sitting a full year, but the key word there is "kids." 22 year olds like the guy BYU added shouldn't be able to join mid season, play, and have 3 years of eligibility after burning out in the G League. College programs shouldn't even be able to entertain the idea of adding guys who have been drafted by the NBA already. I hate it. But as long as it's allowed I wish we'd exploit it to our advantage. Will be curious if any of these guys are difference makers when they start playing. Definitely makes it harder to maintain interest as a fan.
  11. We are at our best with Dorn and Wilkerson sharing the floor IMO
  12. I thought about making a similar post a few days ago. And they just lost to Will Wade's 9-4 NC State team by 14. Wade and Beard were thought by many to be the "sure thing" hires... DDV has a better record so far. McCollum has the best record of the 4 so far and he was looked at quite skeptically. I am definitely down on the team's ceiling at this point in the year, but we could still make the tournament and that would be a successful year 1. Need to upgrade the roster in year 2. Coach K had a losing record at Duke 2 out of his first 3 seasons. Took Hurley 5 years to win a title at UConn. This is why I don't judge coaches too harshly until their third season. More often than not it takes some time to get things rolling. Just where the program is. The DDV hire was never going to change that overnight. Neither would have Wade or Beard.
  13. The same Ed Cooley who allegedly left Providence because his cheating on his spouse was becoming too much of an open secret around town? Lol... yeah that tracks
  14. Nova Wisconsin is a 3 point game with 2 mins and change left
  15. Abdullah Ahmed may be doing the same sort of thing at BYU where he joins the team mid season at the semester break. He was the C choosing between BYU and Houston when Diane was committing. BYU is already a very good team/roster and now they go to the G league to fill a big hole mid season. Sort of begs the question... in the current landscape, do you even want to start the season with all 13 spots filled? Or better to go in with 11 or 12 and pick up some amateur pros at the midway point.
  16. IMO we will eventually end up getting the B10, SEC, and couple handfuls of other big programs breaking off forming their own semi pro league backed by VC/PE. Get a collective bargaining agreement in place with the players. Maybe the teams will start off leasing the facilities at the schools and affiliation will loosen over time. A "transfer" window (free agency) and relegation like with professional soccer.
  17. Free agency is basically here
