Only 3 teams in the history of the NCAA tournament has gotten an at large bid with being less then 4 games over .500 and the last team to do it was in 2001 I believe. Maybe they get in with less but history says they won’t. *Only a couple of teams have gotten in with 15 losses.* So no, I won’t admit I was wrong about something I wasn’t wrong about. Even before Marquette went to the Big East, they were in the C-USA which was actually good then. The funny thing is that while in the C-USA, Marquette missed the tourney 4 out of 6 years. The two years they went they went out the first round and then made the Final Four the year before. And in those 6 years they finished 15-14(8-8), 15-14(9-7), 26-7(13-3), 27-6(14-2), 19-12(8-8) and 19-12(7-9) but as soon as they went to the Big East, he went to the NCAA tourney 3 straight seasons even after missing the two years prior and finished 20-11(10-6),24-10(10-6) and 25-10(11-7). Yea.... but Maryland has been one of the best teams in the Big Ten since they’ve moved here. They’ve only missed the tourney once in 2018. They missed the tourney his first 3 seasons, all being in the ACC. His 4th season, the first in the B1G, they go 14-4 in conference. Then 12-6, 12-6, 8-10, 13-7 last season and are 12-3 right now. I’m at the point where I want to see Franklin, Hunter and TJD starting no questions. Now the fill in around that is difficult. I think Smith works best at the 4. Went into it thinking that? No. Walked out it knowing that? Yes. We were an odd group of kids that were all best friends. For whatever reason during school ball, we’d go 4-12 or something and it seemed like we sucked while being robots to terrible offenses and guys who couldn’t coach us. But in AAU we’d go 15-5 looking like a well oiled machine. The only times we looked bad is when we would get screwed up at the sports plex in Bloomington because they’d always throw us into the 4A tourneys and moving one of their Bloomington teams into the 2A tourneys. Which we quit going there because of it being rigged like no other. But certain systems just don’t work for kids and that’s frustrating and it can snowball. I don’t think these players are that dumb and probably see what fans say and feel the system Archie runs doesn’t work, and it doesn’t. Archie’s offensive system is god awful.
