Needs to go back to the A10 or something. That kind of thing will work at small schools. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Interesting tidbit. So I know people have talked about Purdue winning 15 of the last 20 meetings. Which dates back to Creans first season. In that time, there has only been one meeting between the two where both are ranked, which cane in Yogis senior season in Bloomington as we beat them 77-73. IU has been ranked in 7 of the other 19, going 4-2 and being ranked as high as #1. Purdue has been ranked in 9 of the other 12 and going 9-0 and being ranked as high as #3. Purdue is also 3-0 in the 3 games where both are unranked. As for the 20 games before that, Indiana went 13-7 from 1998-2008. They met as ranked teams 4 times and Indiana went 3-1. Indiana was the only ranked team in 5 games and went 2-3. Purdue was the only ranked team in 3 games and went 1-2. Both were unranked in 8 games and Indiana went 7-1. I really don’t understand the thought that we don’t need guys who can go get their own. Makes no sense. TJD has shown flashes and that’s when we’ve been best. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Do you want to compete for titles or for 4th place in the Big Ten every year? Wisconsin did that forever and what finally put them over the top? Two dudes who could go score at any time needed in Kaminsky and Dekker. Wisconsin is built on team play too right? How about Virginia last season? Built on team play right? But they also had Guy, Jerome and hunter who go go score on anyone in the country when Virginia needed it. Remember when Indiana has been good in the last decade? Had Zeller, Oladipo and Yogi? Name an elite team and basically every single one of them had a guy who could go get their own. Has nothing to do with not playing team ball or selfish. Has everything to do with having a guy who can take the team up another level because they are always a threat to score. Devonte Green isn’t close to that. He’s a role player. We are talking about the Currys, Jimmers and Hields here. Great college players that are needed to compete at the highest level. Lander has that potential. Heck look at other teams in the Big Ten. Maryland has Cowan/Smith, Michigan State has Winston, Iowa has Garza, Illinois has Ayo, Penn St has Stevens, Ohio State has Wesson. You have to have those guys in March. I know you don’t want anyone like that on the team, but you have to have them if you want to get back to competing for national titles. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Wright was pretty good. A bit full of himself but those were some teams with a bad coach. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Yes, Verdell could in fact create for himself and he had the best mid range pull up of any player at IU since then. Couldn’t hit 3’s but could hit a 17 footer. Hulls could create as well, whether it were for himself or others. And creating isn’t just with the ball, sometimes you have to create things off the ball and Hulls did that a lot. Rob doesn’t create often at all. He does some dribbling. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Well let’s see about some of the best players IU has had recently... Yogi could create his own shot. He was pretty good and we were good with him. Troy Williams could. James Blackmon could. Robert Johnson could. Cody Zeller, Victor Oladipo, Jordy Hulls, Verdell Jones, Eric Gordon, DJ White, Jared Jeffries, AJ Guyton, Calbert Chaney, Damon Bailey, Steve Alford, Isaiah Thomas... so yea... creating for yourself and others is a pretty good quality. Rob is like 1/3 the player Yogi was. And that’s what we are getting. Average and a backup. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Seinfeld. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Some people just aren’t good at it no matter how much they practice. Watford had an odd shot but he was a great shooter. Shawn Marion would be more trustworthy shooting 3’s than our guys and that was ugly. Rob and Al don’t have terrible mechanics, they just aren’t great shooters. Franklin though needs his shot fixed because he has a hitch in it. But those are things that should be worked on as a young kid. It’s something that’s up to both player and coach. Newkirk wasn’t a good playmaker, he wasn’t a scorer, he couldn’t break anyone down off the dribble, made bad decisions, showed some flashes(even when at Pitt) but he was just a backup. So what’s the difference from he and Phinisee? Both were even ranked in about the same area coming out of HS. Newkirk was #120 in the 2013 class and Rob was #135 in the 2018 class. If you believe Josh Newkirk is a backup, then Phinisee is a backup too. He’s a good backup. He’s just not a good starter unless you have a star SG. But we just have another guy who is also a backup in the starting lineup. He’s not playmaker, a scorer, a leader. He’s just kinda out there. He’s shown some ability to do things, but it’s not often. He just doesn’t have that mentality. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Or he’s just what we’ve seen. A backup point guard. Don’t know why that’s wild to think. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

They were just mad because it wasn’t a year of freshmen. Instead you had guys like Zeller/Oladipo, Russ Mith/Siva, Burke/Hardaway, Plumlee/Curry and more. Was an awesome year. But freshmen they hyped up like Nerlens and Shabazz didn’t live up. Mountain West Conference was really good that year too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Problem is don’t know if it’s a compliment or not. Our guards are just bad. Leal was going to be our best 2 guard likely coming into next season anyways unless Franklin makes some massive jump. But Archie won’t start two freshman. He will start Rob and Al again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

He’s not proven a bit to be anymore than a role player. He’s not a scorer. He’s not a playmaker. He is a better ball handler than anyone on the team, but that isn’t saying much. He’s a backup. He’s basically Josh Newkirk. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Smith is likely leaving. Al has more than proven to not be very good and will likely be our 4th best guard next season and probably still start unless he transfers. Phinisee hasn’t gotten better. He is who he is. He has peaked just like Al peaked his sophomore year. A roster like this takes a coach who can develop players and actually coach. We just don’t have that. Lol. The excuses never stop. Never heard that Creans last season to help him as OG was out. This team is fully healthy and ready to go. They just aren’t as good as you think they are and the dude making $3mil holds them back quite a bit. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Let’s say Archie magically becomes a developer of talent, does he change what offense he runs next season or is it the same? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
