  1. Our players do play like robots a lot of times rather than reading and reacting to what is happening in front of them. Sometimes you just have to raise your voice as a player and a leader. I wouldn’t blame Romeo for it. He could have been more demanding but he may not have wanted to step on anyone’s toes while here. Now that he’s in Boston, he gets paid to stand in the corner. That’s not really his decision. That’s where he’s supposed to be. And when you have Kemba, Brown and Tatum, that’s always going to be your job likely until you’ve played more and proven more. You have to pick your spots and last night he had a pretty strong dunk over a dude that was awesome. We need a better system offensively. No question about it. Something that fits these guys more. We can’t just play the pick n roll and hope for something or drive and kick for 3’s. This team needs a lot of player and ball movement to keep the defense on their heels. But if we are going to continue the same pick n roll play, the big not setting the screen needs to be moved outwards. This is an offense that probably would have worked Zellers sophomore year of Yogis Senior year. Where there would have been either a great shooter to put in the corner like Watford or in 15-16 when we had more wings, where we could have put Zeisloft in the corner. But what’s happening now isn’t working and is part to blame for Phinisee’s struggles. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. It may just be his injuries. We don’t exactly have anyone with an explosive first step like Lander does. But the guy being on the block might make our guards second guess driving any further just because there is someone there. We don’t always run that exact set but when we do, it’s usually not pretty. It’d be nice to finally see Race start. He’s earned it and we seem to play better than we do with Brunk on the floor for extended minutes. I’m just hoping some changes are made next season if Lander comes in. I want him and TJD to have an open lane for the pick and roll because that could be dominate. I also believe we will(or should) start two freshmen next season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. Negative? No. This is about us getting guys who put us into the elite of the nation. Such as getting Lander and that TJD might be that type as well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. Phinisee has been able to get by at times but it’s pointless. And why try to get by anyone when you know there is someone blocking the way? Another reason that Race should be starting over Brunk. Race isn’t a great shooter but good enough to put in the corner. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. It so aesthetically pleasing seeing a number to Indiana on the scoreboard. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Archie does purposefully pack the paint. There’s a reason that on pick and rolls, someone is always posting on the same side that the ball handler is going. Which means no driving lane. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. About to go yet another season without being ranked. Indiana under Archie has only been ranked for a total of 6 weeks. The highest ranking being #21. Last time we were Top 20 was the week of December 26th, 2016 and we were 16th. The week after we were 25th and the week after unranked. We then went 34 straight polls without being in it. Hit the 6 week streak of 17-18 and now back to 27 straight now. We’ve only been in the Top 25 6 out of 57 polls. Now I know for a fact there are IU fans who don’t care about the polls, but never being in them is a bad thing. The perception that goes along with being in them is strong. And we haven’t done crap for 3 1/2 years now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. Hypothetically, if the NCAA set a standard to get in the tourney and set it at 19 wins AND at least 1 game under .500 in conference or better, there are currently 103 teams who qualify. Now comparing that to the Bracket Matrix bracket, the teams left out because of those qualifiers are Michigan(6 seed), Marquette(7), Florida(9), Texas Tech(9), Oklahoma(9), Indiana(10), Providence(10), Montana(16). Montana’s is different though as many bracketologist will use a team at the top of their standings. Montana and Eastern Washington are both 14-4 in the Big Sky and Montana is 18-11, so one game from “qualifying.” As for the others... Michigan, Marquette, Florida, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Indiana need to win 1 more game before the end of the regular season. Providence would need to win two more games before the end of the season. I’ll revisit this next Monday to see if standards like this would actually change anything or cause more excitement in the last couple weeks. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  9. Going to look through all teams. Sort out who meets some fake standards(I’m going to use 19 wins/1 game under .500 in conference) and then compare teams getting in and who has work to do according to the Bracket Matrix bracket. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  10. Most of your elite guys who can go get a bucket are mostly leaders too. TJD has shown flashes but he needs to be more vocal and demanding. Maybe Lander has the leader part and I think he’s got the bucket getting a resting part. Archie just has to open the offense up. Literally. We need some space and Lander is going to need driving lanes. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. According to my hypothetical standards, there are 78 teams who meet the 20+ & .500 or better conference record. Then there are 3 conferences who don’t have any teams, so their tourney champs would still get in. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  12. No. Like I said, you have to have a good system and dudes who can go get their own. Archie’s offensive system is an embarrassment to basketball. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. You need at least one. But most of your champs have more. Then there are programs that can be elevated by one guy like a BYU with Jimmer or Davidson with Curry. Even this years Dayton team with Toppin. The Wichita State team that undefeated with Van Vleet, Baker and Early. You gotta have both. Look at how it’s elevated Seton Hall. Right now we just don’t have that kind of guy on the roster. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. If Penn State wins tonight, Michigan State would them move back to being a 5 seed in the B1G tourney. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  16. Well I watched it happen. With my eyeballs inside my face. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. Don’t believe in luck huh? I guess Indiana hasn’t had much in football over the years so I can see why you’d feel that way. But our front 5 wasn’t a strength. Or QB and WR’s were though. RB’s behind them. Why I believe losing Cronk wasn’t a big deal. But losing Ramsey and Sampson really sucks. And Sampson was a prized recruit for us. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. We got lucky last year a lot that we had some playmakers. Including Ramsey. But he was on the run more than he should have been. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. The Michigan State defensive line made our o-line look tiny. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. It’s not that they don’t have a system. I’m saying you have to have both if you really want to compete at the highest level. You need the system and dudes who can go score when you need it. Sometimes the system just won’t do it at a specific time. We had it with Yogi. His senior year, sometimes had to go outside the system and do it himself. 21. For real though... he’s gotta be close to hitting his head in doorways. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. But you’re right. I don’t like their system. It’s too slow. But look at how 3 very good players who could go iso when needed boosted them to a title. And Bennett loosened the leash on those 3 last season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. Correct. But there were times last season where he let those 3 do what they had to outside of that system and it worked. Because those 3 were that good. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. Well you’ve argued against having guys who are great at playing iso. Because you think of Devonte Green rather than Jimmer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. He didn’t have to. Bennett can’t do that this season but last season he gave quite a bit of control to his Big 3. He’s considered a strict coach when it comes to the system the play but smart coaches know when they have something. Bo Ryan did the same with Kaminsky and Dekker. Just like Knight handed the keys over to Zeke, which was clearly a great decision. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
