Did Archie think that without JS we couldn't be a bubble team losing to Michigan by 24 in February? If that's the case, why couldn't they just bring in another JR grad transfer that had 2 years left? If he has a toxic attitude and is constantly complaining, I get that giving him what he wants could help change his attitude, but it clearly didn't work... so make him transfer at the semester. Unless he's like physically abusive or a bully.. I guess I don't understand how one person could be so unbelievably toxic that it causes the whole team to miss the tourney. -

Could be lack of ability to communicate with their coach. If they don't have an outlet to have an open discussion, or if Archie doesn't press some of the more sensitive players to open up, players could get passive and shut down. Could also be a classic case of self sabotage by the player(s) in order to punish their coach. Just like the kid in school who gets F's to punish their teachers and parent. -

I'm just saying that I'd be upset if I had to play in a defense that wasn't working. It must be frustrating. Not removing the blame from those who play in the system. But the system doesn't seem to be working, seems that players aren't buying in. Not sure what examples can be provided on what problems JS would be causing. -

So Out of D Green, D Davis, A Durham, and Justin Smith, I would have guessed the first two were the problems. We have two open Schollys plus all four of these could not return. so 6 spots in theory. What is the program doing? How much of this is that they don't like the system and Archie? or what's been the issue for two years that the coach hasn't been able to solve. I'd be upset too if I had to play in a pack line defense that gives up almost 90 pts to Wisconsin and Michigan. -

I think what 007 is saying, and maybe i'm wrong here. Is that Fred takes the donations and uses them to fund the most needed projects first, and then scrambles to fund (at a later date) what the original donation is intended for. Not unlike a ponzi scheme. -

So from what I'm reading. The University is showcasing Fred Glass' achievements which are: Increasing revenues every year as the AD Substantial capital improvement projects More donated to the Athletic department than ever before Best women's BBall team, baseball team, etc. Student Athlete Bill of Rights being revolutionary In reality: increasing revenues every year as the AD Revenues have increase at probably the same clip/proportion as every other power 5 school under the same time frame; however, the Athletic Department is possibly completely broke and is now borrowing from all over campus... Potentially leaving no cash on hand in the event have to buy out a coach. Substantial capital improvement projects Substantial Capital improvement projects were originally ushered in by Greenspan and Glass followed his lead and has kept in line or below the competition in the building arms race in college sports. With some arguing that we're already behind again. Again possibly no cash on hand to make improvements if we need them. More donated to the Athletic department than ever before Although I appreciate the donations, I'm not sure spending $40m on luxury suites in AH was the best choice considering the athletic department's cash balance. Becoming almost completely reliant on donations to support our sports teams. Best women's BBall team, baseball team, etc. Greenspan hired Tracy Smith and I'm sure would have built a new baseball stadium. Kudo's to Fred for getting other sports in respectable positions. Student Athlete Bill of Rights being revolutionary Fred was a first mover and literally not one other school followed him. This is not a good look. So from 2009-2020 Fred Glass has done WHAT that any other AD hasn't done? Seems like he's leaving a possibly broke athletic department with its premier athletic team decimated and on the verge of collapsing into oblivion. missing 7 out of 11 possible tournaments and the last 4. I'm sure he's leaving thinking he's a hero, but could completely be a villain. a la Robert Moses when he died. This is where Inside the Hall should come in and write the reality of the athletic situation. I get not getting a press pass... but good lord we need someone to tell the fans the truth. *Maybe its possible they're borrowing money to get a cash stockpile to buyout Archie and to get their guy, but I find that hard to believe given the AD's recent track record* -

Are we still paying Crean? -
Are fans/ students going to continue showing up to the games? Not that fan support helps this team win as evidence from the PU game.... could be a ghost town and IU could potentially lose out. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I like Bozich's content. But good lord, nothing real is ever actually said about the state on Indiana basketball on that site. He controls a lot of peoples opinions with what he puts out and he could easily sway a large section of the fanbase by keeping it real. -

Is the timing of Fred leaving because he’s forcing the university to keep Archie one more year, or was that just coincidence? I worry that if we wait, we could lose out on someone like Beard if the Texas job opens up. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

If Archie’s options are take a contract at IU that states his buyout reduces in the event he misses the tourney in his first 3 years (does not drop if he makes it), or he doesn’t take the contract. I think he would still take it 10/10 times. Just my opinion tho Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

If there was a clause at the time of the hire that if he misses the tournament in his first 3 consecutive seasons, his buyout drops. Seems very reasonable to achieve. Seems pretty reasonable to agree to it if you want the job... at the time of hire people would have said that we would only miss the tourney 3 times in a row if it was a colossal failure. So if this is a colossal failure, why is the buyout $12million dollars right now/ cannot get out of it? -

So Glass is leaving his athletic department he’s ran for 10 years with potentially no cash on hand, not making the tournament for 4 years, and leaving the brand heavily diluted according to current apathy levels. How hard is it to write in a clause in Archie’s contract that if you don’t make the tournament for 3 years your buyout drops? It incentivizes Archie to win, and helps us cut bait if he fails. Did he learn nothing from the Crean contract and the mess he created with that? How do we not have any cash on hand to fire him if we need to? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

This is fantastic. So suspicions of the other team just simply clogging the lane because we don't have shooters isn't necessarily true. We don't have shooters, don't understand spacing and driving lanes, have wrong line-ups etc. Looks like all easy fixes, but this is year 3. We have a week to prepare for Purdue, with KenPom projecting a 2 pt. win. It's 1 of 4 remaining projected wins this year. 9 games left and we need to win four of them to probably get in the tourney. Gonna be a tough road ahead as we are currently ranked 12th out of 14 teams in the BIG according to Kenpom. -

His first game was a loss to Indiana State by 21, I’m not seeing that big of a change by year three. I get this takes time... but come on.. What’s the selling point to a high school kid when you tell them our main offensive strategy is to get fouled and make a bunch of free throws? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Its almost like we have PTSD with Firing coaches after the Knight debacle and now we're scared to fire anyone at the right time. Fred and the administration need to read a self help book on leaving toxic relationships.
