  1. Letting Crean go was absolutely the right move. He had burned a lot of bridges, especially in-state, indicative of him handing out scholarships like candy. The program also had multiple embarrassing moments including a number of arrests under his watch, and another incident where one player quite literally ran over another with a car. Even if you ignore that, he was given another High Major coaching job at UGA post IU. Crean’s record at Georgia was brutal. His final season before being fired, he finished 6–26 overall and 1–17 in the SEC in 2021–22. Overall he went an atrocious 15–57 in SEC play (.208). That’s hard to explain when he had NBA talent like Nic Claxton and a potential generational player in Anthony Edwards. Moving on from Crean was the right call. Where IU really missed was the hires after. Archie looked like a great up-and-coming coach at the time, but it just didn’t work. The Woodson hire, though, was a mistake from the jump. Now we’ve got DeVries. He’s acknowledged some deficiencies the past couple weeks, which is encouraging. Hopefully he learns and adjusts. I do think the freshman class looks like a solid foundation—high-major, multi-year type players.
  2. Carr is a great addition.
  3. We're going to have to cut bait with these players to form a new starting 5 (which I agree) as we have a 3 freshman class coming in. The freshman from all accounts are high major prospects, the players on our current team, frankly, are not.
  4. Size, athleticism, leadership and the desire to win is all needed.
  5. I hope not…but you were pretty spot on in the portal this off season. Simply put, we just didn’t have the talent or depth to compete.
  6. NW was so much more physical than us. Even the announcers noted it on TV. Pretty sad.
  7. My last comment because this could go on all night. One school. A school at that time who cared much more about their football program. Certainly, Duke, UNC, Louisville, UK and all the other basketball blue bloods wouldn’t. We did, and we’ve paid for it for 20 years. Again, I said 99% of schools would never self report and therefore you or I, never hear of this and we are winning championships. That is a fact. This is phone calls. Flipping phone calls. Not fake classes, not hookers, not illegally paying players, but phone calls. I and a lot of others see things differently, and it continues to get clearer as the years go by and we hear of all the other problems - including Blue Bloods - and issues they were protecting at this time. But phone calls. Sorry, I’m winning championships.
  8. It’s not wrong. We self reported lmao. It wasn’t the NCAA. It had everything to do with us. Also, no other school would’ve done what we did. We know this because most schools were doing far worse and didn’t do anything. Phone calls is such a minor rule it shortly became legal after all this.
  9. This is not hard. 99% of other programs were doing far worse…fake classes, tampering, Katina Powell and these were blue bloods. …Sampson never would’ve have gotten a show cause except WE, NOT the NCAA, WE, self reported. Any other school, you NEVER EVER hear about phone calls because it’s never reported and championships are won instead. We could’ve easily dealt with the personnel issue…he’s certainly leaned from it with the culture and kids he’s recruited at Houston. In an alternate universe, we NEVER hear about phone calls, we have 2 or 3 more banners hanging on the wall, and he’s being celebrated as a HOF coach at Indiana.
  10. That's right...and who can ever forgot Blake Hofarber hitting the buzzer beater against us in the BTT falling down...or Luke Recker's buzzer beater.
  11. Anyone that knows this program, knows the most likely scenario this week. - We beat NW or PSU and look good doing so. - There will be excitement that follows the next 24 hours about the possibility of beating Purdue and making the NCAA Tournament. - We proceed to lose to Purdue (and it probably won't be close).
  12. I think that was the plan this year. We did play lesser programs this year in K-State and Marquette. Unfortunately both teams sucked and did nothing to help our Tournament Resume.
  13. We had zero chance of winning this game...as I predicted in the score prediction thread. I haven't watched 1 second. Not worth the frustration. Maybe Ryan Carr will make a difference...maybe not...I'd like to think he will. I actually think CDD can coach...the one major concern I have is how on God's Green Earth did he think Bailey and Alexis were the only Big Men we needed. Those two are back-ups in this league...frankly Bailey, isn't even a player in this league. It seemed we all knew it but CDD. I remember all of us expressing our size concern. I was at the K-State game, court level and am 6'4". Even though we won that game, I knew we were in trouble because It seemed like I was standing eye level with most of our team, which isn't good for Big Ten.
  14. He was atrocious at UGA...like generationally bad.
  15. Crean's time was up. He lost the State and went 1-17 at UGA with a generational talent in Antman. The problem wasn't firing Crean...it was who we hired after. The guy we should never had let go was Kelvin. Forget Sweet 16s...we would've had National Titles.
  16. OsU 75 IU 58 it would be the shock of the year if we won this game
  17. I would take Bruce...but that ship has sailed. CDD is our coach and frankly we should all get behind him. We don't know if he's going to work out, but I think he has a better chance of working out than not.
  18. It’s still staggering that Bailey got a a million plus. Further proves that he was brought in to be a high major contributor. Again, it goes without saying that whoever evaluated him (I think Adams) needs to never evaluate for us again. I truly believe we were 1 good big man away from having a borderline top 25 team. Incredible miss.
  19. My opinion, is if there's anybody to keep from this year's team, it's those 3...however, they should not be counted on as major contributors. If they are, then I think we're in for another long season. We know what Dorn and Miles are. They're both upper classmen plus I don't think a light switch is going to turn on in the off season and they all of a sudden become high end Big Ten players. I think they've reached their peak in terms of development. Outside of a 4 game run, Dorn has provided very little, he quite literally disappears on the court, and Miles seems to be a person that can offer some energy, but that's about it. They should be back end rotation players that come in and play 8-10 min a game to spell the major contributors. Sisley is still up in the air. I think he can be good, but the lack of playing time (and in some cases zero minutes) is confusing.
