He played before any of us were around (though I think @Class of '66 Old Fart might have had a class or two with him), but any IU football Mount Rushmore absolutely HAS to include Pete Pihos. He was an end and fullback and was a three-time All-American. He even took time off from IU to fight in WWII. He played nine years with the Eagles, was a six-time All-Pro and two-time NFL champion. He was the first former IU player to be inducted in to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is one of two Hoosiers (along with George Taliaferro) in Canton. I recall reading that South Carolina was very close to hiring Kirby Smart after Spurrier resigned. When Georgia found out this was coming down the pike, they fired Richt just so they could make sure Smart didn't get away and could bring him back home.
