  1. To quote Vince Lombardi: "Grab. Grab. Grab. Everybody's grabbing. Nobody's tackling." Damn, we had him four yards behind the LOS.
  2. The only chance is a big punt return, and Michigan will not give us that opportunity. Does anybody see us moving the ball 60 or so yards in less than a minute?
  3. Regardless of the call, he HAS to be aware of where he is. And I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I think the refs got it right. If he had just positioned himself correctly, we'd have the ball.
  4. And the same thing happened at IU -- for the third time now. It happened with Mike Davis and with Bill Lynch and now with Tom Allen. Davis and Lynch took over at a less-than-ideal time, had a decent run and got the full-time gig, when the smart decision is to say, "Look, we appreciate what you've done, but we're gonna go in a different direction." It was similar with Allen. He was supposedly getting sniffs from good football schools who wanted him as DC. So when Fred decided it was time for Wilson to go, he picked Allen -- because he was afraid of losing him. When the truth is that he 's really not ready to be a Power 5 head coach. A DC? Yes. Head coach? No.
  5. Or maybe try rolling him out? On every pass play, he just drops into the pocket.
  6. No imagination in this play calling. I feel like I'm seeing the same plays over and over again with the same result -- they're not working.
  7. Three good stops. Now, we need to sustain a drive -- or the D is gonna run out of gas.
  8. Return that punt! Nobody within 10 yards. Don't settle for a fair catch.
  9. I'll take it, but I didn't think the hit on Ramsey was anything egregious.
  10. He clearly slides, but not until after Scales moved in for the hit. It was a very late slide.
  11. Yep. When we were pretty good (late '80s, early '90s), it all started by signing two players that pretty much any team in the country would've been happy to have -- Dave Schnell and Anthony Thompson. For the past umpteen years, it seems we're recruiting against good mid-majors and bad Power 5s. I can't think of the last time we signed a really elite football player.
  12. And you can't be stupid against Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. You can be stupid against FCS teams and get away with it. But not if you wanna compete in a Power 5 conference.
  13. Took all of three plays before a flag. Gotta play a clean game or won't have much of a chance.
  14. NCAA updated its logo to reflect its new power structure.
  15. And to think: We got in trouble because of text messages. TEXT MESSAGES! But apparently, it's OK to create fake classes and give A's and B's to athletes who never went to class, never took a test and never wrote a paper. Well-done, NCAA.
  16. Quote from Roy Williams: Gee golly willikers. I told y'all, we weren't dadgum guilty. When we recruit the dickens out of a player, we tell them: You best get your flippin' hind end in class -- even if you don't have to do any goldarn school work. Shucks, this a friggin' great day to be a Tar Heel!
  17. SI's latest bowl projections have us playing Vandy in the Music City Bowl. Winner gets Garland? (Wouldn't be crazy about playing Vandy in Nashville, though). https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/10/10/bowl-projections-matchups-predictions-schedule-playoff
  18. Really, really, really wanna pick the Hoosiers. But I just don't see it. I definitely won't mind being wrong, however. Michigan 24, Indiana 20
  19. He totally lollygagged it after that ball. If he runs hard after it, he catches it -- easily. I don't understand what the hell he was thinking and/or doing!
  20. I'll say IU, Vandy and Kansas. I'm thinking between now and November, the NCAA finally will rule on UNC. That might push them out. Then again, it's the NCAA -- so a teeny-weeny slap on the wrist is entirely possible, too.
  21. Do you not know how to read? Go back and look at what I wrote. I said I have a whole new appreciation for what Joe Tiller did at Purdue. He came in and won right away, taking a bunch of low-star players he didn't recruit and winning nine games. Those same players won five games the previous two years combined. I'm sure people said it would take a long time to turn Purdue around -- Tiller didn't need a long time, or any time for that matter. We have not had a coach ever come in and have a season like that in his first year. Will Tom Allen? I hope so, but I can't imagine we will have nine wins by season's end. If we do, great. I just don't see it happening.
  22. As much as I hate to admit it, what happened Saturday -- and what has happened to IU football pretty much ever since the Bill Mallory years -- gave me a whole new appreciation for the late Joe Tiller. In his very first year with the Toiletmakers, after they were godawful for several years, they went 9-3. Essentially, he took a bunch of crappy players and found a way to win with them. And after that, he just kept on winning. In the five years before he arrived, they won 4, 1, 5, 4 and 3 games. Nothing against Tom Allen, but why can't we get a coach like that? Guess if they grew on trees, everybody would have them, eh? We get a new coach, wait for him to turn it around and when he doesn't, we start all over again. Maybe Allen will be a difference maker, but I'm not holding my breath.
  23. First of all, I don't believe for one second that he had zero to do with it or that he didn't know about it. Second of all, that doesn't even matter. There's been enough s--t go down in his program over the past few years that any coach would HAVE to expect to be terminated after the latest revelations -- even if he didn't know. But he did know -- he's the one who said "If one of my players has a beer in Louisville, I know about it." Jeezus, just stop lying.
