yep, he is so late to the "current" college game as well as recruiting, etc. He has a lot of work to do to turn this ship around and seems to have found a few good pieces as well as retaining important and impactful players.

.....in addition, I would also add that parents, friends and social media all play a part in adding to that thinking/mentality.

.....see,....this is the kind of stuff that drives me nuts. Yes, 5 stars, 4 stars, good stats, etc., are all great to know about and have coming in. What really matters is how they come in, work hard, improve, play hard and make a positive impact to the team. I guess the point I'm getting at is a teams like Purdue, Nebraska and others have flown under the radar with players, but have been able to prospers with "on paper - weak classes". Yes, both have good coaches to help develop those players as well as utilize them to their best abilities. This is where CMW is behind when it comes to NCAA coaching. I guess we will see what happens this year and how we can hopefully show a big improvement from last year to this year. This is where coaching and developing players really need to come to fruition. JMO

There’s absolutely NOTHING more valuable than when a team smiles, laughs and genuinely loves being around each other, on and off the court or field.

Also agree,….. I almost wish he was 10-20 years younger at this point, had descent college coaching experience under his belt prior to IU, then this could/might or maybe be a well written story. JMO It’s no secret that he has owed most everything to Coach Knight and what he did for him as a player and a man. Unfortunately his approach is a bit outdated and crass. I have no doubt that Coach Woodson wants the world for IU Basketball and he knows he’s late to the college game. IMO, He’s most likely living/practicing the old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”, when it comes to constructing a roster with the NIL. He may be thinking he’s a little too old and doesn’t have the energy to get out on the rigorous recruiting trail, like seasoned NCAA coaches do. I know this screams, “then why are you gambling with time and IU’s money?” Finally, I honestly think he wants this one last shot to bring prominence and national notoriety to IU before he retires. Like it or not, If it wasn’t for NIL, Coach Woodson would most likely already be fired. JMHO
