  1. This makes sense. He may already have an idea as to what Watford is looking for or not looking for and this may push AM to go after other kids harder. He's met with TW so if he thought we had a really good chance there is not doubt he would put the full court press on for this kid.
  2. Apparently his son has a rare blood disease and they travel to Houston regularly for treatment. A&M being close makes sense as to why it would be a preferable destination.
  3. It can't be stated enough that if we want to be an improved team next season, we either need Moore to step or Forrester to come in and provide some minutes right away. We have no one that can defend the post against a decent big when Davis is on the bench.
  4. Don't see it unless he wants to go to Europe. Needs to improve FT's and show consistentcy throughout an entire game. He also has trouble staying on the floor because of fouls and sometimes still conditioning.
  5. Dobbs was a great college QB so whether he is a hall of famer or not isn't a measure of his success or talent in college so I don't get that arguement. I can only go by what I saw this year and it was far and away unimpressive. I get the line wasn't as good as years past. Years past it was actually really really good. This year it slipped but it wasn't anywhere near awful and neither was the QB play. To me, you seem to make this the lame excuse for Debord and why the playcalling was the way it was. That can only go so far. There are plenty of times the playcalling lacked any sort of creativity and was overly predictable. At times, it was ultra conservative and it cost the team big time. He needs to really really improve because he is never going to have the talent he had at Tennessee.
  6. Pretty hard to screw things up when you have Alvin Kamara and Josh Dobbs at your disposal. Tennessee didn't have the best coach obviously but they had lots of talent on both sides of the ball.
  7. Yeah I was more making a point that there is a small chance a guy is wanting to go to Vandy b/c it's a good academic school. That may be a secondary factor but i doubt it's a primary one and never has been for the top players in college bball. The 5 stars that go to non-basketball schools more times than not have some sort of connection with the staff/AAU program or something shady is going on. Not the case every time but the majority seem to be linked in that way.
  8. I mean yes it's pretty obvious why he was on staff at Washington as the top assistant and why he is still the top assistant at Mizzou. I don't consider it shady though. There is nothing under the table or illegal which is where I draw the line. Harbaugh just hired a top QB's father at Michigan. KU did the same thing with Chalmers dad. Memphis hired the Lawson twins dad. SMU just hired a recruits dad and I am sure the list goes on. As you pointed out, there are plenty of connections to Romar and to Mizzou with the Porters over the last 5-10 years. I don't see anything wrong here though with what Cuonzo did. The real problems stem from the under the table stuff which seems to be rampant in college bball and has me very suspicious of programs like ASU, Vandy, Auburn, Bama, Miami, USC etc. But that's just my opinion.
  9. The Porter thing wasn't shady. His dad was a coach on the Mizzou womens basketball team and then was an assistant at Washington before Romar got fired. Porter's family all grew up at Mizzou. It was a very smart play by Cuonzo and if he didn't do it there were many coaches lining up to hire the Porter dad. This has been done many times before and is not anywhere near as shady as hiring a guy like Kenny Johnson
  10. Not saying it's not possible but when has a good school mattered to a one and done player? It just seems to be on the rare side of things.
  11. I'll give them Garland since he was local. But Shittu was a little puzzling. If they get RL though I really think it's a case where something is going on. I just can't see how Vandy would be that attractive to a one and done type player with that lack of fanbase and atmosphere. I just don't buy the fact that he would choose Vandy over the blue bloods b/c he wants to play that badlly with DG.
  12. Did this really deserve an article? Still not buying he goes there. So glad they have started off poorly. https://247sports.com/college/vanderbilt/Bolt/Vanderbilt-trending-in-Crystal-Ball-for-Romeo-Langford-111244567
  13. Doubt it. Where is he going to go? He's not a hot commodity. He fit Mizzou b/c he is from St Louis. He never really wanted to be at Cal and Tenn ran him off.
  14. Yeah an 11 seems just about right. Wouldn't want to play them. The big guy definitely had NBA potential.
  15. Arlington is the type of team that will be a good upset pick in the tourney! All juniors and seniors.
  16. Yeah well unfortunately that's the landscape of college athletics and it happens all over the place. Kansas brought on Chalmers father back in the day as did Calipari with Dejuan Wagners dad. Memphis brought on the Lawson twins dad. SMU just brought on a top recruits father. Harbaugh brought in a 2019 QB recruits father. Selling their souls seems a little dramatic imo. You know how many coaches wanted Porter Sr. The answer is a LOT. Washington originally got him. A&M really wanted him and apparently there's many more. To me, it's worse hiring a shady assistant coach like a Kenny Johnson who you know is doing something probably against the rules.
  17. Not sure how he still has a chance at being a top 3 pick.... If I were an NBA exec I would be very cautious especially with the medical prognosis that at best 90% of his former ability and subject to re-injury and residual problems ongoing. That seems like a lot of risk vs reward? I know he was supposed to be good, and he is young so could heal up fine but if I am an exec I want him to show me by playing 1 more season in college. Scouts will look at potential and he had comparisons to Kevin Durant coming out of high school. Philadelphia took Embid with lots of injury concerns. My guess is if Porter gets cleared someone will surely think he is worth a top 5 pick. I doubt he will want to go back to school b/c if he gets injured again then he's now seen as injury prone and the stock definitely drops.
  18. Huge blow to Mizzou and sucks for Porter Jr and for college basketball. He is a dynamic, fun player to watch. Hope he comes back the same. He should still be a top 3 pick in the NBA draft if all goes well so I doubt we see him playing in college again.
  19. They are definitely saving him for Duke. i would be surprised if he comes back before that if he is not absolutely 100%.
  20. Best lineup: Johnson, Durham, Green, Morgan and Davis with Smith as the 6th man.
  21. Blueitt, Kyle Guy...I bet there is an all-star team you could put on the floor right now. And all we have is Collin. In Archie we trust!
  22. Man Blueitt is smooth. I can't believe we couldn't get him to IU......Oh wait yeah we had Crean
  23. Man really hope we can keep him!!! One of our recruits I am most excited about.
