It's on the AD. Look what Minnesota, Maryland and Rutgers are did recently. They went out and hired coaches with good resumes and they are all showing improvement already. Is it too early to really judge them all and TA? Of course. But they at least went out and made a commitment. This program chose the cheaper/easy option.

Exactly how I feel and I am sure many others. Don't get me wrong I love us being considered competitive. We've come a long way but it doesn't mean we can't be frustrated with being so close so many times and being unable to take the next step forward. There is enough talent to win some of these big games. If they don't win today, that breakthrough slogan should probably go into hibernation for a while.

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It's pretty easy to see what's happening. Jerry Meyer picks IU and the sheep on 247 switch their picks to IU. Slater comes out with Vandy and more sheep switch to Vandy. Therefore, the CB %'s don't really matter. Interesting tidbit i picked up is that Slater was correct on his picks most often usually a day or two before the recruit actually announces. I didn't check Jerry's but I am sure it is similar. That's very telling especially with all the talk out there that DG is truly on fence and that it may be almost another two weeks before he decides. A lot can happen between now and then. -

People asking Jerry if he is going to switch his pick. Hasn't replied but did say the pick was 'significant' to Vandy since it is Slater. Pretty clear Jerry doesn't know. -

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't see what purpose that serves for any of the schools involved especially us. He has taken all of his visits and had quite a few conversations with each staff/coach. All of the typical factors for delaying are off the table....waiting for additional reccruiting dominoes to fall (they will have fallen), hoping for another offer (who else is out there?), waiting to see if the coach makes it through the season (not the case with any schools he is considering) etc. -

I don't think we know what it means. That's just looking at it from an 'outsider' view b/c we don't know much about what is being told or sold to RL and DG. Romeo is probably going to be in college one year so do you think he is making sure he gets the best institution possible for that one season? Possible but seems kind of silly. -

Check with Justin Albers on that one. He was covering Billy D's flight to Bloomington from takeoff to touch down. -

Crean stopped recruiting Romeo b/c he got the door shut on him by AAU programs/high school coaches from Indiana. They were all tired of his BS. -

Their experience on the court with that atmosphere, fanbase, national audience and tv will take a big hit. Also, not sure they would be second in the SEC. The conference is getting better with the really strong classes they had this year. Alabama and Mizzou both had monster classes. And you have to like what Mike White is doing at Florida. -

If anyone is upset then they have completely unrealistic expectations and a very short memory. All you have to do is go back to March. Romeo was for sure not coming here. Garland not as sure but you can only think Archie improved the odds. What he has been able to do in so little time is amazing. Also, Crean either didn't want or hadn't made much progress on Watford, Brooks, TJD. We are pretty much favorities or close to it for all three. -

It's encouraging but the bottom line is no one truly knows. Recruits change their minds all the time. It's possible these guys have gone back and forth a bunch as well. -

I don't think UNC or KU would waste their time if they think they have no shot. They are in on too many 5* guys just to waste their time. Vandy I agree with. It can only help the program to show they are getting close to landing the big fish. My guess is Romeo still is telling all of them they have a shot and as long as they hear that they believe there is one. -

Thanks for the correction. I thought the 14th was the final day. Either way, he still has a full two weeks left so even if he comes out and announces a signing date he can wait at least another week. -
Two things they must be considering here. One - Clemson lost to Syracuse without their QB for the most part. Two - ACC is pretty stacked from top to bottom. There are hardly any truly horrible teams like the other conferences. They also beat #16 Auburn and #13 Va Tech. Think it comes down to the strength of schedule and quality wins.

My guess is Garland will make an announcement beforehand stating the day he will be signing. This seems to be what a lot of the top recruits do to build up the excitement and hype. I doubt he just comes out and says who he is choosing like Hunter, Anderson, Phinesse. All we know is it will be before Nov 15 so he doesn't need to say anything for at least another week to ten days if he doesn't want to.
