There maybe some folks who defend Debord but can anyone in their right minds defend the special teams coach? Whoever the hell it is....this has been an achilles heel for us all year.

Special teams is usually the ultimate barometer of coaching....not a good sign folks. this has been an issue all yr.

I hate to say it but I think so too. Time will tell. Wilson at least had the program going in the right direction with finally hiring a competent DC in Allen. He had good coordinators all around with Deland at RB etc. I like Allen. He's a likeable guy but I am more skeptical than I was at the beginning of the year.

I just can't understand how we didn't do our due diligence. Made the emotional, popular local hire versus weighing all options.

I think Newman wanted to be a one and done as well. I'm expecting him to have a big year. Forgot KU also has the Lawson brothers next year. They are sitting out with Moore this year. Know they don't play the same position as Romeo but there will be a lot of guys wanting the ball for KU. They came off as very selfish to me at Memphis. Like you said lots of moving parts here with three or four recruits with multiple blue bloods involved. I still like our chances with Romeo but Self is dangerous. This certainly is not a sure thing for us.

Minutes won't be a problem for Romeo if he goes there unless he goes with Grimes. Can't see both going with more minutes available at IU and probably even UK. Newman, Moore and Dotson are more PG/CG's. Vick is a SG with limited offense. Garrett is a freshman so too early to tell how good he is. He was ranked around #50 out of high school. Romeo would easily be the best SG on that team. I wouldn't be surprised if Newman leaves too.

However, just like at IU he will be a celebrity on campus. Self has plenty he can sell based on how many players he has put in the pros. His teams are always top 10 and Allen Fieldhouse is an amazing atmosphere. Lots of similarities I'm just glad there is no late night or bball game this weekend.

I would take us all the way on that pointspread. Even if Debord goes ultra conservative I can see our defense creating multiple TO's against a third string QB.

I would think they would put the heat on Romeo so possibly, yes. Their recruiting class looks really good for next year but they do not have a SG committed. They will lose a few pretty good guards next year (Graham, Svi) so there certainly could be minutes available from right off the bat.

This article is about Grimes not Romeo. I agree on Romeo.

I'm just referencing the article in the KU Star about Grimes that was written a few days back. Hopefully, you are referring to the people that wrote it b/c I am just sharing what's out there. Haven't followed his recruitment much since i don't really care too much about KU.

Also, Grimes isn't signing until the Spring - at least according to this article. There's a blurb about Romeo as well as Hurt. Kansas had their version already so this is just an OV. They had Zion Williamson there for the event as well as Grimes I believe. Obviously no Romeo or Brooks.

Except for Crean getting past the Sweet 16 at IU....that was never going to happen.

Guys Archie either got or is looking good with - Damezi, Phinesee, Race, Hunter, Garland, Romeo, Brooks, Watford, Hurt, Davis - And this is within 7 months. Did either Crean or Mike Davis ever show this kind of recruiting prowess? Not even close.
