  1. I've just about given up on Green and I was a defender of his earlier this year. The one handed alley up pass against Purdue was my final straw. Such an easy pass to grab with two hands and lay it in. He just can't make the easy play always trying to showboat. Even when he does make a great play it's almost never within the constraints of the offense. He's clearly talented but I just don't think he will ever get to his full potential since we have witnessed the same mistakes for 3 years. He can go. Smith is so frustrating because he clearly has the ability to be a difference maker on both ends of the court. If this guy had a motor going all the time he could be a double double machine. But he takes a lot of plays off and seems to be unhappy when the ball doesn't find him enough. That could consistently be a problem here because I don't see him as ever being THE GUY. If he could clean up his attitude and get pops out of his ear I think he could be a nice asset the next two years. But I have doubts that will happen.
  2. We won't get anyone worth a damn if we can Archie after year 2. That type of stuff doesn't fly with coaches. It would be an awful look. Archie is getting at least 4 years like it or not. Glass on the other hand may need a 6 win football season to save his job.
  3. I share the same worry. You talk about building a program and culture and that starts with getting the right recruits. We might have many more holes next season and actually take a further step back even with TJD and Franklin coming in because we may have to rip and replace pretty much everything above them. It could be ugly.
  4. My question back to you is who the heck do we bring in if we lose out on Brooks? Hardly seems like anything is out there that we've been putting in work for. We put a lot of eggs in the Brooks basket. Seems like we are just now trying to jump back into the frey for some other '19 recruits.
  5. This looks to be the latest on the Beverly recruitment. From Wednesday, but didn't see it posted in this thread. https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-leftovers-reclassification-harlond-beverly-uconn "Beverly will likely not commit until taking multiple official visits. Where he lands is up for debate as Baylor and Xavier still might have the edge, but his upcoming visits could change things prior to his signing this spring."
  6. I disagree. It doesn't take a lot to at least play with heart and effort, whether its all of the guys you recruited or not. Even some of his own recruits like Romeo look completely defeated. Thats on the coach.
  7. I honestly dont know what the folks who have come to Archie's rescue the last few weeks can say after this. Zero heart, zero caring, minimal effort. It's indefensible at this point and it's very worrisome when it comes to the future of IU bball. If you aren't worried, you must be drinking champagne with Fred Glass and must have convinced yourself this is a total "rebuild".
  8. I'm glad Davis is healthy and starting over Smith. Probably should have happened a game or two ago.
  9. It was Jarrad Odle https://twitter.com/JarradOdle "I watched the press conference tonight for the first time ever. The comments rolling in were amazing. Some people think it’s so easy to right the ship. No, you can’t just sub everyone out. Players on the bench are there for a reason. Trust me, I was one for a long time."
  10. I'm really surprised he hasn't been able to help at all. I thought even if his defense wasn't there he could give us some shooting on offense. Unfortunately, he just looks all out of place every time he gets into the game. Maybe things slow down for him in year two. With Beverly, I'm just happy we are recruiting someone else outside of Brooks. Getting both would be amazing. However, If Brooks were to fall through, I hardly see any other options out there unless we were to go JUCO/grad transfer route. It's kind of scary.
  11. The way we are playing now we would be losing to lots of teams in the Big 12 and SEC.
  12. This is a very tough pill to swallow. In today's landscape, patience is often dismissed very early on. If you look at many of the successful coaches it often takes a while to build the program. Indiana fans have already had to endure a lot of patience with the Crean years. Just to play devils advocate let's look at a few coaches that have inherited a less than talented roster and have already been able to turn things around quite fast. Will Wade - LSU Year 1 -18-15 Year 2 - 20-4 Eric Musselman - Nevada Year 1 - 24-14 Year 2 - 28-7 Year 3 - 19-1 Rick Barnes - Tennessee Year 1 - 15-19 Year 2 - 16-16 Year 3 - 26-9 Chris Beard - Texas Tech Year 1 - 18-14 Year 2 - 27-10 Year 3 - 19-5 It's not always apples to apples as far as resources available to turn the program around faster. Archie seems to have been really restricted with the APR hit and guys transferring. I also know there are examples like Tony Bennett and John Beilein that prove that Archie needs at least a few more years before we can really judge. However, the guys above were all dealt a hand that wasn't that great and each turned it around within 3 years so it is possible to do. All of those destinations are less attractive than IU.
  13. You do realize everyone said the same thing about Jay Wright and Nova and Mark Few and Gonzaga until a few years ago?
  14. I honestly don't know who the X's and O's guy is. Feel like a lot of times you can tell in the huddle but it usually seems like Archie leads it if im not mistaken. Ostrom has done a really good job recruiting. Schilling has already made headway in Indiana. Has Flint recruited anybody or was he just brought in to be the mentor/veteran guy that has 20+ years of experience and thats about it.
  15. Pretty amazing that this kid was getting redshirted this year until Azubuike went down with the hand injury. He was the lowest rated recruit behind McD All Americans Grimes, Dotson, and Mccormick and might be the best freshman on the team and the second best player on the team behind Lawson. It's just next man up for KU.
  16. Right! We've been clamoring for some emotion, some accountability, some passion within this team. I applaud whoever stepped up and started calling guys out.
  17. He swung and missed on so many in-state recruits that I would have had little confidence he could pull it off to begin with.
  18. Green was in the post game presser. I'm really doubting Archie would send him out if he was involved in a scuffle with emotions running high. I would say Juwan, Smith and Romeo. Romeo and Smith clearly don't like each other and Morgan is trying to be the leader at this point so him stepping in makes a lot of sense.
  19. And here it is folks....Tom Crean lands the #1 player in the country for 2019. His class is now #12 overall. 9 years at IU and he couldn't sniff the #1 recruit ever.
  20. Glass also doesn't even know what a really good basketball coach even looks like. Chris Mack was right down the road at Xavier and look at what he is doing with Lville this year.
  21. That's the thing. We have more talent than we show but we have too many guys that just want to go through the motions. Need more Al Durham's. Very few guys willing to bust their butts on every play.
  22. I've seen tension between him and Romeo a few times this year. Makes me think not only is the leadership lacking but there is some divide within the team. Not trying to start rumors but it would explain the lack of cohesion we see so often with this team.
  23. Did anyone else think Justin Smith looked like he couldn't have cared less today? I saw him a few times look like he was trying to give as little effort as possible. I'm sure there were a few more guys too. Very disturbing.
  24. One self reported and the other lied their collective a%%es off. Basically, the message here for schools is just to deny, deny, deny
  25. Man I thought the opposite. Winning at Mich St to me was exactly the momentum this team needed for a new start especially doing it without JMo for the most part. And we got to come home to AH and play a good but not great Iowa team. Props to them for showing up. Maybe my words weren't right with Green. I don't want him to have the ball a lot or for us to actually rely on him. However, off the bench he is the only guy capable of hitting a few triples. For a team devoid of scoring, it's a big plus if we can get a few baskets from him. When he sunk a few at MSU I felt like it energized the other guys and they kind of played off of each other. The only guy I trust off the bench is Davis but that's not going to be enough most nights. We need another guy to step up or two.
