Why not? I mean I'm sure a school like Penn St or Rutgers would love to have him. Ultimately though I see him ending up in a conference like the American or Mountain West. He did do well at New Mexico. It's very much like Crean in the fact that I believe he is good enough to keep a job a while if it is not a pressure cooker.

I really hope this one is an external hire since we just went internal for d-coordinator. If you are afraid to lose someone on staff then give them a raise. I do like Matt Canada. Major Applewhite is also available.

IU Football 2019 Recruiting Class
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I will say as negative as I feel like I have been with the coaching, I never thought in a million years that Allen would bring in a top 35-40 recruiting class with 4 of the top 6 guys from Indiana. Just didn't see that happening in general at IU. He and his staff clearly have worked their butts off to convince kids to wear the crimson and cream even without the accoldates of being ranked/going to bowl games etc. Hopefully, this is the start of that. -
IU Football 2019 Recruiting Class

Yep, the talent has been elevated. Same needs to happen for the coaching. We should have been better than 5 wins this year. Coaching needs to improve or else some shakeups on the staff need to be made. -
IU Football 2019 Recruiting Class

I'm sure this one had to do with immediate PT. Louisville is a total mess right now. -
(2019) LB Cameron Williams to IU

This would be icing on the cake for a great class. Let's get this guy. Would love to have David Bell too but it may be too little too late there. -

Thought I saw something that Dorian Jones might be considering Louisville. He took a visit after he visited here in December. That is one to watch this morning as well. -
IU Football 2019 Recruiting Class

is the stud QB Jack Tuttle? Just commited after transferring from Utah. 4 star elite 11 kid out of high school for 2017. Looks like a huge get!!! https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2018/12/17/four-star-qb-jack-tuttle-picks-iu-football-after-utah-transfer/2336246002/ -
(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
TXHoosierDaddy replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
My guess would be more PT. I'm sure he could get that at a school like Colorado or Col St. if he wants to be closer to home. He's already worked so hard to get back from the injury can't see him hanging it up. -
Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yep he has had a few wide open looks and just passed it up. It's going to kill us when Morgan isn't going off like this. I really wish we had a Zeisloft on this team. I guess it is Fizner but he disappears. -
Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15

Seems like a lot of times we play 3 on 5 on offense since at least two guys are non threats to score. It doesn't matter who coaches Butler they seem to always play harder than their opponent. So disappointing. -

I can't stand watching Smith. Seems to take plays off, doesn't have good hands, just kind of coasts on the court, can't finish.... -
Penn looks good. Definitely a team to watch as a 13/14 seed come tourney time.

I saw an article today that Debord was paid as the #126 coordinator in the country. Rutgers, Minnesota and Illinois all have a higher paid assistant. You can't have nice things if you aren't willing to pay for it. People can criticize Allen all you want for not making a change but this clearly limits him big time. McRobbie and Glass need to wake up. Actually it will never happen with McRobbie so better to wait until he is gone.

Weber had his best years with Self's players. I don't think Illinois has even come close to the recruiting classes Self put together of Dee Brown, Deron Williams, Luther Head, Roger Powell, James Augustine. Those teams had some talented, tough players. Someone has be able to to recruit Chicago to be successful there.

I don't see many BIG jobs opening up. Pitino at Minnesota i think would be the most likely opening. Nebraska and Iowa are having good years so far but that needs to continue. Underwood is only in year 2. Regardless, he will get another year. Their schedule has been brutal so far but the 2-6 record is disappointing and they do have some talent on that roster.

I don't see Turgeon, Shaka or the USC coach losing their jobs this year. The USC coach has the #1 recruiting class in 2019. UCLA makes a lot of sense.

(2019) WR David Bell to Purdue
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
You're exactly right. One look at Purdue's offense compared to ours and its easy to see where a skilled playmaker would want to go. It's tough because we had a chance if we had a Sudfeld behind center and a competent coordinator but neither exists. This the the kind of recruit that wouldn't consider us just a few years back, however, the inability to build on our momentum this year sealed the fate with this one. -
So some concerns I’m having...

The better time to ask this question will be when both teams get into BIG play and we see where we stack up. We absolutely should finish higher than them given the roster. -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's a big loss now after seeing how little Smith has improved on last year. -

Correct. Plenty of season left and hopefully most can realize that the roster was a bit more talented for one team in year one. -
Our expectations are unfortunately very low as a program - Until McRobbie goes I think football will be in the cellar. I hate to say it but other than improving the stadium we have shown nothing in the way of commitment to winning as a university. The only silver lining is Allen is recruiting well. However, another season of not bowling likely will have a negative effect towards that. 2019 is SO CRUCIAL. If we don't hire some competent coordinators there is no way I see us getting to 6 wins. We failed miserably in the 2nd half of games this year and we know the second half is all about adjustments. The teams aren't getting any easier with our schedule set up the way it is. Anyone opposed to bringing back Matt Canada as an OC? I have to think Maryland hires a new HC and rids itself of everyone associated with the Durkin era. Not sure on DC front but a couple staffs will be looking for new homes after this season.

There is no pining for another coach at least from me (others already with the knee jerk reaction) but the comparison to at least Holtmann will always be there. Same thing goes for QB's drafted right behind each other. The connection will always be made whether it is fair or not. That's all.
