  1. Amir Coffey getting it done with 15 of their 29. So I guess it's Coffey 15, Wiscy 14. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. Wisconsin down at the half to Minnesota, 29-14. Yes, 14 at half. At home. Woof. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3. Doesn't bother me. Try and talk him out of it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. If this tells you anything, they're quitting at record pace in this state. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. For the love of Pete, yes. There was a local high school whose previous HC would let the team run an offense for the first 3 minutes of a quarter, then when the clock hit the 5 minute mark he would have them run a 3 guard weave up top until they got a wide open look, lost the ball, or the opposition just gave up and let them hold the ball. It was incredibly annoying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Keion Brooks Jr. plays basketball very well. I hope he chooses to basketball very well as an Indiana Hoosier. Back on track. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  7. Well I definitely missed that tidbit somewhere along the line! Thanks. Usps always delivers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  10. CG/Westview now. Valpo/WC to follow. Consolation game just after 6 with championship to follow. A nice homecoming opportunity for CG coach Hahn being a former New Castle Trojan. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. TJD in action today at the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle at the Fieldhouse. 4 team tournament with Westview, Valparaiso, and Warren Central rounding out the field. Can't make the 11am game due to the in-law family Christmas (AKA nephews/sons making me regret home ownership), but hopefully can make the evening games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  12. Never was a big Derrick Rose fan but also couldn't deny his talent. Watching him come back from onevinjury only to suffer another over the years has inspired me to pull for him, and it's good to see him getting his confidence back. I thought this picture was awesome. Hope he continues on to a fulfilling career. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. The difference between pro and college athletes in handling concussions is a university being responsible for the health and safety of someone's kid. You wanna know the fastest way to get your butt handed to you via lawsuit? Screw up with someone's kid, particularly their health. Doesn't matter that these guys are over 18. They're in school. They're young with their whole lives in front of them, regardless if they're headed the pro route afterward. And for the "concussions aren't that dangerous" crowd: We're really just now noticing the distant effects of them, only because we have more access to former athletes as they are. Look at guys who've repeatedly taken a lot of contact above the shoulders and see how you feel about their actual age vs how they look, act, and (subjectively) feel. Have a good chunk of them seemed to develop a mismatch there? In my observations...yes. Note I did not use the term "majority" or any of its synonymous brethren. But what I am saying is that as we're more exposed to former contact athletes in their golden years, it's going to be evident they took a lot of shots to the attic. It's ok to err on the side of caution with young athletes. Actually, it's right. Tell me this guy doesn't have a concussion in the most severe sense: Yes, this is a more extreme example. But he's 41. And he didn't just take a punch and end up comatose the next minute. He was awake. Walking. He took a lot of hits, not to mention how total many over the course of his career. Multiple concussions? You bet. Again, an extreme example. But who wants to put a player at risk for even a fraction of this outcome? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Thanks! The good thing is defense has improved QUICKLY in less than 2 years. The offense will get there. We must remember Archie is just now on his first recruiting class; personally this group just doesn't gel offensively. I expect that to change through the season, but more so as the roster becomes entirely CAM recruits. Would you care to look up those numbers for us under FCTC? Just curious. I would do it but it's 0600 and the munchkins are.... *tired dad sigh* ....awake and going full bore. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  17. Any anticoagulant, really. And Aloha is correct, heparin is inpatient use most of the time. Either way they don't mix well with big boy sports. I hope they can put him on any of the newer ones. I've never been on it, but I've had to deal with folks' complications from Coumadin and that medication can be an s.o.b. more times than not. I'm sure Aloha can attest to that. 21. Yep. They'd be completely unprovoked. Treatment can be as little as 3 months but yeah, typically longer. It was mentioned at the beginning of his struggles it was a familial condition so it could very well be a life long coagulopathy. But again, I speculate. It's curious that they are still keeping a high degree of hush-hush about this. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. If indeed that was the issue and Jerome is being anticoagulated he could easily be out for the season purely because of the amount of time his docs feel he needs to be on that med. They won't clear him to play while he's taking it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  23. A little off the current topic of overrated Nova, but regarding another (previously) overrated team in Purdoo.... A buddy of mine at work mentioned today he has some friends who know Matt Painter and he let them come and watch practice recently. They told him it's basically Carsen Edwards and then everyone else. He does what he wants (or doesn't want) to do. One example he gave was when Painter made the team run for something he wasn't happy with, but Edwards just went over to the side to shoot while the rest of the team ran. There was no obvious reason for him to be excluded. They told him Edwards did several things separate from the team during practice that day. Now that example could just be a flash in the pan, but that's pretty much the way they look in games. 1) Carsen 2) Everyone else. I wonder if there's some friction up in WL. 24. Typical protocols include brain rest and cessation of physical activity until symptoms are at that very least mild and not easily reproducible, but ideally resolved. This means extra rest/sleep, limited reading and screen time, low lights, etc until daily life is well-tolerated. Then you start a cautious and stepwise approach to the return to physical activity, monitoring symptoms along the way. Should symptoms be easily triggered or worsen, the athlete reduces the level of exertion until tolerated, ideally until they are asymptomatic, before increasing activity again. There's a good chance he'll be out of shape when he's finally cleared, depending when they want to grant it. They could clear him for re-conditioning and use that for further confirmation before granting the clearance for full return to play, which would be the safest course and essentially what I described above. In that case he could be in decent shape whenever he sees the floor again. The perceived severity of the hit doesn't always coincide with severity or duration of symptoms, but it gives a general idea of what the player and training/medical staff could be dealing with. Appropriate evaluatuon and honesty of the athlete are key during return to play. Based on the lengthy return it's safe to say our staff is handling this correctly. Best wishes to Race for a full recovery and safe return! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
