(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State
ap2345 replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Ethan Bates is the guard but they are very limited because he’s the only guard on varsity and his cousin is there only real guard on JV. So they lack guard depth. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State

This didn’t surprise me since Frankton is so limited offensively this year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Did Blackford start turning the ball over or shoot themselves out of it because they kept jacking up shots? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
There would be zero way to police that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

He does. I believe he’s related to a former football player. I think maybe Trent Green. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
1 on 1 Player Meetings and Rotation Change
ap2345 replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There are some games that Davis has to play the backup 5 spot. Against the likes of Wesson, Cockburn, Garza, Oturu, and Teske his size is a much better matchup than TJD or Race when Brunk is out. -
Max Christie was at Mackey yesterday for Purdue's beat down of Michigan State. Caleb Furst was also in attendance.

So apparently after the Northwestern win the coaches had meetings with several players 1 on 1. A couple of players basically got told it's my way or there's the door. CAM I guess told a couple of players they could have their release and transfer. Will anything come of it? I'm not sure but it has been reported on multiple message boards today as having happened. Archie even said yesterday I believe that the 11 man rotation they had been using wasn't going to work moving forward. Curious if anyone else has heard anything about this the last couple of days?

I don’t think anyone is really being handcuffed. They have money to spend on recruiting. Yes getting grad transfers might be difficult but I’m starting to not even believe that as IU has gotten some of those in recent years. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I’m starting to agree. This is a problem. Archie hasn’t found a way to win in the B1G. The question I have is what candidates should be looked at that are realistic? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Sorry but a simple 3 point percentage isn’t compelling evidence. That doesn’t take into account whether it was off the dribble, a spot up, from the volleyball line deep or different sections of the court. If you had that info then you could evaluate but you don’t. Neither do I. So that’s why I’m not jumping to conclusions. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I’ve watched money ball. Also you can’t compare baseball to basketball. There are zero similarities. But you’ve got an opinion and I’ve got mine. Mines not changing. I know a lot about good shooters. I get to watch one of the best in the state every single day. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I’m sorry but if you don’t understand the difference from being a focal point that’s having to score in more ways than shooting vs. a spot up shooter that’s only got that job I don’t know what to tell you. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I never said it would. What I said is that Leal is a shooter and I get tired of people fighting him off. Also nobody knows what his stats are this year because Bloomington South hasn’t posted them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

5 player class but still rather large. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Correct. 35 percent is a good enough percentage. If you have 3 or 4 guys between 35 and 40 you’ll be fine. Leal, Al, and Rob could should all be there. Franklin and Hunter are candidates too. Their forms are good they just need to find the range consistently. They are both freshman that could improve. They might before this season is over. That said shooting could still be a problem but it won’t be because of Leal. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Sean McDermott shot 34% from 3 his senior year of high school. He’s a career 41% from 3 while at Butler. If you think 38% isn’t a good 3 point percentage I don’t know what to tell you. Especially when he is the focal point of other teams. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

So a couple things to address. 1) Louisville was the first school to discuss a reclass with Lander. 2) Anthony Leal is a shooter. For anyone to say that he isn’t is very wrong and to say that he can’t fill that role next year is jumping the gun. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

So can we talk about player development?
ap2345 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You do realize that if Smith went 1 of 2 from 3 next game he would be shooting 30% and if he went 1 of 1 he would be over 30%. He’s not that far off. He just doesn’t shoot many 3’s. He’s not the problem with player development others however are. It is a problem but not really with Smith. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
