  1. I don't particularly care about the grammar, but I don't even understand the shot at IU. What does "fabricated BS" even mean? lol
  2. Yes, I read the post. But teaching in Mexico, IN is, I presume, not as lucrative as being an assistant athletic director for a Big Ten University.
  3. Illinois just landed grad transfer guard Mark Alstork out of Wright State. 6'5, averaged 19 ppg last season.
  4. Wait, what rumors about De'Ron's eligibility?
  5. Kameron Rooks is a grad transfer out of Cal. 7 feet tall center who still hasn't committed anywhere as far as I know. 5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, .9 bpg last year. Has had injury problems in the past but probably worth a flier to help backup Deron for a year.

  8. From Peegs: some pretty glowing quotes from Trendon and his father Trendon Watford likes to joke that basically grew up at Indiana, and now he has a chance to play there, just as his brother did. The five-star 6-foot-7 class of 2019 forward from Mountain Brook, Ala., tonight received a scholarship from new IU coach Archie Miller. Watford is ranked No. 12 nationally by Scout.com in the 2019 class. Trendon is the younger brother of 6-foot-9 forward Christian Watford, who played at IU from 2009-13 and was a part of the class that brought IU back to national prominence, including the No. 1 ranking during the 2012-13 season. “I’m pumped,” Trendon Watford told Peegs.com tonight after receiving the scholarship offer. “I’ve been waiting on it. That’s like my second home. That’s where I grew up. I was up there every weekend when I was little. “This is big, just having a brother that played there, have a legacy. It was my second home. I met of lot of great players who were on my brother’s team.” The Watfords plan to make an unofficial visit to IU in early August. “I think I know my way there,” Ernest Watford, father of Trendon and Christian, said with a laugh. Watford can play inside and out, scores on the move, makes 3s, can power by defenders, handles the ball, rebounds, defends and has a very high skill level for his age. As a sophomore, he led his team to a state title and was named Class 7A player of the year in Alabama. Watford played 17U Nike EYBL as a freshman and is doing so again as a sophomore. Even though he’s playing a year up, he’s been one of the better players on a very competitive circuit. Miller and his staff watched Watford during both of this spring’s live evaluation periods. “They said they like how I play, how I bring energy to the floor, how I’m versatile with my ability to play inside and out and how I play defensive,” Watford said. A highly sought after player, Watford has a number of offers, among them are Indiana, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Iowa and Auburn. Indiana always was a school that would have a chance with Trendon Watford if it recruited him. “They’re up there, but I’m still enjoying the process,” Trendon Watford said. “I’ll probably be cutting my list in the next year or so. We’re probably going to take a visit in early August.” Christian Watford, who hit the legendary 3 at the buzzer to beat No. 1 Kentucky 73-72 on Dec. 10, 2011, always wanted IU to recruit his younger brother, as did his father. “We’re just excited,” Ernest Watford said. “This was a long time coming. We’ve been waiting on it a while. We had a great experience with Christian, we know how great the fan base is. “We’ve learned what Indiana basketball means. We’re excited about the new staff, especially coach (Ed) Schilling. We’ve had a long relationship with him. We’re excited about what the new staff is going to do and what their approach is and how they’re going to run the program.” The phone conversation tonight between Miller and the Watfords was in depth and went very well. “He spoke about his versatility, being able to play inside and outside. He said he was impressed with his energy, how he attacked basketball. More than that, he spoke about every day passing a photo of the shot Christian hit, the ‘Watshot,’ about the career Christian had and ton of what he heard about us as a family, how we drove up there and supported the whole team, Hoosier nation and not just Christian. “He talked about how he’s looking to put his stamp on the program, both on the offensive end and turning things up defensively. “He thought Trendon would be a huge asset to that. He said he was going to stay on him hard and how Trendon was a super priority to him and his staff and coach Schilling.” Christian Watford went to Schilling for training sessions years ago, and the family attended a seminar Schilling did in the Birmingham, Ala., area years ago before Christian even went to college. “He comes to Birmingham and does a Fellowship of Christian Athletes seminar that we’ve gone to, even before Christian even started at Indiana,” Ernest Watford said. “We’ve had a relationship with Ed and we know (assistant) Tommy Ostrom. He was Mike Miller’s coach. We’ve met him a few times, and we know about him. I love the way Ed teaches and trains. His skill development is second to none.” Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. And my opinion was that the take I quoted was very hot. What is your point exactly? My opinion is not allowed to be "I think your opinion is a little over the top"? The other funny thing about the "Social media is the worst thing to ever happen" take (other than war, famine, poverty, racism, etc. existing in the world) is that it was delivered on an online message board, which is a type of media on which people interact socially.
  10. The takes in this thread are getting too hot to handle.
  11. Jeremiah Tilmon signed a financial aid agreement with Mizzou today. That was the long rumored destination after the Illinois decommitment. Certainly an "interesting" recruitment.
  12. Garland recently listed Indiana, Vanderbilt, and Duke as top schools. The scout article also listed Tennessee, UCLA, and Ohio state but he only talked about the first three. Has to be a good sign for us. 'Archie Miller and his staff have made it a point to recruit Garland very hard since getting to Bloomington. About the Hoosiers, Garland said, "We have built a relationship really fast. They just got in and they have made me a priority, and I think Coach Miller is going to do really well, so it is a school I’m very interested in."' Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Do you live your own life with such absolutes? I'm sorry that his transition from 18 years old to 19 years old didn't impress you enough. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Obviously you disagree since you quoted me. But thanks for letting me know explicitly. Unfortunately, Thomas can't go back and change how the season went. Hence, he's trying to use that poor season as a learning opportunity and take some positive out of it. That's how life works in general, which was my original point. I don't get why this is such a bad thing or why it should incite another body language referendum. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. Like I already said, facing adversity and failure is a learning experience for people. Or at least should be. And I believe that's what he was saying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. You can condition your support based on how much a player won in school. I won't do that, but that's your prerogative and wasn't even my point. My point was related to the people cracking jokes based off Thomas's comments when it's pretty obvious what he meant.
  17. I am sure nobody on this board failed at something aged 19. And I'm positive none of you look back on any failures in your life as a learning experience that eventually made you a better person.
  18. Pure conjecture. You can't substantiate anything because you do not know RoJo. If he wants to get out of Btown so bad I find it odd that he is still on campus as of Tuesday night. Secondly, thinking that a random grad transfer will for some reason play harder than someone who has been here for 3 years is also pure conjecture.
  19. Save the hysterics for when a decision is actually made. No point in declaring college basketball dead because a kid left a year early instead of playing for a coach he doesn't know.

  22. Ostrom's home state.
  23. I'd suggest looking at second round picks from the last few drafts before emphatically saying no or that there's a 0% chance. Crazier things have happened than taking a flier on a great college scorer who you expect to shoot 40+% from 3 as a pro.
