2019 General Recruiting Thread
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Having problems seeing any post on here, but if it hasn't been said already, Isiah Stewart is transferring to La Lumiere. Definitely a good thing so he is closer for us to recruit. Also means he has no problems playing in Indiana. -
This is exaxtly why I wanted Archie. He knows who can and can't play at this level. A shooter can't shoot if he can't do anything else. In Archie's defense I can't say a word cause like I posted awhile before this happened I would have done the same thing.
-
I have NO problem with this. Archie gave him a chance to see what he could do, but most knew he was no where near talented enough. I would have killed for his oppurtunity knowing that Ancila where I played at isn't much worse than where he is going now. He had zero D1 interest. Kid is bitter and is gonna say all the things he can about us and Archie. He was Crean's guy. I wouldn't blame any coach for this with any player. He was still going to allow him to keep his scholly and go to school. What is the problem?

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wanted Wiseman for '19 but during the game on tv they said he wants UCLA and USC to offer and go after him harder so I dont think we get him, but Watford and Brooks would be HUGE. I think we end up taking 4 from that class. Morgan, Romeo, Davis and a transfer. -
(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What Romeo sees is 4 bigs that will make up a good to great frontcourt, wings that can defend and shoot and guards that have talent and experience just no star power on the team and he would give us that. Durham, Green, CuJo, Phinisee and Anderson are good enough in the backcourt, but we will get at least 1 more kid to fill it out IMO. I also expect a grad transfer big. Idk why but I know Archie sees the '19 class like a difference maker and will want the extra scholly. Unless Garland wants to come too. I am very excited that we can almost give Romeo 100% of our attention now. -

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
As tight lipped as Romeo has been it wouldn't surprise me to see Texas become a contender. I expect a school to come out of nowhere. Also people take his quietness as him being shy and that is the wrong impression. His quietness is a humble confidence. Extremely confident and the "man" part is why I have said I believe he comes here for awhile. He seems like the kid who wants to run the team not play with a bunch of guys just as good as him. U of L has a lot of talent on their team. We have enough that with him we could be very good. This Texas thing is still bothering me though lol. Came out of nowhere. -
(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati

Sorry bout the misinformation. I fully trust the guy that told me. Has been very good with info in the past. Was told there was multiple tweets of him making it official on twitter, so he backed off. Sunday was the other day he told he from the jump, but not sure anymore if I can go off that. His words were by the end of August most likely so we should hear something soon. I really don't understand the hold up if he is 100% sold on us. He will make it known when he is ready though it seems. -

Don't shoot the messeneger, but told it will be tomorrow he announces. Was told Thursday or Sunday, but the "source" said 99.9% tomorrow night. The thing that worries me is his brother goes to Purdue. I know it's very close but could be weird for them. With Eastern being named a PG as well as having Carsen Edwards I think that pushed them out of the picture though. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
2017-18 Season Expectations
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes and I have good intel that besides maybe Davis, CuJo has been the most improved player on the team. Juwan has also gotten some rave reviews. CuJo will not be transferring though. Unless something drastic happens this year. Green has been one kid I haven't heard much about. The season couldn't come soon enough ugh. Also I believe he could start as well just think Hartman will be in there at first. I could see CuJo sliding in after 5-10 games though. If he does start that means he has REALLY improved so I would be happy with that. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Kansas sneaking in there. They have made a move for Zion as well as Dotson. Could be very appealing for Romeo when they also have some very talented transfers becoming elgible. Would he wanna play under Zion's shadow though? Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Go to CuJo's twitter and see his workout video that he retweeted. I have been hearing amazing things about the kid, but that is hearsay this gives you guys a shot to look at his form. He has made a slight adjustment to get his release quicker, but has said it is making him a lot more comfortable which is the most important thing. Personal relationships may affect my judgement on him, but if not for RoJo I believe he would be our 2 guard starter. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Perfectly said. It's your choice what to post. I enjoy debate and conversation whether my opinion agrees with it or not, doesn't mean your opinion and your sources are bad. Keep them coming. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Hit send before I was finished, but to finish the staff knows that floor, but also knows it is possible he could be very good. Imagine if our pg this year was a kid like Hartman. We would all be happy and that seems like what RP will offer with maybe a little more ceiling. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Assistants are awesome and I love ours, but Archie doesn't fly cross country for an IN STATE kid if he doesn't think he can contribute for half his scholly. Also knowing even with Garland they would need RP to play a bit leaves that statement very questionable. The in state thing is a factor, but remember Eric Hunter and Aaron Henry were recruited but not very hard by the staff and are both good in state talent. I have heard they want him not for his ceiling, but his floor. The floor being a pass first pg who handles the ball well and can hit shots every now and then, which in college plenty of good teams get away with. (2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
They're on in a lot of kids top schools, but besides Garland they don't really have a shot with any. Fisher-Davis looks like he will leave at the end of this year, so talent wise they may not even make the tourney next year. I get it's his home school, but if he really wanted to be a one and done he should be looking elsewhere. Naz Reid is going to LSU. Honestly, going to Duke w Tre Jones as much as I think it is a bad idea is a better idea than Vandy. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
This kid is impressive from that highlight you can tell a lot. Has a nice floater. Can get into the lane when he needs to. Good shooter Doesn't seem to force bad shots. Great off the ball movement He should be working on his ball handling, strength and honing his skills he holds already and I could see him being a top 30 player by the end of this season. Picked up a CB for him today from Chris Fisher. Have heard he will commit at the end of this week. Thursday or Sunday being the most likely days due to scheduling conflicts. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

Looks like there have been other incidents too. I pray for the victims and also that Darius with such a bright future wasn't involved in any of them. If so please move on Archie. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
(2021) CG Jalen Blackmon
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
For the forseeable future, Jalen is a favorite to be a Hoosier. Very good ties to the Blackmon family and I promise he is looking better than JBJ did at this age though he was very impressive. For my understanding UK is the ONLY threat to us. Sr was skeptical with Crean, but loved the loyalty the program has. With Archie, he will have to keep on him to get him but they were impressed with him and had JBJ very close to coming back when after the season it was 110% sure he was gone. With the Coach K news too it would seem that the 2 pg thing may not even be a sure thing even if they wanted it to be. I fully expect Garland to be in play for us, but still think Vandy will be hard to beat. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
Seeing a lot of reports Coach K could be done after this year. Pure speculation by most on twitter, but it'd be foolish to expect Duke to drop down on kids lists. Duke is a machine. It will be interesting to see who they hire if something does happen w Coach K. I expect Mike White near the top of that list. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Garland & Jones could play together sure, but I have thought Duke was realistic the entire time, even now. Realistic and probable are opposites for me though. Garland is gonna end up at Vanderbilt IMO. UK is taking Quickley. UCLA could end up being a dark horse for him. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
