(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah the players coming in will be important. Does he see our guys as guys who won't offer much in year one and is Garland the key? I believe it is yes to both. I love our chances, but if we got Garland I would almost guarantee we get Romeo. Guys stepping up that will be back next year could really help us too though. Kansas has a good to great class. The incoming transfers make it amazing if they get Grimes. My understanding is some schools have pitched him handling the ball a lot and that has turned him off a little. He wants to be a scorer through and through. Great time to be a Hoosier fan tho. Lots to look forward too. -

I think Darius is getting the short end though. This thread is almost 90 pages, while Darius is around 30 last I checked. We should combine the two until one announces lol. -

Lol didn't reread that. I meant he could always wait, but I believe he is ours by December. -

"Romeo originally planned on announcing in the spring time, but that was when he was really into 3 or 4 schools as well as curious about a few more. He set up his visits early to focus on his senior year, which is another reason we could see a announcement in November. When UK and Duke were serious threats he wanted to see who stayed and who went, now he is more concerned with the teams incoming class." That was a DM I got this morning. I think he may wait till Spring, but I really think if his visits will be done and he doesn't add any then he will announce this winter. I know he wants to get Mr. Basketball and win a State Title so maybe he wants to get it outta the way, which is the main reason I believe he will be a early signee. -

I think HH is bigger for Garland honestly than Romeo. That only being the case because I feel like Romeo is ours unless KU has a monster pitch. The ongoing investigation there even if self imposed only helps us even more. I do expect UNC to join us and KU, but they seem to be turning a lot of attention to Nassir Little. Have heard UCLA is a dark horse too. -

Yes, he has been to 2 if I'm not mistaken, but the current class has usually got the attention. Romeo and our staff must have felt it was a big deal for him to be here. It was reported we consulted w his family before setting our date for HH. Also worth noting the previous years were under Crean. This is a whole new experience with a completely different staff and a lot of new players or should I say guys looked at as role players being key contributors this year. -

That dude that picked him isn't the best at the ol crystal ball so it I take his KU pick as an IU pick lol. Interesting to note, KU had their Late Night at the Phog this weekend and Romeo decided to visit UCLA instead. I know his KU visit was set after, but it is a nice situation. We literally set ours up around him. That should tell him enough. -

BTW there is a kid using Andy Miller as his name on twitter making accusations against a lot of schools. IU being one. Do not believe them. -

Love the new mock. I believe it was chris007 that I talked with about the rave reviews he was getting all Summer, but I didn't expect 1st rounder after his sophomore year lol. This kid has plenty of talent and is why I have said our frontcourt was fine. Also why I said he was needed more than the other 2 when Crean was let go. This kiid has STAR potential. I just didn't see it happening till after Junior year. I believe De'Ron has a shot as well. If we got Romeo and Garland, we could have 4 guys leave early and then lose Morgan. That would be 5 scholly's for all the ones worried. What a time to be a Hoosier. Of course in a month or so the mood could be drastically different, but I am confident we get one of the 5 star kids this year. CuJo & Clifton next year could end up being a very good 1-2 punch even without the 5 stars. -

#stayhomeromeo should become the slogan for IU fans to use on twitter. I like it. -

Lol well I wasnt implying he drove a lexus or nothing crazy, but they are comfortable. Smart family. Why risk losing millions over a hundred grand or so? I just dont see them doing that. I think there is nothing that comes from it, but that is my opinion. I could have the wrong picture of them. Sounds like you have an even better one tho and you sound confident as well so that makes me even more at ease. -

To add to what Moye has said, Romeo's father from meeting him doesn't seem like a guy willing to risk a rep and stock in his kid making MILLIONS for 100,000 grand. The family is well off. Trust me on that. I will eat crow if I must if anything happens, but this kid and family are as safe of a bet as ANY. -

I never meant Kansas wasn't in this. I stated a few daya ago they were serious contenders and had a few question it. Like I wanted a 5 star to be gaining traction to Kansas instead of my school lol. I meant that yes they are involved but they weren't a serious threat until a few weeks ago and until Self's in home he hadn't even scheduled a visit there. Self's in home made a huge impression and caused me to post my comments the other day. Plenty of schools are in on kids but aren't close to favorites, but when they go from ahhh top 7 I may visit to it is down to Kansas and IU, yeah that is outta nowhere. Just like if UNC made a strong run or UCLA I would consider it a outta nowhere situation because plenty of kids visit schools with no intention of ever going there. -

For those worried, be worried, but I fully trust Archie despite his big brother looking like a slimeball. Archie just has a different feel and like many coaches have said with these investigations, they all have a feel for who was dirty or not. I believe Archie ramping up on Romeo during all this, is going to be a factor and that Archie isn't worried of Romeo being involved. If he chooses us, I believe everything will be fine. Not being a sore loser but if he goes to KU being another Adidas school and coming out of nowhere to be neck and neck with us will be interesting to say the least. I feel like we get him or Darius or both so for now, I am in a great mood lol. The car rumors worry me, but looks to be a fake account so. -

A gut feeling he took a car from Adidas? That is a weird thing to share lol. If we did we should know very soon so. I highly doubt Romeo's family(very smart) would be that stupid to have him personally driving it everyday. Either way sounds fake to me, but who knows nowadays. Archie's big bro is about to go down as well. Gonna be an interesting day. -

Kansas IS going to at least make a run at Anfernee Simons too so be patient people. They have a few big targets they are worrying about more at the moment. Zion, RJ and probably Anfernee. Simons is from Florida though so nothing may get too serious with him. -

3 or 4 flip to IU and Meyer flips to KU lol. Well, were in a battle for him w another big school. I believe we find out a lot more in a month. Till then nothing happens till he visits IU and Kansas. -

This is crazy, but I will repeat it because I saw it. Some car dealer is saying on twitter a member from Adidas bought a car and now said car is being driven by Romeo. Lol I find this most likely horrible incorrect and sad a person would start this about a teenager but like I said, posting because I felt like you guys would get a kick outta it. -

Pitino is being let go at the press conference today as well as Jurich. Per reports that is. IU is the heavy favorite to land him now. Kansas is our biggest competition, but very happy we get him on campus before his KU visit on the 28th. Great, great news for IU. Also, if you follow the CB the latest picks for either Romeo or Garland are for IU or foggy(Garland). Archie may be on the verge of a massive class and building IU into a monster. -

Like I said that info was wrong. BTW Rabby has been wrong a lot in the past too. Just 6 months ago it was hard to find credibility off his name on this board. Now he is the only source? Everyone hears different things. It is the people that feel the need not to overreact each piece of info they get, that you end up trusting. -

Just so I dont become that sources guy lol I make sure I never go directly off what I'm told and usually put my own spin on it unless it is exact quotes off twitter or something. That is why all I said earlier was KU was becoming a player nothing more. I dont think Romeo will have kept his recruitment quiet mostly this whole time just to leak his destination prematurely. His family is way to caculated for that as is he. -

Sounds like Doyel got similar info as to what I heard when I posted that KU was coming on strong earlier. Difference is I took it with a grain of salt and didn't overreact. Kansas is making a run, but that run is actually being involved with this recruitment for once. Asked my guy if he saw Doyel's tweet and he said, "is he an IU hater like Jerry Meyer? I said no he is actually a big reporter in the state here. He replied, wow I feel bad for Indiana sports lol. To be clear I don't have a problem with Doyel. He just says exactly what he is told. Doesn't dig into what he is being told. -

Of no wrongdoing. This changes things, but time will tell how much. IU keeps moving up more and more in the parents and Romeo's mind. I have heard KU is making a strong push. If he signs late that worries me. I believe he signs this winter tho.
