The Final Four is the Final Four... but doing it in a place with a reputation (good or bad) like UCLA could be easier than a relatively remote place like Oklahoma... of course, it could also be expected more... I see it as. same-same. Get thee to a Final Four.

The first 3 years of Crean is a perfect example. The program was gutted, there was no NIL and we were largely playing scrubs and castoffs... but the fans understood that and appreciated the effort... the results weren't the true measure at that point... I believe and hope that a new coach would get a bit of a honeymoon period, regardless of who it is.

A large portion of UCLA's appearances are the direct results of Sam Gilbert's illegal NIL long before NIL was a thing. Wooden cheated and should have an asterisk next to every NCAA title he "won". But I digress...

Exactly this... compare the commends Woodson made to/about the fans last Senior Day with how Cignetti called out the fans for the football team. Woodson drove the wedge deeper, and Cignetti was able to rally the fans around what he was doing in Memorial Stadium.

Many of us thought that about Archie. He was a bust.

I doubt seriously that it was to shut the fanbase up. The story that's being told around is that Woodson initiated it by asking about his status for year 5, expecting to be re-coronated by Buckner, Ferguson, et al... Dolson is reported to have been willing to wait until the end of the season to have that discussion with Woodson... and that would have bought him more time to stealthily seek out The Entitled King's replacement... So, now, it's out and we (the fanbase and BTB) are being ridiculed and trolled on X by any number of members of the bot army. There was also the issue of a booing fanbase and the impending appearance of candidate #1B (Dusty and UM).

The "fishbowl" discussion is interesting. No way to know before we know... but the IU job > than the UL job (in my mind, and many around here)... and the fact that Dusty was an alum is also a factor that could tip the "fishbowl" discussion in our favor... we shall see...

I disagree. Keeping Woodson another year definitely cost us Dusty... it doesn't matter how badly Dusty wanted the job, there was no way Dolson could hire him with The King of Mediocrity camped out in the chair. Now, the question is "does Dusty still want it"? That's the answer we will get between now and April.
