Did he not sign the extension that Clemson offered? Are we paying an even higher price for more mediocre? -

Exactly this... there's a 4-step process: Hype the big dogs (Stevens, Donovan, Wright, Few, Drew, OTZ)... whip up the fan base Now hype the "desperation hires" (Brownell, Turgeon) Now the fan base will accept almost anyone that is not one of the "desperation hires" and be grateful/relieved Wait 4 years, and repeat Works almost every time. -

100% He was a really good player 45 years ago... but IMO, he's burned every bit of respect and good will over the course of the past 4 years... and even though he has not earned it, the right thing to do is wait to announce until he's gone... but his hubris, ego and attacks on the fan base has made me just want to be completely done with this joker. But, yeah, Dolson is correct to take the high road... -

Kinda hurts your eyes... the conference calls it "aesthetically unique". https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/2025-big-12-tournament-explaining-logo-centric-court-with-conference-branding-scattered-throughout-floor/ -

Under Crean? His first season, the basketball team APR jumped from 886 under Sampson to 975... the following two years they hit 1000 each. https://www.insidethehall.com/2012/06/20/apr-score-continues-to-rise-under-crean/ -

If you bothered to read the article that I quoted, clearly Crean recovered the APR scores... in his first 3 years, his scores were 975, 1000 and 1000. I am not saying that Crean had no off-court issues, but he wasn't nearly as bad as Sampson... and everyone has moved on. So, back on topic, rest assured that Indiana won't hire Sampson, Beard or Wade this time around... and probably never will. -
It doesn't matter that what he did is now legal. This issue is that he tried to get away with breaking the rules... then he lied... and still hasn't shown any remorse AFAIK... except maybe he's sorry for having got caught. Rules are put in place to keep the playing field level. When they change, they change for everybody. What John Wooden did was cheating. What Bill Self, John Calipari, Rick Pitino, Eddie Sutton and others have done was cheating - trying to gain an unfair advantage... I get it that the NCAA is pretty good at selective enforcement, but regardless, at the time Wade did it, paying players was against the rules. He got caught. Sucks to be him, I guess. But it speaks volumes about his character as a man and as a coach.

Well, yeah, he made phone calls... and recruited thugs, drug dealers, kids who refused to go to class... Sampson had IU's APR for men's basketball down to 886 which would have made them ineligible for the tournament anyway. "Crean inherited a multi-year APR score of 866 from Kelvin Sampson and thanks to single year scores of 975 in 2008-2009, 1000 in 2009-2010 and 1000 in 2010-2011, the latest multi-year score now sits at 952. Under new NCAA rules, the Hoosiers would have been declared ineligible for postseason play with a score of 866." https://www.insidethehall.com/2012/06/20/apr-score-continues-to-rise-under-crean/ -
