IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
AZ Hoosier replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Ah, yes, the calendar posters. My aunt worked for an insurance company and they would get the posters a few days early. Dad would pick them up and mail them to me. It was a glorious day the day the poster arrived. -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
AZ Hoosier replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Yeah, the thing that I remember most was the absolute dearth of recruiting info. I graduated in '77 and moved to Arizona in December of that year. I remember my dad sending me care packages of clippings from the Star about Knight, the basketball program, etc. Then around '82 we got cable and could watch the games on WGN and similar. Before the glut of basketball on cable, I remember being able to pick from 2 or 3 stations to watch the IU game. After following the '76 team in person, on campus, imagine being exiled to Arizona for the '81 and '87 championship runs. -
(2026 Transfer) OL Wisconsin - Joe Brunner to Indiana
AZ Hoosier replied to CSP's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Wonder what Brunner's payday looks like? I'm not overly concerned, as Cig has proven to the donor$ that he knows what he's doing. -
As a Hoosier basketball fan, I feel for you both.

It is kind of bizarre. I mean, did Lanning really not know that Moore was returning when he went after Riola in the portal? Or did Moore change his mind? Can't wrap my head around this play, either way.

So, who is "king"? SEC or ACC? Idiots. The answer is B1G. -
Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
AZ Hoosier replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Probably a reason that he's no longer with the SEC/ESPN brain "trust". -
For me, the largest part is the fatigue that all of this has brought on. Like the Cubs fans, I start each season believing that we're about to make a statement with the upcoming season. But as time passes, the ability to stomach some of the really bad play, head-scratching decisions, etc, grows less and less. It started with Crean, who got 8 years. To be honest, I was over him around year 6 or 7. Then came Archie. He got 4 years, but it was clear after a couple that he was not the answer. I was never really into Woodson, but despite efforts to prop him up with donors' NIL money, I hoped. After watching Woodson coach, it was clear that he had no clue. This season, we turn the page to DeVries. I was on board with the hire, and really thought that he could buy/build a team. I guess 16 games into the season is still a bit early to call it, and I'm willing to give him another season or two. But I am absolutely not impressed so far. I get that his roster was primarily built to match his coaching style, but it just doesn't work in the B1G with the monster front court players in the league. And if the threes aren't falling, it's game over, as we have no option to play differently. So here we are. Wishing and hoping that we can be competitive, but at this point it's a pipe dream. And at 72, I've better ways to spend my remaining time on this big, blue marble. I will probably still watch if I remember that there's a game, but I am nowhere nearly as invested in Indiana basketball as I used to be. It hurts. But it hurts less if I don't watch.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty close. The apathy thing is real. Thankfully we have the glorious diversion that is Indiana Football, but every time I watch an IU basketball game, I feel like Charlie Brown approaching the football that Lucy is holding. And like Charlie Brown, every time I get to the ball, Lucy has pulled it away. Life is too short to watch bad basketball.

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
AZ Hoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
IU Athletics invites IU students, alumni, and Hoosier fans to gather at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday, January 19, for IU’s official watch party as Coach Curt Cignetti’s IU Football team battles the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. All attendees will need a free digital ticket for admission, which can be secured HERE. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. All seating is general admission and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The game will be broadcast live on each of the four screens on the arena’s center-hung scoreboard, and IU Athletics will distribute 10,000 commemorative rally towels to fans as they enter the arena. “We’re excited to offer an opportunity for those who aren’t able to make the trip to Miami to share this experience with fellow Hoosier fans,” said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson. “As will be the case at Hard Rock Stadium, I know that the atmosphere inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday night will be electric.” Standard game-day policies, including the clear bag policy, will be in effect for the watch party. Concession stands and the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall IU Team Store will also be open beginning at 6 p.m. (Official release from updates@go.iuhoosiers.com)
