  1. Absolutely. Until we start bringing in top talent across the board like the elite teams, we'll struggle against real title contenders. Even if we never do (how many elite cfb teams are there?) - being a very good, top 1/3 of the conference team, year in and year out, would still be a fantastic improvement.
  2. True. Heck, a new coach could come in and make a big impact for the first season or two and then settle in to ho-hum results (or take a couple of seasons to build momentum).
  3. Yes. Assuming the account we've heard from 4 years ago with BS to be true, if Dolson inquired and got anything but an "I'm interested, tell me more" type response this time, that would be time to focus his efforts elsewhere.
  4. That thought has crossed my mind. It'd be a sure-fire way to tamp down rumors about progress with other coaches. Just slip out some little tidbit about Stevens and everyone will immediately focus on that.
  5. This. I'd be a bit disappointed BUT I would still consider any of those 4 as great hires and be fully on the bandwagon soon thereafter.
  6. Thanks. I guess that wouldn't factor into it then.
  7. Regarding Drew - is Homer still around? If so, he'd be getting up there in years and perhaps Scott would want to be closer. Just wondering.
  8. IDK, but Bob Knight almost left for New Mexico a season or two after winning a National title.
  9. Heck, in retrospect Baylor was trying to do us a favor by dissuading HP.
  10. Us small-time donors are pushing for him too.
  11. But who "knows"? ; - ) OT: Is there a chance we could get more emojis? TOS appears to be running the same board software, but they have a lot.
  12. I doubt any highly accomplished coach leaves his current position solely for money. Maybe NIL, but mostly it would be because they're not happy where they are or because of extenuating circumstances (Toy Williams leaving KU for his alma mater or coach who's been busted down to a lesser program because his transgressions). As for Dusty May, it really looks like that ship has sailed.
  13. While I sit here waiting for a phone call, a couple of musings tegarding Dolson's search process: - What if Scott has one confidant that he uses as a "firestarter"? He tells them something they both know to be a red herring, and that person let's it "slip" to some highly connected individuals. Thus the telephone game begins. It's just a thought but seems like a viable strategy for keeping others off the scent. - It'd be funny if he (Dolson) were to contact a potential candidate who's not interested but could be for another conference rival (Iowa?) in the near future. Start a rumor we're negotiating with them which forces their current school to offer an extension and pay raise to lock them up. That way it could take them off the table for that rival. LOL - Screw automated customer service call systems.
  14. Speaking of their feeble message board, they have a discussion about our coaching search. Unsurprisingly, several think we should go for Shrewsberry. There have been a couple of new posters recently, who didn't seem like obvious trolls, who alluded to this but have disappeared after the rumor that Dolson is telling people to keep mum (also JY and RTZ).
  15. I suspect he may be "on the lamb" when March 2 comes and goes.
  16. Time to break out the Over Rated chant.
  17. "Over the finish line".....that's a new one.
  18. Painter is trash and can't win anything without Edey. (Check him off the list!) Not my words - I just read it on the PU message board.
  19. I think Collins has done well, given the restraints you mention. Given that, it still seems like a gamble to rely on what he COULD do if given NIL war chest. We really need to find a coach who has proven what he can do regardless of resources. Of course that will only happen if we identify and convince such a candidate to accept our offer. If we can't, then a guy like Collins should be in consideration.
  20. I hear it in my head: "One MILLION dollars"
