I suspect DD will be doing things differently and we may not be able to predict or explain some of his decisions. All that matters is that he assemble the roster as best he can to produce a competitive, winning team. Until he's established his recruiting and brought in a couple of classes, we may not see what his ultimate IU team will look like.

I'd like to see him end up at a school like Dayton. If he can get past his injury and regain his skills, it'd be fun to watch him dominate. Then he could cash in. I'd think NIL opportunities would be unrealistic at this time.

It's interesting that you mention beard & UK. I was perusing their MB and there's a couple of threads about our hire. More than one poster was criticizing us for not hiring beard. All I could think was: why didn't you guys hire him, then? They instead hired a guy that no one outside Kentucky considered a home run but it seems to have worked out well for them. It's similar hypocrisy as those types being critical our our past hires (justifiably), but then criticizing our fans of "running off" those same lackluster coaches after 4 seasons (or more).

Young, accomplished as a player, and trusted by CDD - sound great.

There's a lot to be said about a coach that really wants the job. I recall Sampson had told people he'd choke the sh*t out the IU job (presumably in a positive way, lol). Archie is said to have taken it only because it was a great opportunity and it was time to take a step up. Woodson wanted it but wasn't capable of or willing to put in maximum effort.

It is suspicious. While I'm sure his techniques have merit, they may not be ideally suited for basketball. I will say that I don't remember any occasion when we were clearly the better conditioned team (to my knowledge).

As I warm to the choice, it certainly does. First experienced, adaptable coach this century. I'm probably not the first to think of it - but it struck me that our hiring Devries is similar to when we hired Knight (thought to be going to another B10 team before we grabbed him).
