  1. If Clemson and OSU win, what does the playoff field look like? Bama, Clemson. Notre Dame, and Oklahoma? Could Georgia or OSU sneak in?
  2. Agreed. Georgia had a much better shot to win the CFP but won't get in. The fake will be talked about in GA for a long time.
  3. Clemson in cfb is another example. Frequent classes ranked either outside the top 10 or just cracking it, yet they are a dominant force. Class quality with less attrition is huge.
  4. Arizona, USC, Villanova, UK, Florida have multiple 5 stars.
  5. It could also influence students who feel they have to apply and be accepted to the "best" school in the ranks, whatever that may mean. Academic rankings are basically a prestige and reputation factor. This may look better on a resume I guess, but I have been told by multiple physicians (oncologists, specifically) that it doesn't matter one bit where you went to undergrad, and probably does not matter where you attend medical school (in terms of securing a desirable residency and a job as an attending physician). So where does it matter then? Securing impressive LORs? Getting better access to research opportunities? Maybe better at top tier universities, but IU is not lacking in either of these departments. Departmental rankings (med, law, business, engineering, etc) would seem like they are more important because one could find which major they are interested in and research from there.
  6. I think most people cite US News & World Report when talking about academic rankings. There are criticisms of this model but it is the most popular and imo fairly accurate. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities
  7. This really happened?
  8. Stick around for the furious comeback in the last 4 minutes that ultimately comes up short!
  9. Blood clot possibly? Would not be an injury. The "condition" could be DVT. Seems unlikely though
  10. I agree. Cal seems to have become too fat and happy. With the combination of a national title, being at a prime coaching position (where you are no longer striving to climb the ladder), and, until recently, sustained success, it seems he is either lazy or finally being exploited as a coach. Life is good.
  11. Right, and we know these can work if you have depth in the surrounding classes. Still hope we can get more than just 1 impact player out of this class. Idk much about Armaan Franklin but if he can develop into a meaningful 4 year player and we land 1 5* player that is decent depth already. I think after Crean's recruiting misses we are all a little sick of wasted scholarships.
  12. There will almost always be some player(s) on our team that make some dumb plays or struggle with bball IQ. In cases like Troy Williams, his supreme talent level warrants that he stay on the floor most of the time. In others like Verdell Jones, his decision making improved over the course of 4 years, albeit not as quickly as some of us hoped. Green is not as freakishly talented as Troy but he does have talent. We need his decision making to improve noticeably and act like an upperclassman. I believe he can but we shall see.
  13. We could land 1 big name and maybe a smaller one or grad transfer, ending up somewhere in the middle. Still a good class, but not the home run we are salivating for.
  14. UK most likely can and would accept a Brooks commit. But they do already have 2 wing commits in the class. We are targeting Brooks as our primary wing, it seems. Could be wrong, as these are just educated guesses.
  15. With a faster than expected rise of Phinisee, does Al see less minutes? Or does he primarily play backup at 2 guard this year? He might be better suited for that role anyway.
  16. Living in the Louisville area and listening to the sports talk radio here, I will say there has been no "death penalty" talk recently. Many still seem to think a multiple year postseason ban is the likely outcome, and given that cloud is still there, it is very odd to see the sustained success for their recruiting.
  17. Flood of crystal ball picks for MSU.
  18. Thanks. If what HoosierX and others said actually happened then good riddance.
  19. Would someone in the know mind sending me a PM regarding the reason for suspension? I am out of the loop
  20. Who do we think is primed for breakout year/ most improved player for the upcoming season? I know it's all speculation at this point but we have heard great things about improvements from Green and Smith. Anything on Clifton Moore? Haven't heard much of anything on his progress.
  21. My guess is that we still would have taken him, but he would not want to play for us.
  22. Yes I don't think it will happen either (<50%). I could see him making a huge jump but still not enough to get to NBA levels, although with his athleticism he certainly has a shot. I was just coming up with a hypothetical scenario in which we had 5 open scholarships after this season, and Smith is my best guess outside of Romeo for a chance at the pros in 2019. It is possible that 2 transfers would be the more likely outcome.
  23. 2 seniors graduate. Romeo to NBA. Unexpected NBA entry (Smith?) 1 transfer. Seems unlikely that all those dominoes will fall, but stranger things have happened. I expect 4 open slots for freshmen next year so 5 isn't a total stretch!
  24. Admittedly I don't know much background about this recruitment, but it seems like this one is harder to read. Has anyone heard any information on Stewart that could show potential favorite(s) or leader(s)? And while I assume we would take Stewart and TJD, would this be a situation like Franklin/ Newman where we could only get 1 because of competition of minutes at the same spot?
