As I said.. convincing win against Minnesota and then a disgrace a few days later against Purdue. I have no disillusions about Woody being fired after this season, but we’ve seen enough during his tenure to know he’s not the answer.

Lol that’s really downplaying who TJD was. “As a sophomore during the 2020–21 season, Jackson-Davis averaged 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Jackson-Davis garnered several awards at the close of the season. He was named a third team All-American by the Sporting News, NABC and USBWA; an honorable mention All-American (AP); All-Big Ten (First Team by media and AP; Second Team by coaches); and a Wooden Award Finalist.”

Woody’s personality, at least what we see from him in the media and such, does seem a little grating/arrogant. He also seems to be a little lazy from the stories we’ve heard. He doesn’t come across as an high energy guy. Almost like he likes having the IU head coaching title but doesn’t care for the day to day grind. And hey, I don’t blame him. He turns 66 in two months. Nearing retirement age. A year-round like the IU job doesn’t give you the relaxation you may want after a long career. Not all 65 year olds are the same. Some love to work and will grind until they die (or close to it). Others want to kick back and relax. Neither is “wrong,” but only one matches the P5 head coach job description.

They’re consistently good at doing just enough to make the pitchfork fans look slightly overeager. They’ll have stinkers like Nebraska and tonight but then they’ll have games like OSU to quell the grumbling. Personally I don’t really watch the games anymore. Even when we win it’s usually ugly. Woody coaches a system straight out of 2003. It’s brutal to watch. At least Crean’s teams were fun.
-
Maybe so, but the more meaningful postseason games, the better. Especially with the regular bowl season being so terrible now.
-
If you just want to gripe about the fans then whatever. Breaking news: fans of a formerly elite program are disgruntled. You can’t consistently put out a **** product and get mad when the consumers are upset by it. The fans weren’t the ones who were blown out by Nebraska last night, and the fans aren’t the ones who have consistently lost for the past two decades. Yet the fans still keep showing up. There will come a time when they stop, and that’s when the program will finally die.
-
Fan support and history are about the only things IU has going for it at this point. Some will say NIL, but that still hasn’t led to elite recruiting. We’ve made 6 NCAA tournaments in the past 15 years. People like to mock Calipari when he loses, but UK has made 7 elite eights during that same span. Our results are closer to the team that blew us out last night than they are to the likes of Duke/UK. Without the fan support. this program would be nothing, honestly. It’s running on fumes as it is with it.
-
The fact the fans still show up and largely pack Assembly Hall despite the product on its court over the past 25 years directly contradicts the “crappy fans” angle. As for random ‘fans’ tweeting mean things, Duke or Kentucky fans would have burned down their arenas at this point. IU fans are tame in comparison.

Woodson never should’ve been hired. He was a middling NBA head coach (46.3% record) who hadn’t had a head coaching job in almost a decade. He recently had no job at all for two seasons (18/19 and 19/20). He was hired for one reason and one reason only - the college he went to more than three decades prior. He inherited TJD from Archie, and TJD carried the team for the next two seasons. Without TJD, well, we don’t look so hot. I’d be fine with getting rid of Woodson today, but the IU administration won’t replace him with anyone better. The days of a powerhouse iubb program are long gone.

Yes, I live in Philly

I don’t care if FSU lined up with their cheerleaders, 60 points is an ***kicking of the highest order. You can’t whine for weeks about being left out of the playoff and then have the worst loss in program history.
-
60 points. They had a chance to prove the doubters wrong by beating Georgia in the Orange Bowl. Instead their players quit and suffered literally the worst loss in program history. Yet somehow you’re still here complaining about Alabama getting into the playoff. That was a far better playoff game than we would’ve gotten if they put FSU in.
-
Your Seminoles just lost by 60 to the team Alabama beat to make it to the playoff.
-
They do have a lot of opt outs (though Georgia does too), but 63-3 is just horrible. Georgia frankly had less to play for tonight yet they showed up while FSU’s players decided to quit. Both teams were disappointed about missing the playoff and reacted in completely different ways.
-
At least now we don’t have to hear about how 14-0 FSU is the real national champion (and at least their blowout loss didn’t happen in the playoff).
-
I’ve become a big NIL/transfer portal hater and this crappy bowl season isn’t helping.

This fanbase won’t even accept anyone without a squeaky clean recruiting background, so Beard is a nonstarter with his legal issues. Besides, hiring a mediocre coach and then chastising and mocking the portions of the fanbase who aren’t elated with mediocre results is half the fun for many folks. Keeping that in place will be priority #1 for the next coaching search.
-
I mean, these frustrations are 20+ years in the making for the fanbase. Been far, far more downs than ups during that period. We’ve seen this same movie play out many times before. Disinterested IU teams comes out with no effort, squeaks out a win against a bad team, rinse, repeat. Nothing about this team or staff inspires confidence in me.
