  1. I don’t buy IU gear, I don’t buy tickets, and I don’t watch games. IU fans can vote with their wallets. As long as the athletic program makes money off IU basketball they’re happy. They’re not incentivized to make changes. If fans stopped spending their money? That would wake the administration up.
  2. Sure you are. You post all the time about how you don’t want IU to do the things other successful programs do to win, and you say anyone who disagrees isn’t a ‘true fan.’. Hasn’t exactly worked out the past 25 years for IU doing things that way, has it? I remember the graphic about IU being one of the most ‘profitable’ athletic programs. How about they actually use that profit. Offer $6 million a year, explain to coaches that you’re dropping the red tape and are ready to play ball. Guarantee that lands IU a dude. But, they’ll never do that. So we get lectures about our unreasonable expectations.
  3. A portion of the fanbase is perfectly happy filling the lovable loser role in college basketball and can’t fathom fans having higher expectations than that. Including the administration. Winning is hard. It’s much easier to sit back, collect a profit, and blame the fanbase for having expectations.
  4. Yes Scott, it’s much better for IU’s perception for the media to write articles trashing IU for sucking on the court. If a coach doesn’t want to come to IU because he wants the chance to suck for several years before he’s judged, that’s not a guy I’d ever want. There is quite literally zero reason why it would take a coach more than 3 years to have things trending in the right direction at IU with NIL and the transfer portal. This isn’t football where you have 75+ guys on the roster. You can transform a roster overnight if you want to.
  5. Caleb Love is exactly what this team needs and is missing. There likely wouldn’t be any fire Woodson chatter in that case because the season would look drastically different. But Woodson’s stubbornness got in the way. Sure it would’ve been a gamble. But you won’t hit many home runs if you refuse to swing for the fences.
  6. Are we supposed to give a crap what the national media says? Oh no, talking heads think we life on from our crappy coaches too soon. Can’t have that.
  7. No stud guard was scared of our very mediocre returning guards lol. Be for real here. If Woody couldn’t bring any in then that’s a salesman problem. Caleb Love is averaging 19 a game on the #8 team in the country. Wouldn’t have wanted Woody to promise him a starting job, though. Heavens no. The guys we have are much better.
  8. Down the road of firing an underperforming coach? The horror.
  9. Tom Crean was fired a year after winning the Big 10 and advancing to the sweet 16. Making the ncaa tournament and then getting blown out in the round of 32/64 doesn’t keep your job safe at IU. Or it shouldn’t, at least. 1 tournament win in 3 seasons. Let the usual crowd write their think pieces about the ‘optics.’ Far better than think pieces about how terrible the team is. Stop worrying about looking good and start worrying about being good. Find a winner.
  10. lol. No one said that you had to. But I’d love to hear your argument why Tom Allen winning just enough to keep his job another year would’ve been better for the IU football program.
  11. Might as well hand in my IU degree. IUFAN1976 doesn’t think I’m a true fan. Do you disagree that it was better for IUFB to go 3-9 this season instead of, say, 5-7? Because 5-7 likely gets you another season of Tom Allen. I absolutely was rooting for them to lose the last three games. The bottom had to fall out to get Scott Dolson to raise the $20 million buyout. It’s not just about short-term gratification as a fan. Sometimes you win the battle but lose the war. Anyway, on the way to give back my degree right now. Catch ya later!
  12. Different strokes for different folks. I don’t expect my opinion to be popular, but it’s how I view things. I feel little connection to the players, especially in the transfer portal where players often go to the highest bidder. I feel my connection to the university, and I root for what I feel is best for the university’s athletic programs. You differentiate from the pros by referencing the potential to get a generational player, but that’s exactly what a coaching vacancy is - a chance to find your generational coach. I rooted hard for IUFB to tank this year. Was it fun? No. But I felt it was necessary. Without the tank we’d have Tom Allen instead of Coach Cig. I don’t expect you to agree because you were a Mike Woodson supporter from day 0, but I am 100% convinced he’s not the solution. His high point was an 23-12 season and a blowout exit in the round of 32 with a team people thought awas a contender during the preseason And I believe that if someone’s not the solution then you should move on. IU won’t, though, for multiple reasons, and odds are we’ll be right here again next year having the same conversation as IU falls another season deeper into college basketball obscurity.
  13. Fans of pro teams root for their bad teams to lose all the time. It doesn’t make them bad fans, it’s just logical. If you’re a crappy team and aren’t making the playoffs, it’s better to bottom out and get the #1 pick than it is win just enough to get a middling pick. It’s long-term versus short-term. It’s better for IU to bottom out and then fire Woodson than it is for him to win just enough to justify a fourth season that in all likelihood won’t be any better than this one. Would it have been better for IUFB if Tom Allen went 5-7 this year instead of 3-9?
  14. Those comments have been made regarding his actions as a coach. For example arrogant —> the way he acts like he’s above answering reporters’ questions; lazy —> the way he half heartedly recruits. If the reports are true, he’s a lazy coach. So, those comments are perfectly fair, imo.
  15. He won’t happen, but Pearl would be a phenomenal option.
  16. I like this guy. Idk if he’ll succeed here given that we’re IUFB at the end of the day, but a guy like him is what we need.
  17. Quinn is drafting the extension papers as we speak.
  18. Barring the impossible, there’s nothing that will change my mind. He needs fired after this season.
  19. The open scholarship has been averaging 20 and 10, though.
  20. TJD built Woodson a bridge and then Woodson burned it down 25 games later.
  21. 33% from the field, 14% from 3, 58% from the free throw line. Fans in the first few rows behind the basket better keep an eye out.
  22. The anger isn’t entirely Woodson’s fault. Fans just sat through 4 terrible years with Archie, so the appetite for rebuilding was already pretty low. But there’s no reason to take such a step backward in year 3. Only having 1 commit in the ‘24 class doesn’t help either, especially with how he failed to close on many of the big fish he went after. Add in the stories of his laziness and you’ve got an unhappy IU crowd. Trying hard and failing is one thing. I don’t doubt that Archie was a hard worker. He just sucked. But it sounds like Woodson is on a retirement tour.
  23. He should have some great experiences to draw from his very successful tenure at Columbia, especially his record-breaking 2002-2003 season.
  24. Hindsight and all that, but I may have kept Crean knowing what I know now. His six year stretch was pretty good. He just unfortunately was running on fumes with recruiting relationships and all that. 2 conference titles, 3 sweet 16s and 4 tournament appearances in 6 years was the best that I’ve seen from IU during my fandom.
