  1. They’re completely rational feelings based on the way the IU basketball program has been run for the past 25 years. People say “no way they hire Brad Brownell,” but a Brad Brownell hire would be completely on brand.
  2. - Long career - nothing in it shows he is ready for IU - if he wasn’t from Indiana, no way he’d be in the discussion That’s exactly what happened with the last basketball coach IU hired.
  3. You could probably find a dozen “you don’t pay $10 million to fire Archie to hire Mike Woodson” posts in this very thread from March 2021. Yet that’s exactly what IU did. Just think about whatever decision a well-run program would make and then take the opposite of that if you want to figure out IU’s next move.
  4. Did your eyes skip the “IU basketball” distinction in my post? IU football doesn’t have an hundred different hands meddling with the program that you have to navigate through. Everything Dolson has done with IU basketball during his tenure has been a disaster. The same people who have spent the past two coaching searches claim that none of it was Dolson’s fault and he had no control, so you can believe that if you want, but the decisions were made on his watch. Hiring Brad Brownell would be yet another bad basketball decision courtesy of him.
  5. That our incompetent AD continued his IU basketball incompetence.
  6. It’s hard not to view it as trolling at this point to be completely honest, but it’s whatever. People entertain themselves in different ways. We’ll find out soon enough who the hire is.
  7. The family vote was 3-1 in favor of taking the job this time, but then Brad gave his daughter 3 more votes because she’s still in high school and it ended up 4-3.
  8. More smiley faces and GIFs from the usual suspects
  9. Rick Pitino is on top of the college basketball world rn yet IU is afraid to hire Will Wade lmao. This is why we can’t have nice things.
  10. Sounds like the kind of coach I’d like, lol.
  11. I’m hearing some soft chatter that Dolson cut Shaka from his short list after the search firm uncovered video of him forgetting to thank his waiter for a refill during his Texas tenure.
  12. He’s won 78% of his games at Houston and made at least the sweet 16 in each of the last five tournaments. IU has four sweet 16 appearances in the past 30 years. You don’t hire a guy like Sampson in the first place if you’re just going to execute yourself at the first sign of trouble, yet that’s exactly what IU did.
  13. No one will ever accuse me of being an optimist, but in the case of IU basketball, I think my IU fandom being entirely post-Knight warrants the extreme negativity. We’ve seen the IU administration make bad decision after bad decision for the better part of 25 years, and the rumors we’ve been hearing don’t give me much hope that this decision will be any different.
  14. Well, that depends on who the guy at the end of the completed search is. It could entirely still be the sign of an incompetent search.
  15. Wouldn’t Wade’s show cause have been a bigger deal last cycle than this cycle? Could be a reason why neither hired him then. I agree neither is coming here, which is why we’ll likely be right back here 3-4 years from now.
  16. Dolson isn’t going to be able to pull the “no big names wanted the job” card this time around. Not with Beard and (apparently) Wade pining for the job. You’ve got Beard wearing a shirt with a Bob Knight quote on it during his press conference.. An underwhelming hire is going to put the heat on immediately. “Sorry, I know Will Wade wanted the job, but you better be happy with Brad Brownell” just isn’t going to cut it.
  17. For better or worse we’ll find out soon. This is his chance to show us he’s not just an empty suit doing other people’s bidding. I don’t think he’s stupid. I just think he’s weak.
  18. Lmao if Wade wants the job and Dolson gives us Brad Brownell then Brownell’s introductory press conference should be Dolson’s resignation press conference.
  19. Because the IU administration is filled with self-righteous do-gooders who care about looking self righteous instead of being an elite basketball program. What they fail to realize is no one cares and the broader collegiate basketball world sees the program as a joke.
  20. Hire this guy. https://twitter.com/bradlogancote/status/1900586940241449384?s=46&t=LoczziaTWuqlhvyvHGT92A
  21. Which narrative? I pump multiple
  22. Do you actually believe Brownell would be a good hire, or are you looking to scold us? IU basketball has not been good during Dolson’s hire. Hiring Woodson, raising his salary, and retaining him for a fourth season were all bad decisions. Folks will say Dolson didn’t have control over any of those decisions, but they were made on his watch. I’ll start trusting Dolson when it comes to IU basketball once he starts making good IU basketball decisions.
  23. It’s almost as ridiculous as hiring Brad Brownell would be.
